My 84 Civic started off about a year ago. I got the car from a dealership where the previous owner snapped the cam in the stock 1.3L carb'd motor. He just let it sit there for about a month. It was abandoned there and i decided to scoop it up..

I got the car with only a dash, and two seats in it. the car had just been repainted white, from the steel blue color. The car only has 143k miles on it!!

Here's what it looks like when i picked it up..

I couldn't do much to it for the past 10 months, but i finally got a decent job and took some time off school to find myslef. since August I've been working on it about once a week, or whenever i have time. The process has been super slow. I managed to find a D16A1 at a friend of mines shop (www.tigerracing.org) that had been there for a while. he said it was a good engine but it turns out the crank was bent =( I also manged to pick up some Clear H4 conversion headlights so i can run some HID's in the future..

Here's some up to date pics of the car as it sits...

the wheels are from a 86 Isuzu Impulse. Right now the car is completly stipped and I'm in the process of re-wiring the car OBD-1. I'm also gonna re-paint all the interior and under bonnett black. That blue is so hedious.

So stay tuned! lots more in store for my 84.. (turbo'd built D16) :o

why swap it to obd-1? i was under the impression that 1g D16A1's are Pre-OBD and the electronic advance ones (88-89) were OBD-0

my guess would be mainly parts availability and looks.

my guess would be mainly parts availability and looks.

figured that, i just thought they were different chassis wise, and didnt take swaps as well as the popular ones.

they actually swap very well. there are mount kits available for b-series. the trick is that unless its an Si, they are carb'd and you must do alot of working like skinny is having to with this one. and a majority of them arent si. one reason i think alot of people dont mess with 87 and older civic/crx are the fact they use torsion bars in the front :/

what abou the weight? are they alot lighter?

green91

i dont know the weights on them but im sure it would probably be lighter. theres not a whole lot to them

Sweet, these cars can be so sweet in the right hands. Can't wait to see the build up of the motor and see the car come together. Good luck man!

fuck all the guys that are wondering why this is stickied. I was wanting to get an older 84-87 civic and put a b16 in it. Did you know that having a b16 in these cars is the same power/weight ratio as having a 270hp integra?

OG-Skinny
02-12-2006, 01:24 PM
