I picked up a few new cd's this Tuesday.
All of them uploaded to the pc as MP3's with no problem excluding "Young Bloodz" cd.
You can not play the cd with Windows Media Player or burn a copy with Nero. Instead you have to use MediaMax (I guess a program on the cd) to play or make a copy to cd-r or hard drive. Then you only are able to make 3 copies of the cd. I've made 2 and it states I have one copy available now.
The only thing I am pi$$ed about is not being able to format the disc to mp3 on my hard drive.
File: Windows Media Audio File
kbps: 128 (no adjustment to 192 :2up: )
Protected: Yes (what exactly does that mean?)

Well, that's what it has come down to. I'm sure you know Sony BMG is being sued for automatically installing CRP on buyers PCs. But, the kicker was that the CRP program was considered spyware. Also, if you let Windows update on its own it will install DRM when it does its monthly updates. I never let any program update automatically. Alot of DVDs are doing the same thing but I strip the protection on the Cds and DVDs so I can "back them up." ;) I never play new CDs or DVDs on my normal PC. I have a backup PC I use to rip media and I never connect to the net with said computer. There is always a work around. You just have to find it. :D

Thanks for the info!
I didn't know about the spyware issue. That is crazy and I hope Sony gets the $hit sued out of them!!!
Anyhow, is there anyway to rip these protected disc to the hard drive as an unprotected mp3 w/192kbps? I can not burn the cd to an mp3 compilation as it sits on my pc :2up:
