hmmmm...stock a C5 runs a 10.3 in the 1/4 so good kill. The c5 runs 13's at best man. I was in the car right behind her last night. She did kick that vetts ass it was so great. She won by about 2-3 cars from a 5-10mph roll up to about 100 i think. Whatever it was she KILLED him.

LOL, I've been accumulating "road skills" for 10 years. Just because you drive hard with a helmet doesn't make you a better driver. You just spend more on tires and brakes. :p

No offense Val but while 10 years driving on ATL HWYs will teach you a thing or two, you'll be starting from scratch on the track. I can assure you. ;)

See ya the next auto-x (march 13th at Gwinnett Fairgrounds), we'll see who's "good driver". :D

Marshall - Let's go, man! But we start from a dig, not a highway run, sucka! ;) :P

Trey - You're cool so far as I've seen, I don't think I've ever met you in real life which is where I tend to make judgements on people, not over the internet or on forums, but stop being an autocross snob.

I appreciate your opinion but wonder why you felt the need to express it in a thread that doesn't concern you. I don't go into the auto-x forums and say "Get off the track and get some street time so you aren't just a pussy in a Subaru". So why come in mine? Best to just leave it alone. :)

doing good, how about you? I might come out to np this week, so I hope you are there; we can catch up then! I am loving the vette more and more. I do admit I miss the BOV, wastegate, and those other things but it is nice to jump in and start it right up without any real issues like the sil. i think what I love most about the vette is it's abilities in the mtns. each time I go I learn something about the car, and how I can improve myself. it is an amazing machine for being virtually stock and no where near the price of other comparable exotics.

Trey

Who's the snob? Just trying to expand your abilities and have fun where it's legal. :D Don't be scared to learn a few new tricks.

And this is the internet, I'm welcome in all public forums. ;)

Hey, I've met Trey....and he's a real nice guy. He never came across as a snob...... but he's got a point.....most people that "street race" can't even control their own car and really know how to drive. Real racing is done on the track......so if u want "real kills and real stories" try the track before u kill someone.

Yeah, definitely - for the money the vette is one of the best options if you want the whole package: speed, looks, and handling, etc. I'll be there Thursday so come up, I miss ya!!!! :)

the really funny part is what trey is saying is absolutely true. Its funny but in the hands of a skilled driver a mazda 3 can out manuever an evolution stock for stock. Point of the matter is though, the c5r vettes ran for a 24 hour straight lemans race, where were the evolutions during that time? I can almost promise you that a c5r would smack the snot out of an evolution on the track, once again stock for stock. Its all in the driver, and obviously he wasnt a good driver

LOL, could be. I think he was just acting like a badass. He could have been making stuff up. All I knew is that it was a convertable automatic.

I thought that ram air is what some of the transam's are called. I know they have the ram air hood option that you can get on them.

my friend had a bone stock 2001 C5 6 speed car that ran 12.8@114 at silver dollar but your EVO that traps 102 mph pulled on one from a roll....rightttttttt.....must be the worlds worst C5 driver!

edit...saw it was a convertable auto...so maybe its possible....

Nismo
03-08-2005, 09:23 PM
did they make a c5r in auto trim though? I thought it was a straight 6 speed street legal race car? let alone a convertable

Dragonfly5338
03-08-2005, 10:11 PM
I met a dude with a z06 who did a ram air mod, so I'm assuming it's possible. (I couldn't catch him, LOL!)

Listen - by no means am I claiming to be a vette expert. I know nothing about them. Infact, I couldn't tell you the difference between a z06 and a c5. This is what the guy told me "It's a C5 with the ram air mod". And I could tell that it was both a convertable and automatic. Other than that, I can't tell ya.

So quit picking and pecking. Why do y'all insist on turning a small kill story into a now 3 page thread? Ridiculous. In fact, the majority of this thread has been nothing but peck, peck, pecking. Some of y'all need to find a pasttime and stop acting like a flock of hens. :p

What are you talking about?
Do you have any idea how fast is the Evo in the corners?
Have you ever experienced 1g cornering?
I think I am an average aggressive driver but I do not see how a stock mazda3 can outmanuever a stock Evo, I do not want to disrespect you but please....
About the C5 I still have a lot of doubts, a Z06 is another story...

Chit, I was just trying to find out if the "ram air mod" was on the chevy's or if it was just the pontiac's or not. I don't know that much about Corvette's but if you say you beat one I believe it since you said it was an auto.

ct9a gsr
03-08-2005, 11:50 PM
Evo's beating ANY type of stock corvette is fully possible... in 1 night, I beat a c5, c6, and z06 from a roll... just takes some money and mods to get upto that speed...

and besides... in 4th gear, I bet even a c5 would start to pull on me... v8 > 4 cylinder @ high speeds (usually)

Quote "I think I am an average aggressive driver but I do not see how a stock mazda3 can outmanuever a stock Evo,"

well put Tarzan Yamada behind the wheel of the mazda3 and just some average joe (with little to not track time) behind the wheel of the Evo and the mazda3 would come out on top. im not trying to start anything but he did say "in the hands of a skilled driver" so it would be true, but now on the flip side if you take the same driver and drive the Evo then the mazda3. the Evo time would be faster.

I think Trey's point was that its not safe to race to 100+mph on public roadways, and that a better test of driving skill could be shown on an autox track. Thats it.

thanks for helpin out but what makes the Spec-C what it is isn't the extra 22 horse power but the stretched wheelbase, kick ass suspension, and the fact that it does not know the meaning of understeer
