go to your county court house go to the probate court and ask for a firearms license application. they will tell you what all you need to do and where to go from there as far as getting the app done. As far as buying weapons now you can, just have to go through the instant background check.
And if you dont have any good experiance with firearms you might want to take a hunters safety class and take some firearms training.

i can buy weapons now without a firearms license? what exactly does the firearms license permit you to do? i'd like to carry one around, possibly concealed in my car or home. lmk

Yes you can buy a gun without a license as long as your background check comes up clean. The firearms license(CCW) lets you carry the gun in a holster on you, hidden. Later, QD.

i was in california and a trick shooter told me that he was allowed to carry a gun on him without a permit as long as it was in a VISIBLE holster? is this true?

No. You'll still have to go through a background check. Not to mention this is not the WTB section. Later, QD.

still ...look into what you want to purchase. find out the laws about that (i.e carrying, transportation and permits) many of us on here are weapons carriers and/or have had weapons for a long time. me i've been a legal gun owner for about 6 years now, when i turned your age. but my dad was army then a cop so i've had weapons around me my entire life. well i'm prior sevice too so, oh well. but yeah there are plenty of us that have weapons experience and looking up the laws are'nt hard.
i'll say that for one your first gun should be purchased from a gun dealer(real one) gun show(maybe) or pawn shop. that way you get used to the process of gun buying and 2 you dont buy a gun with a body on it and get locked the fuck up. someone can tell you all day a gun is legal but the only way to know is to get one from an actual dealer.

You want to start collecting guns? So you want to buy and display your weapons? You don't need a CCW permit for that. You don't need a CCW to have a gun hidden in your home or place of business. A .45 caliper is pretty heavy, it may be hard to conceal one of those as well. I hope your a really big guy. Before you buy a gun take some training classes and learn how to use it is real life situaions not just going to the range. Anyone can shoot a gun in a controlled situation but when you have 1 sec to think you need to be able to act quickly without shooting yourself or exposing yourself.

you can buy a gun at the age of 18. you have to be 21 to carry a concealed gun or permit. Anyone can carry a "rifle" or a gun with a 16 inch barrel anywhere any time as long as it is visible.Unless its a courthouse/schoolzone restricted area like a club. All semi-auto guns are legal.Upon purchase of a gun they will do a federal background check that usually take 30 minutes. I have about 160 guns lol
