I'm having an issue with my wife's 2008 Camry. We're feeling vibration at highway speeds. Feels like it's coming from the front passenger side. We've had all 4 tires replaced (two of them replaced twice because we got lucky and the shop gave us a set of 4 for free with all the trouble we were having with the goodyear tires they sold us), and added hub-centric rings to her wheels. There are no noises to tell me whether it's a cv axle or a bearing. I've been under the car and the only thing I can find that comes close to loose is that the passenger side axle has just a little more side to side play (runout - inner cv) than the driver's side. Any suggestions?

Seeing how its the wifes car id say she warped a front rotor

Did she hit a curb?

Is it only at highway speeds?

Do you feel it while braking?

They probably would have said something when balancing the wheel when they put the tires on, though.

Yep. Very true.

Sounds like a ball joint is loose if it's not felt more while braking.

No, she hasn't hit any curbs. She'd be pissed if she messed up those wheels. Vibration seems to start around 65mph. Haven't felt any low speed vibration. No vibration when braking.

A loose ball joint would cause high speed vibration?!

Loose ball joints, outer tie rods, inner tie rods, wheel bearings, and yes axles too. Some axles have a balancing ring if it comes, off it could cause a vibration.

Get under there and put your hands on every piece of the suspension. Try to shake/move/wiggle all parts and check for slop.

Have you replaced the brake rotors recently? A out of round brake rotor will feel just like a tire out of balance... Chinese made Autozone brake rotors aren't exactly the highest quality. Just sayin'

This is assuming that you've checked wheel bearings, ball joints etc... Like Dueces said, wiggle shit.

She says it's not vibrating when she's braking. I'll have to drive it and see for myself. Suppose I should've already done that rather than just taking her word for it. I have already been under the car to check everything out which is why I'm still stumped. The only thing I didn't do was to put a jack under the LCAs when I checked the ball joints. I read somewhere recently that it makes it easier to tell if a ball joint is bad.
