I'm sure we've had one of these threads before, fortunately for you guys... I'm too lazy to search for it and bump it.

What's that one car... The one that got away... But that's not a bad thing... But still you always wonder...

I have a couple to start the thread.

Beretta GTU

I literally came within a cunt-hair of owning one. Only thanks to my wise father's wisdom at the last minute did I back out of the deal... Good thing too, could you imagine owning a GM product??? That's crazy.

Subaru XT

I don't give a shit what anyone says, this car was bad-ass. I mean, it has to be. I've never seen one for sale.

I could go on and on and on... But because I'm a man of the people. I want to hear your opinion.

My first car was supposed to be a 69 camaro. Parents agreed to buy it and guy wouldn't sell it to a teen. Ended up getting a foxbody instead. The rest is history.

1988 Conquest I liked it but it had a stage 3 clutch and a leaking Turbro as usual so lost interest.

1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe I went to buy the car but it needed a new rear end and while it was being replaced found another ride.

That one was a midnight purple color- you should have bought it. The motor was built and he didn't even know. I rebuilt his turbo, he had mudflaps on his car which was rare. It was an LSD-equipped SHP car with the wide rears on it...

That dude ended up trading it for a super riced out 2nd gen automatic mitsu eclipse.

I actually rebuilt his turbo in exchange for his shitty starion "parts car"

When I saw the red parts car, I couldn't contain myself. It was a slightly wrecked 86 widebody ESI-r with an 83 hood, Rare old skool Ronal wheels, 88/89 seats. His red slightly wrecked "parts" car was worth more than his purple running starion. His purple starion was pretty nice though, suspension was modded, paint was awesome, wheels were rare/clean, it ran good... but still the junk car I got from him had some of the most rare parts you can get.

Right away I traded the hood for 800 bucks plus a stock hood (to EP3sAreFun on IA- "kyle" he used to work at MOG Toyota)... I traded the wheels for 500 plus stock wheels (To someone from the forums, from Tennessee or South Carolina, don't even remember who)... And I still had a widebody car with a complete longblock and awesome interior. It only needed a turbo and some electrical things and some exhaust and charge piping work. The cosmetic damage was minimal and I sold the car to someone stupidly cheap because I already made my money off of it and I wanted it to go to someone who would do something with it.

If anyone knows 'Cruz', he has it now. I think he lives somewhere deep in the country in GA judging by his accent. Supposedly he cleaned it up nicely and it runs.

I missed out on a running but needed restored 67 mustang fastback for 5k in 1999. That car in the same unrestored condtion sells for 15k. I also missed out on a 69 shelby gt350 unrestored but a good driver quality for 16k also in 1999. The issue on both was being broke at the time.

I can't really think of many.

One was an MR2 race car, definitely would not have been a good street car. No side glass, NASCAR door bars, no heat, no lights. Plan was to put lights in it make clip in side windows....very practical.

The other was a sweet 200SX (S12 or whatever the ricers call them) with a boosted whatever they came with, CA20? Had lots of other little things, I was sixteen and I'm sure it would have ended up broken down in my parents driveway and ended up going to the scrap yard.

Turbo coupes were sweet..... i used to have one of those. Very under appreciated cars, in the 80s those things were baller.

Aside from the new one it was V6 for the 1st gen and V8 for the 2nd gen.

I missed out on a nice 70's stingray trade for my Durango. Didn't feel like fighting traffic after work that day and it was sold the next day....

But I have this super fucking cool conquest now so I'm not that disappointed.

69 Nova I almost got when I was 16, wanted it so bad but probably better I didn't get it. Had a friend that had a 71 Chevelle SS and another that had a 70 GTO, both of them ended up losing them within a year. No telling what kind of shit I would have ended up in if I had bought that car, I ended up in enough of it just riding with them.

Taurus SHOHad one (Yamaha V-6), loved it. The Ford AOD transmission hated me, or the nitrous, or both.

If you ever get one, get a manual. I only got an auto because after 5 months of looking I couldn't find a 5-speed.

I've had a SHO V-8 block in my garage for about the past two years waiting to be turned into a coffee table... One day I'll get to it.

I had three moments of this... First car was supposed to be a really nice '91 prelude. Lady sold it before I got the money to her. Second moment was two years ago. My '00 Tl got wrecked and finally had the money for this really nice RSX I saw but I was in the middle of battling foreclosure so I didn't. Another incident was a ice E36 for a cheap price and nothing was wrong with it, had the money and on the way there guy WRECKED IT, 20 mins before I got to his house while he was getting gas for it. Now every time I see one I shed a little low budget tear...

Never bothered to actually check to see if it was a real Grand Sport... Because I never realized how freaking difficult it was to get in and out of that Gen, I never even considered buying it after trying it out.

Was given one of those things for free and tried to destroy it. Would do reverse doughnuts in it and drift it in fields.... the motor mounts broke and the engine flopped back and forth so bad that it would pull the plug wires off. The airbox and exhaust fell off..... it never stopped running and i eventually sold it for $100 to a poor bastard who actually fixed it and drove it on the street.

There was an mk3 supra way back in the day that was sitting in my neighborhood for a number of years. Tried to buy it a good 5+ times but dude never wanted to sell it. Had a blown motor and was sitting in the driveway where his kids were scratching the shit out of it with their bike handlebars. Drove me crazy especially since I was rolling a rust colored toyota paseo.

Wound up getting my mk3 a few years later so... oh well.

I was going to buy this car from a lawyer and it was his son's car. Son went to NYU and wanted to get rid of it. Wanted $5300, tastefully modded, 7x,xxx miles on it, manual, and etc. I ended up buying a 2000 Honda Civic for $3000 instead.
