For the record, I dont believe Obama is a member of the MB, not at all. However, I do question his background and there are def questions about his past we do not know the answers too. He also did partake in some very radical organizations/speeches/rallys as a young man.

That doesnt mean hes not fit to be president, just helps me understand his thinking more.

Sinfix, get the facts straight. Obama never said that quote.

Actual quote from "The Audacity of Hope" [pg. 261]: "Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

I suggest that you do some research before publishing these as statements from Obama.

I understand the context of the quote. When you lump it in with everything else that Obama doesnt say, that is where i have issues. Also taking into consideration that Obama has the most control of the political winds. Should the political winds shift in an ugly direction, i wonder if Obama would stand with americans who value constitutional rights. Probably not, seeing as how Obama is one controlling the fan. The issue with that quote is the lengths Obama goes to confirm in support in certain areas and not others.

2. The birthers were/are idiots and Obama's team played them from the start. What better way to gin up racial solidarity than to have a bunch of white guys complain about Obama being unqualified to run based on where he was born?
3. I have nothing else but 2 seems to be too short of a list.

The quote that you posted is not a quote - it is an outright lie to say that he stated that, or implied it. You may have chosen to infer that from the statement, but the fact is - he did not even make the statement that you might have inferred it from.

When you do not research and verify the quote, you nullify your credibility when you have actual, correct quotes.

Do i feel a majority of muslims interpret it literally? i hope not. Even if they arent living by the word, theyre a part of a "team" that is responsible for most of the world's genocide. Obviously not 100% of all muslims are extremist. Most of the extremist on this planet are muslims. Most of the terrorists on this planet are muslims. The core values of Islam are extreme. The actions of islamic extremist are not radical individuals following their own path, they are following the instruction of their religious beliefs.

How many people have to die before islam can be criticized? does that number even exist for you? or will you always fall back on "theyre not all bad".

I will never stoop down to a level where I judge a whole culture based on the extreme actions of some claiming to be within.

Read the Quran and study up, then get back to me if you want a serious debate.

I'm not basing my judgment on skin color. Practicing islam is a choice that people make. I judge them by the principles of their religion that they chose to be a part of. Every crime and action i criticize is an action by someone who claims they did it because of Islam.

Being white isnt a choice. Your analogy has no connection. Also, my stance against muslims is not bigotry. I have no prejudice, there is causation for my opinion. Or are we going to pretend that the majority of terrorism around the world isnt predominantly islamic?

You're making a hasty generalization, so can I make hasty generalizations too? Or is it only the generalizations you want to make?

All Islam is filth because a few have killed some people.

So all white people are filth because a few have killed some people

All Christians are filth because a few have killed some people.

How many people have to die before being an American can be criticized?

More generalization

How many people have to die before being white can be criticized?

White people are criticized now even though they share a portion of negative statistics with 13% of the population. Being white isnt a choice, if you chose to criticize a person based on their skin color alone, you are a racist.

How many people have to die before being Christian can be criticized? Enough have already died, they deserve criticism today.

How many people have to die before being an American can be criticized? That number has been reached as well, proceed with the criticism.

Let me summarize your argument for you.

Me - look at all of this murder, rape and terrorism in the name of islam. Look at the religious scriptures that endorse murder, rape and terrorism.

you - There's a lot of muslims, not all of them murder, rape or terrorize. People do not really follow the religion they follow. (insert token conservative insult here)

So if I look at all the atrocities committed in the name of Christianity, could I make the argument that Christianity is filth and everyone who follows it?

Yes. Why do you feel i would answer any different? The modern day muslim has a lot in common with the crusading christian of the past. Society also has a pretty tight leash on christians and that leash remains long after the crusade has ended. There's a lot of questions and criticisms for christians to answer to.... i think a lot of christians are beginning to realize that. To my knowledge, i dont think there's an organized religion on this planet that i couldnt critique. Some more than others and Islam is easily and by extremely large margin at the top of that list.

If I look at all the atrocities committed in the name of being american, could I also say that being american is filth?

Being an american doesnt really constitute anything. America by design is a group of individuals. You can be american and muslim at the same time, even though those ideas are contradictory to each other. America is also structured in a manner to where it's ever changing. Certain administrations of government are filth. Certain eras of history were filth. It would be very hard to place blame on the "american idea" though. The constitution is pure. America by design is pure. The corrupt actions of americans throughout history were actions not defined by our constitution. Our current president and current elected officials do not follow the rules of "being an american". Islam clearly defines and endorses the criminal actions committed by islamic extremist. All of these terrorists are not breaking the rules of islam, they are the ones following the letter of the law.

Sure I will study it with you, make a thread and post DIRECT quotes from your readings, not that you found out of context on some anti-Islam site. You're so closed minded it's not even funny. You hate Muslims because some bad ones commit some bad crimes, sure the numbers are high, but Islam as a whole in its true form does not support these actions or encourage them.

Saying that marrying children is part of "Muslim culture" is the equivalent as me saying mortification is part of Christian culture.

This is going to be an eye opening experience for you. I'll start a thread at some point this week. I'll make sure to link direct scriptures so you can reference them.

What you're doing is an honest mistake. You're guilty of exactly what you accuse me of. Your opinion of muslims is based on a good "sample" of them, my disdain for muslims i admit is also based on a bad "sample" of them, but upon further investigation, i learned that these islamic radicals are following the letter of the law defined by their religion. They are not rogue individuals. The religion itself is corrupt.

I'm not basing my feelings on who I have met, I am basing them on what I felt from when I read the Quran and really studied into it. I even started taking Arabic. I felt confused with half the stuff I heard after 9/11 and years following so felt the need to look into it myself, not by reading peoples opinions or things they "think" to be true, but to find out and interpret it myself. The fact that I know some Muslims holds no real meaning here, it simply was said since you made it out at first to be that ALL Muslims were radicals.

To fully understand any religious work could take a lifetime depending on the person. We're not going to discover the mystery of the world by bantering back and forth over a forum, but deciphering some scripture could make for an interesting conversation. While i am going to shine a spot light on worst aspects of islam i can, i'll make sure the "islam thread" will not be a combative one like usual.

Definitely using the right word. My views on Christianity aren't bigotry. Mainly because I don't judge the whole based on the actions of the few

I don't need to confirm you're being a bigot anymore. Its not really up for debate. I've told you one time. That should be enough. Sure its okay to say that. Freedom of speech and personal beliefs. Personally I think the world population as a collective whole is filth. We are such a fucked up species that we will never change.

I agree with Sinfix to a degree. I dont have any qualms with Muslims themselves but the religion itself has very demeaning and fucked up directions.
