Recently rented one of these for vacation (actually wanted a cheap 4 cylinder for gas, they free upgraded me to this car)

I believe its a Blacksport edition or something? Black wheels, black on black on black, R/T, Touchscreen (no nav), remote start, remote trunk, blah blah blah.

Anyways i got 25-26 mpg on the hwy from here to Orlando, 18 mpg in the city.

I actually REALLY love the way it drives, it had tons of room, but drove like a car. Plenty of "GO" for me, super smooth, really quiet.

Anyone know more about these cars? Reliability? Maint? Transmission problems? etc

Seriously thinking about buying one, the model I want fully loaded is under $30,000

Avoid the 2006-07 models. Those years have the most complaints, mostly about the shifter getting hung up thus rendering the car un-drivable, but it's an easy and relatively cheap fix.

The 2006 years are 10x more likely (seems like) to have an engine failure than any other year. but as a general rule of thumb, just avoid the V6 models altogether regardless of the year.

That being said, the post '07's are solid, solid vehicles and really do the "American sedan" justice. Being a "husky" gentleman I found the backseat a little uncomfortable, but let's be honest... Who really cares about backseat comfort? It's just means your friends volunteer you to drive everywhere. I personally would keep the "gadgets" to a minimum, after all... It is a Dodge. And the more crap you add the more there is to break. But a stripped-down 5.7 model...
