My buddy got a 98' Civic DX and was wondering if you guy know any good shock absorbers or suspension kits for the car. The car rides rough ass hell and is going to be driven in New Orleans for the next year and the roads there are worst than downtown Atlanta. Any particular brands in particular? Is it necessary to change the suspension as well as the shock absorbers to make the ride just slightly better? Let me know and thanks in advance.

On the Miata I had Ground Control springs/sleeves with AGX adjustable shocks. Could be rock hard for track days, or ride like a Cadillac (well, as Cadillac as a Miata can get).
But yes, IMO a good set of adjustable shocks can make all the difference.

if it rides rough as hell, its probably because of dumb shit the previous owner installed. Good start would be to remove that dumb shit.

Yup, but if you are pairing them with cut springs or coil-overs cranked all the way down, they aren't going to do much.

So just do the shocks and leave the coils alone?

So just do the shocks and leave the coils alone? You are asking me to answer questions blind... I have no idea what coils he's riding on... How can I know if it's ok???? Raceland coils turned all the way down are going to ride different than Öhlins with proper travel/geometry... and vise-versa.
But I will give you a definitive answer, if you can tell me if I think my car rides good with it's current set-up that you don't know about...

When you had your Miata, did you have raceland coils with the AGX shocks. Or just the AGX shocks? Sorry for the confusion.
