Who has carried a revolver as a CCW or would ?
I like my Semi-Auto but have also liked the idea of carrying a .38 special but reload time is a bitch :(

If you have to reload you are not doing something right.

Why would you want a revolver anyways? A good semi will be just as reliable, hold more rounds, and be thinner.

In the heat of the moment you dont know how you will shoot under pressure, if youre also being shot at or how many attackers there maybe! I like my glock 15+ I can afford to miss once!

I'm a lot more accurate with the big "cowboy" revolvers than i am my usual semi carry.... but i dont want to carry a big revolver. With the snubby revolvers the biggest factor in deciding to carry one is how much value you put on ammo capacity. Everything else is relative.

A toy that can shoot and kill you. No diff than a sub compact .38. No less accurate.

.44 mags are fun as hell to shoot also. If that big motherfucker don't make you smile when you vaporize a milk jug full of water then you need to check your pulse or grow some balls!

What does that have to do with this?

A revolver, by nature of design, can handle more powerful rounds than a semi-auto pistol duh

i wouldnt rely on a 38 to defend myself either.

I carried a Rossi .357 snub nose for years. Never felt "less safe" because I had six bullets... My other carry at the time was a Springfield 1911 and it only held 7. If reload time is the biggest concern just spend a lot of time practicing with a speed loader. It's not nearly as slow as you think.

Plus plinking with .38 was cheap. Though definitely not the same as a .357 load if that's what you are going to rely on for protection. Practice with both.

That's why I carry a Glock that holds 11 rounds.

Sent from my Galaxy Note IIIf you lay out 6 people with a .357 and they are still coming at you in droves. You really pissed them off... And 5 more bullets may not save you.

I would just avoid pissing off that many people at once.

I'm new to gun's, but the couple short barrel .38 I shot I did not do well, and at 15 yards I was a terrible shot. Lol. I can get a good group with a semi auto though. But you can always learn to shoot something with enough practice.

The nicest advantage to a revolver that I see is reliable, and no safeties, and in some cases smaller.

I carry one now and believe me I don't feel short on bullets like some on here. If u are fighting a group of people I really don't see them coming after you anymore after hearing a 357 revolver blast at them. Now I assume we are talking about self defense, so who starts fights with a group of people that have guns and gets into a shootout.lol If that's you then u need more ammo, but for a carry weapon its preferred by some. You have enough bullets to defend yourself and you take the shells with you....not to mention no worries of jamming or cocking. Just point and shoot, no safety. The S&W carry 7-8 in their revolvers for those who don't feel safe with 5-6. But it all depends on what you are comfortable shooting. I shoot 38 just fine 30yards, 357 the same but not as accurate. I have 4.2" barrel. most people carry 2.5-3".

They make polymer revolvers too. This one is lighter than my S&W shield

The Ruger LCR in .357 is great. It will break your fucking wrist but its light and easily concealable.

oyy, i shot a 2" .357 magnum revolver. IT about broke my hand after 3 rounds. I just don't like revolvers period.

I carry an XDS, and of course a spare loaded mag.

I love my G29. I dont carry any extra ammo on me. Just nine in the mag and one chambered.

I like the idea of a revolver because if some shady shit goes down and you gotta get the hell out of there you won't leave shell casings. Plus if you have to fire it through your coat or something, you won't have FTE or FTF like a semiautomatic will therefore it can be more maneuverable. And some revolvers can be great for pocket carry yet still have a powerful round, unlike a .380 or something smaller.

A .380 is an awesome round. Powerful enough to make an entrance and in most cases not an exit which would be helpful should someone stand behind your target. My 10mm on the other hand.....

Yeah, I shouldn't have brought caliber into it because I was thinking about how good a .22 revolver would be. Nothing wrong with .380, I have a LCP I'm thinking of trading up for a revolver after this thread.

This is my CCW - To be honest preferably I'd have a 3" .357 however the snub-nose .38 spl is a no exceptions always carry gun. Meaning : There is never a reason NOT to have this gun on you. I can conceal it in any of my front pants pockets without being conspicuous although I don't wear those sk8ter boi homo skinny jeans so meh. But it goes anywhere nullifying the difficult to carry excuse.

Advantages vs snub .357 is recoil and muzzle flash - follow up shots are easier and bullet is same size as .357

Advantages of .357 snub - Raw firepower of .357 much more potent than .38 spl

Something a little more important than fire power is are you also going to hit the person standing behind your intended target? A large caliber isnt suitable for everyday carry IMO. A .380 is perfect for that reason. I got half a clue one of my 10mm rounds will go through and through.
