I could see some rims and a drop but otherwise I wouldn't touch the exterior of that car. Looks good as is.
As far as performance... go crazy.

Sometimes, the best mods are the ones that aren't done. If the car were in rough shape, I could see cutting it up. But this looks to be in too good shape to do work on. I personally would find period correct wheels for the car in the period correct size (which would be 15's, I believe). Anything bigger, to me, is not so good looking. As for the engine, I'd leave it and do work to it. A dual or quad carb set up would really look great and keep it period.

Is it reliable? If it isn't, there's a starting point. Some rims and lowering springs would probably make it a little more fun to drive.
