Extremely pissed......... wait 5-6 years for a fight to happen only to see the biggest stall artist in MMA ride the clock to a victory. GSP does not fight....... he seeks to win a contest. His biggest weapon is the clock. When he finally did make any attempt to actually beat the man standing in front of him in the 3rd round, he realized a better man was standing in front of him and he went back to stalling.

What annoys me about this fight is that it didnt prove anything. GSP can hold someone down.... we knew that.

IF they fought for 30 rounds do you think it would be different?

I dont think GSP could finish Diaz even if they fought to the death.....

So riding the clock could be considered "fighting dirty" in the MMA world...what does it matter how you win, only that you win. I didn't watch the fight but whatever it took to win to shut that cocky piece of shit up, so be it.

In MMA, yes... GSP does what he does and that is why he is champion. But MMA is the evolution of combat becoming a sport. A sport has boundaries and a criteria for winning. The base nature of what created the sport.... combat, GSP is not the better man. If you put GSP and Nick Diaz on a deserted island together and said they couldnt leave until the other one was gone.....

Nick Diaz would walk off that island wearing a belt made of GSP's ribs. He's the better fighter in every regard. More skilled, more technique, more heart, more durable.... GSP cant win without the clock or the judges. GSP doesnt seek to prove he is a better man, he only seeks to have a W put beside his name on a piece of paper. When he goes to sleep at night he knows he did not beat Diaz, he just survived a contest and in doing so, scored a W. GSP spent half the fight trying to make sure it wasnt actually a fight.

It's not fighting dirty,Its just not commendable. GSP isnt some guy.... he's regarded as arguably the best MMA fighter ever.... he's in most people's top 5 at least..... and in the face of a "cocky piece of shit" like Nick Diaz, he blatantly fought a clock fight.

GSP didnt do anything to hurt Diaz, his game plan was be on top as much as possible until the clock runs out.

Diaz knows there is a time limit he could have mad many moves or taken chances to hurt George. It just hurts the Diaz fans so much after all the wait and he lost lol

Its not that he lost, its how he "lost". Had GSP of knocked Diaz out or submitted him, i would have mad respect for him. GSP cant sub Diaz, he cant KO Diaz, he cant finish Diaz period.... his goal was to be on top and ride the clock. It's not commendable.

Diaz does take chances.... it doesnt matter though. When someone as skilled as GSP wants to stall, its nearly impossible to stop it. Diaz gives up his back freely, he drops his hands begging GSP to strike....

What did you want GSP to do that he didn't? He stood in the clinch with Diaz and traded knees and blows, he took Diaz to the ground and controlled him, and he stood up and traded shots and kicks.
Diaz spent his night on his back, like a bitch. (If you know anything about Diaz, that comment should make sense to you.)

Diaz is a ring fighter. He wouldn't stand 15 seconds against any skilled in real combat. That's fine, because his job is a ring fighter.

Sinfix was right. GSP used a strategy not to beat his opponent, but to get a W. Thats it. GSP is an athlete, not a fighter. He won by a judges decision. When he wasnt trying to tackle Diaz, he was getting wore out.

GSP didn't win. He made it so that Diaz couldn't win.

As a consumer, had it not been for the Ellenberg fight, I would have asked for my $50 back

Unless your definition of "real combat" includes weapons...... you are sadly mistaken. Diaz would beat the ever living fuck out a navy seal, army ranger or anything else the military produces in hand to hand combat. I've trained with army combatives.... their hand to hand combat training is not anywhere even remotely close to that of a professional MMA fighter at the UFC level.

Condit vs Hendrix was a damn good fight too.

Yeah I agree with Sin here, while military gets trained by elite martial artists, whether it be an MMA style system or a traditional style system, they only get so long to train. They don't get to develop the sensitivity that martial artists develop to feel a technique opening up even if they can't see it as well as counters to all techniques that the military gets.

I just started watching UFC this year. The first two main events I've seen were Silva v. Overeem, and another one earlier in the year, I forgot who it was but my buddy said it was the bloodiest fight he's ever seen in MMA, so I guess I was kinda spoiled and expected more of a beat down between two title fighters.

You must not even know any SEAL or Rangers then. UFC is fighting with rules. There are no rules in real combat, and no trophies, only survival. It's not taking anything away from them, it's just a different mentality. Fighting for real allows the removal of eyes, crushing of throats, etc, and you cannot do that in the ring. You can't even hold your hand on their face and they stop the fight when someone gets poked in the eye or kicked in the groin. There are no stoppages in life outside the ring, and fights don't last 3 mins, then get a break, then another 3 mins, etc. It's over pretty fast when two people are trying to kill each other.

Yeah, i've heard that sales pitch before. Learning MMA doesnt make you forget how to kick someone in the nuts or poke them in the eye. If you were going to make this comparison, you picked the wrong fighter to make it against. Nick Diaz's biggest problem is that he doesnt fit in with the "sport" of MMA, he is a fighter. He's the last MMA fighter you would want to get into a street fight with.

If you think military training is equal to UFC caliber gyms then you are delusional. Army instructors have stopped into the local gyms here and theyre not even better than half the students.... much less professional fighters and trainers. And i'm talking about hole in the wall gyms in georgia..... Not Cesar Gracie where Diaz is at.

This is how a marine fights....

The vets you know would get their asses kicked by Nick Diaz. The military does not focus on hand to hand combat and being in the military prepares you to fight someone like Nick Diaz about as much as getting your driver's license prepares you to race Michael Schumacher.

If so.... i guess i can kick Nick Diaz's ass too.

Maybe your friends would, but the ones I know have actually been in combat, and come home. They didn't come home the same as they left though.

They had a lot more than 4 weeks of HTH though.

The modern army combatives program was invented in Ft Benning GA........ Whatever training they received.... was created..... 5 minutes from where i am sitting right this moment. Sand Hill is 1 exit down from me. I've trained with 3 of the 9 black belts under this system

So, proximity equals knowledge? Interesting.

Why don't we just send the Diaz brothers to Afghanistan and bring the rest of the troops home? Should be cheaper.....

I would agree that in the ring, Diaz would hold the advantage. Outside the ring, fighting to survive, I would not give Diaz any advantage. His experience and training is developed for the ring, not in survival combat.
Again, not an issue, as he fights specifically in a sport in the ring.

Its owned by Dana white and run by Joe rogan those are two of the fakest douchebags alive. Plus plenty of stories and columns have been told or writen on how scripts go and are offered. Just like how they acted in the movie "Here comes the boom" and offer to pay fighters to just lose LoL in a main event
