Serious question for you and everyone else. Would you prefer less cars and photos, but higher caliber, or more cars with a less post processing, but more overall coverage? I have been not been doing as much post processing work for photos for IA, and posting more coverage rather than better quality, as people seemed to like that. I can easily do less photos, and select only better quality cars and shots. Let me know.

I just uploaded a resized set just for IA, and that cleaned up the sharpening on the photos. PB and vBulletin are reducing the quality of the photos too much now with the new interface that PB got.

More coverage overall. I wouldnt judge the processing of the photos as thats left at the discretion of the photographer. The quality of the car itself should have no bearing on decisions made.

I would rather see more coverage at any quality than less coverage with better quality.

Those stretched tires are horrendous. As for the photos... I can tell you overexposed most of the shots and then lowered the brightness in your photo editor. You are getting to much contrast and you loose detail in your highlights. General rule of thumb...shoot to were your pics are a little darker when shooting outside. and if you are inside shoot to make them a little brighter. Also change over to flickr.com to host your pictures. I have noticed a huge difference in picture quality from the pictures I had hosted on PhotoBucket. One last thing to help you out editing a lot of photos in regards to your question. In photoshop you can "fix" an image and save all your adjustments as a preset.. then simply apply the preset to all images that have the same exposure and quality of your first image. This would allow you to shoot a lot and save time while editing.

edit: one last thing... make sure your camera is shooting in Neutral mode so its 0 0 0 across the board and White balance should be set on AUTO. I can tell your shooting in a setting that makes the pictures look warmer. Because of this your color balance is way off... Also something easily fixed in photoshop

Actually, only a few shots were overexposed, I bumped it into manual without noticing. Most were properly exposed.
I used yesterday's set to test some LR presets that I got. I use PS all the time and have lots of presets for PS, but not a lot for LR.. These were not meant to go through PS.
I use flickr for more personal photos. PB is just for forum posts. Most people glance through a forum post and it is forgotten by the next month.

I'll probably sit down and work on tweaking these LR presets. I might republish these photos later in the day, if I get a chance to rework them. I'm trying to find a way for Hasan and others to quickly shoot and post, with global settings that get it 90% of the way to finished - with almost no work. They don't really use PS, but will use LR.

BTW - All of them were shot on the D70, which is pretty low dynamic range. The presets boosted the dynamic range, and I think that it is probably too strong of a setting. You're on a 7D, right? That has a much better range than the D70, and is mkore like my D5100 in range. I might have retire the D70 soon....

Auto white balance is a bad idea.

Actually the d70 was in sharper, which is the same as neutral on color - but that only matters in jpg, not raw.
I always shot in raw and auto wb - I chose to warm up the photos in pp. Just zeroing wb is boring.

yes, but only if you are shooting one scene, or if you are shooting video.

I think most people would rather have more coverage than time spent in PP unless you are just concentrating on a single car.

First off David, thanks for the regular coverage of the meet. The pics you have been putting up are all great. As to more coverage vs more post processing. I would love to see you take the best 2 or 3 pics of the day and do them up nice (like wallpaper style) and then expand coverage but do less processing on the rest. Best of both worlds!

yes, but only if you are shooting one scene, or if you are shooting video.

At a car meet its harder to take pics then any where else. Different color cars, shadows etc. Trusting the auto white balance kind of gambles with a good/bad photo until you get home. Setting white balance for the day is easy.
