I went on a kick where i was taking screen shots of the actual price of the wheels people were selling, but after a while the task became overwhelming and i had to retire, much like Batman under the weight of Gotham's crime.

Yep.

Who made it ok for someone other than the seller to decide what the seller wants to ask for his stuff? If you can get new for the same price, then go get them and quit worrying about what someone else is charging.

It's annoying to try to save money by accepting flaws, only to find it costs the same as the new because people are greedy.

Ok? No one is forced to buy them, though. Don't like the price? Move on. It's pretty simple if you actually think about it.

As Scotsman said, common sense would tell you this. However, the point of the thread is somehow missed by you- it's the ridiculousness of the greedy motherfuckers in the 'scene' today. As easy as it is to move on, it effects everyone when no one is willing to grasp the reality that age/flaws makes value decline.

Too deep?

First off, I thought you've been around me (via IA) and seen enough of my posts to realize that I'm no idiot by any means. So no, I did get the "point."

And yes, it actually is "too deep." Think about it.

Part of the problem is with rep wheels being so common, you cant price things based on looks. Someone who doesnt know any better might see a TE37 listed for $2500, then see some Rota grids for $1200 and think OMG thats a steal..... Ultimately... it falls on the potential buyer to educate himself prior to purchasing anything and its his fault if he gets ripped off.......

but then again.,..... this is also a car community..... a place where people come to be educated in such matters.

I have a set of TE37 replica replicas. Wonder if I can get a $1000 for them. Hmm....

People also seem to think that just because they paid 600 bucks in tires, that there still worth 600 bucks a year later. I tend to sell my used set ups for 400. Some people list them high cause there gonna get low balled too.

it's a simple concept, it's also a simple concept for this 'seemingly' to be a community to kind of look out for others and not wallet gouge fellow car lovers too. but what do i know.

If I list a set of wheels for $800 but really wanting say $500 why would I be mad if someone offered $475?

Mark it up high so the buyer thinks he's getting a killer deal when he "lowballs" you. There's so many people that just throw an offer that sounds low or see a price that looks low without actually doing research.

Do you think this is limited only to this "community?" Just move on to the person who has the deal you're looking for.
