first off i hope this is in the right section if not my apologies. i have a 98 teg with b18b bone stock. im looking at different builds/swaps and one im really looking at is the 98-01 b20 swap. what are the pros and cons to this swap and is it pretty much a bolt in. any info would be great.

Direct bolt on and play. Everything is the same as far as sensors go. Find your self a b20z. It has the highest compression which is 9.6. If you get the b20z, your going to need a gsr throttle cable if your planning to keep the intake manifold because the throttle body is set up like a gsr and the manifold dose not have a mounting bracket hole to accept non gsr cable. B20z will make 128-130 on the dyno and with the torque, It'll pull a mild bolts on gsr. My old 94 gsr with b20z and ls tranny complete stock except short ram intake will pull gsr tegs and even hold up fairly good with a stock on itr teg.

It will pass. We are not in California. They dont look that close to see if its a stock motor.

i have another question for you guys. will a LS intake mani work on the b20? where i can use the throttle cable in the car already or do i have to use the b20 intake mani swapping the throttle cable for a gsr cable for it to work. thank you guys for any input im just trying to make sure i know as much as possible for the swap. i also just read the b20z 99+ is obd2b which wont pass smog test is there any truth to this?
