Not really.. There were more creative folks back then... I mean, everyone thinks now a days A honda/Acura drop on some Rotas or Slips with a lip is hot.. Now that I think is lame.. But it is what it is.. everything changes..
It does get boring seeing a bunch of Honda/Acuras rolling around that all look a like...

Also, I remember the blue Eclipse GST? I think it was that had the Supra taillights grafted in the rear.
From what I've heard, the next owner of the car really screwed it up :(
It was actually these cars that started to get me into the import scene.
Hell, first modified import car I ever sat in was after a football game @ CHHS. It was a '99? Civic SI ( SI blue as well ) with racing seats, the rear seats gone and replaced by a custom fiberglass enclosure of 4 12" subs? Guy liked Korn a lot, had mirrors on the underside of the hood.

You know what's crazy, Julizzle? And someone asked this earlier in this thread...about where are these cars now. Just about everyone of the "classic" IA cars were sold off by the builders/owners to young kids with mommy/daddy's money. And every single one of these kids with these cars (no lie) killed the cars. Not one of those cars every looked the way it did before sale date ever again. Later, QD.

That's when shows were shows.
I remember being out of Paint Cleaner and Paul driving down to give me some.....in JACKSONVILLE, FLA. ;)
I remember at a show in Alabama where I walked by a car and really liked the music mix he was playing. Told him that I liked it, and he literally hit the eject button and handed it to me......that was Steve Kubon.
I remember many times where Patrycja has gotten down on her hands and knees to help me prep the car at a show.
I remember where entire huge canopies "walked" down the parking lot to be present when they called out trophies.....Wild Bill show back in 03 I think.
When cotton in the fender wells was cool, mirrored hoods, and clear tails were in.....when going to a show in the middle of summer and drinking beer with your buddies was the highlight of your week......when you meet someone's significant other for the first time when she takes the stage AT THE WET-T CONTEST AND WINS THE WHOLE THING....*cough* Paul *cough*......when NOPI NATS was a cool show to win at......Good times indeed. :goodjob:
Too bad it will never be like that again I'm afraid. Some of you guys would've enjoyed that so much more than what you have now.

"WE" will never be like the old times.. why because thats life.. Some of Us just grow up, more responsibilities etc.
I enjoy cars.. I don't love cars. I have come to that conclusion. Some people Love cars.. But me, I enjoy them.
I made a thread in 03 where I talked about how the "show scene" was going to ROT and fall a part. I decided that Nopi 2003 was my last SHOW ever.. which it was.
I showed my car for 5 years..who knows how many shows up and down the east coast.. and When I quit showing, stripped my car, went to Mahdavi and they did my swap.. I only had the car for one more year after that.. Shit, Honestly I had never enjoyed that car like that one year alone.
Even though, After I made that thread on IA about how the show scene had it days and years numbered it stayed strong for 2 more years after that.. But by 05 we knew where it was going..
Now is dead and not the same.
There was a lot of competition back then, but at the end of the day, we will all "for the most" part, be cool..and still friends.
I look back and think, damn we were some idiots spending all that money on those lame ass cars.. damn, what a waste.. But you know what, Who Am I to judge.. I really couldn't, I was part of it.
Waking up at 6am to have a the car clean for a show at 9am that morning.. But mind you, we had spent the whole day before cleaning and waxing for the event.. crazy times indeed.
Back then it was more about the car and not the person.. Now you go to a meet and you see girls 1/2 naked and dudes trying to show off there gear or new phone or camera more then there car....
They drive in shitty ass Civic or 240's, literally with no paint, but have $200 pair of jordans, a $800 camera and $500 phone... and there $25 Green A-town hat to the side.. Is more of a fashion show now a days..
If they see me at a meet with slipper or flip flops I may get laughed at.. or made fun in one of the individual groups...
Is not the same.. why? Time is not the same.. Thats why I enjoy going to these Hot rods shows lately , because to most of them guys and gals out at those shows, is about the car, not them..
I also, enjoy going to the drag strip as well.
I never enjoyed drifting, cause I knew it was a fad.. there was a lot of hype when it starting blowing up in the states.. But where is it a now? Not as big any more.... hnmm...
I don't think it will never be the same, I honestly don't care if it does.. I know personally I'm not the same, so... it wont for me no matter what...
Even back then there was a difference : there were properly built cars and those that were not built right.... Of course for show..
What I like about all those crazy days and nights cleaning cars, shows and meets is, I meet a lot of cool people and some that till this days are still friends...and when we see each other is always a good 5 to 10 minutes conversation just catching up.. because I understand life is not what It was years ago... We grew up..Some got married with families now..
And in the middle of all that "controlled chaos " Importatlanta was born.
Honestly I'm not involved any more as I used to with events eh, sometimes, and if it wasn't for IA I would probably not be around any more.
So with that said, When if, IA ever vanishes of my hands.. I wont be around.. move on.. I got phone numbers to close friends and some of them do to..
So really, Life changes, Not the actual passion for cars.. The passion will be there for some... Is just some of us just have no other choice but to move on...
The new guys today will be feeling the same way in 5 to 10 years from now,
" all the good old days " at the point, some of us today may not even be around, shit, we may be driving shitty cars or better cars.. Life is like a Spin top.. You spin and spin and spin, but you will never land in the same place...
To me, is not even about cars anymore.. Is other things now that make more sense..
Anyways, enough of me rambling.. just thought I share what i thought about all this yiba yaba..

Not as big any more.... hnmm...

shit you aint the only one that would be quick to go to a meet in flops! :D
but yeah bro... i admire those days and what they stood for. me and Walker had a conversation about this one day. I'd like for it to get back to the days of the old where it was more than my car is better than yours because i have "ballin parts". back there it was cool to push the envelope and originate ideas of your own. now not so much.
times have indeed changed and so have styles. sure the styling of cars may never be as they were in 2000 but i hope to bring back the comraderie

White Hyundai Accent? That was Scott Morgan (Morgasm on IA). I talk to him rarely and he told me he doesn't really keep up with his car anymore. It's just transportation now.

One more thing the new generation will never really see anymore......FINE women having a good time and partying with everybody.
I remember plenty of them that would give guys a run for their money drinking and doing wild stuff.
Like I said, I met a fine young lady when her then BF (now Husband) called her up and said, "Hey girl, get your butt up here and win us some money...".....and she did! That was the wet t-shirt contest on the back of a flat bed semi at the racetrack in Gainesville. They're some of my best friends now. Funny how things work out.
I never got to party at the hotel during the Nopi Nats, but I've heard the infamous stories. Those guys would stay up all night partying, but would get up bright and early to get their rides prepped to go in to Nopi Nats. True commitment back then. Don't see that much anymore. Hell, I dreaded freaking Pablo sticking his damn hand up my tail pipes and deducting points......fucker!!!! :2up::D Hey, but it made me clean my shiot the next time. He wiped his dirty fingers on my score sheet too......fucker!!!:D Another one of my boys too. Again, funny how things work out.
Good ole days......I miss them in a way. A lot more work, but a lot more fun too. :goodjob:

i came into this hobby late. a buddy of mine who used to be on here had an old 89 prelude with a body kit and exhaust. he along with all the OG's and the way they built their show cars made me love imports the way i do now. Im young, not going to lie. only 22, i didnt get the chance to be in those days of xrated, prefected images, wTn etc. i wish i did. i came in at the but end of it. I see cars with body kits and and i still love them. cause honestly thats what its about. doing what you want not what your budy standing next to you thinks you should do.
Im with DO, i know thins will never be the same as far as style goes. but i wish the fun, brotherhood that everyone shared during that time would still be around. personally i don't like being around a lot of people on this site cause of the stupid shit that everyone takes personally off this site. does that make sense? no but shit happens. i dont know if any thing like what was back then will ever happen, but i hope it does.

About Us
Founded in November of 2000 By Brian Miller and Julio Morillo. The Idea was simple, Bring the scene together for one purpose, Our Love Of the Scene. The Site finally launched Feb 24th,2001, A date that I will never forget, it's like my 2nd Birthday, IA.COM is part of my life.It was a definate humble beggining, but with the support of major local shops, local Big boy tuners and Local Clubs, The name was known through the northern part of GA quickly. Shops Like Mahdavi Motorsports, Signguy, UAB and Clubs like Perfected Images, Xrated, people like Jeff Touswma,Greg Chup, Donnie Sukarome,Pablo Rodiguez, Josh Nixon are people that Backed and supported the new beggining for a change in the SCENE in GA today. I know these names and places sound very familiar. If not, you just started to be part of a Large Legacy. Some Of these names might no longer be associated with IA.com, But our respect and apreciation will never be forgoten.
We are so proud for what we have done, The change is noticible by miles. I have meet hundreds of people in the past couple of year, I wonder if that would have happened without IA.com? I know you have to, ask yourself that same question? IA.com has helped Shops,Tuners,Car clubs get bigger and more known through our Site and Forums. We have had alot of falls in the past, But we get up quick and managed to keep our heads up with pride. Now we are bigger and stronger,But without your support all this wouldve been a waste of your time and our time, It hasent and for that we thank you.
We will continue to strive and provide you with only the best we can with what we have and what we have is you the loyal supporter of IMPORTATLANTA.COM, what else can we ask for? Thats strong enough.
I would like to thanks each and everyone of you for your support over the past couple of year, it means alot to me personally and profesionally! Without you guys we are nothing! And for that you are considered friend for ever! LOVE YOU ALL
Love You All,
IA Staff

Also, I remember the blue Eclipse GST? I think it was that had the Supra taillights grafted in the rear.
From what I've heard, the next owner of the car really screwed it up :(I bought a pool table from him. Can't remember his name to save my life...something Europeon. Started with an S maybe? Sin...I can't remember lol
I was at Icehouses house a couple years ago looking at pics of that pos CRV from back in the day. :screwy:
'00-'02+ were seriously the years of the baby blue, lol! Wayyy too many cars had it all the way up to '05. Pretty sad during some of the riciest years of the car scene I had a stock body Z32 300zx and a '99 Triumph Daytona 955i...then years later when the clean "JDM" scene was coming into play bought the F&F Integra to save. haha.
It's not a model, I swear! Bought with 30k miles on it looking like this....

I think thats the first pic Ive seen of Tousma's car since he went to the infamous split hood.
How come no pictures of Kathryns blue SI have been posted yet?? And I totally forgot how Justins orange hatch looked. I remembered the back bumper though. Talk about being creative with the exhaust.
And dont forget about Sheping (sp??) and Jordans almost matching Accords.
Just thinking about the amount of cars that came out of UAB and Yellow River at that time is crazy.
Wish I still had pics from back in the day. Ive gone through too many cameras and computers and they slowly dissipated. I was lucky to find my disc with the eXXXtreme import photoshoot.

Couldn't have said it better myself...

ya'll were before my time. Its funny cause when i was in AZ no one was into body kits, at least most werent. it was all go, no show. Scene was totally different, prob cause i was closer to the west coast which always had a strong "street racing" cred.
WHen i came out here in like late 02 early 03 it was weird seeing all the body kitted cars, but thats when F&F blew up and it started to take over.
My first CRX was all bodykitted out, thank god most people never saw it from here. It was nasty.

Holy shit!! Good pics DP.
I remember that trip. Almost everyone was already in Pigeon Forge before Jimmy and Kathryn even left Atlanta. They had to wait on UAB to finish stuff up. (and her taillights still didnt work right), then Justins car messed up so he couldnt bring his. And Shawn (Silver Integra) almost hydrolocked his shit on the way up in the pouring rain. The parking lot was cramped for the show. We, Xrated, won like 5 or 6 trophies if I remember right.

i swear i saw that car for sale , but i was in phoenix from 99-03I spent a lot of time in Pheonix skreet racing (First time I met Juggernaut was after I walked his ass). But I doubt is was that car. After I sold the 17yr old kids wrecked it the first week he owned. Then took off my custom painted taillights and put on altezza'a.:( Then parked it around a telephone pole. I heard he was planning on fixing it, but I dunno. Guess he couldn't handle the NNAAWWWSSSS
Edit: Also before I sold it the "Z3" fiberglass was gone and back to factory panels and had Canadian Si rims...

that is why
So because he is younger he automatically doesn't like vomit inducing vehicles? I am a full 6 years older than he is and in 2002 and to this day would not even give a 2nd look at most of the vehicles in this thread. They are mostly terrible. Terrible paint, terrible interior, terrible mods and engine bays with more color than the rainbow. They induced vomitting in 2002 and they will continue to do that.
Even this forum has gone to the more 'clean' look. There are many a Honda Civic on this forum that I would drive to and from work. It wouldn't suit me as a track car but I certainly would not turn my nose up on driving it. The 'rice' has mostly died off. I see one a week right now.
The 'show scene' is not really all that dead though. There are still owners that are dumb enough to bolt, screw, glue and weld on as much point stuff as they possible can. Even on bimmerforums there are a couple of guys that have 'show cars' as they call them and they are absolutely terrible. The idea of 'Let's tack on as MUCH stuff as possible' is still alive and well.

Later, QD.
Maybe all of them except Jeff...last I talked to him, his was sitting in his garage in pieces

oh man. These were the heavy hitter cars back in the day. I remember seein a lot of these cars for the first time at a shop that used to be off Buford Hwy. I cant remember the name, Hybrid racing i think. Brooks worked there. They had a few crazy shows there. I still talk to icehouse, and he still has the crv at his house. These are the good old days
I was talking about that shop the other day & couldn't remember the name of it...thanks!!!

Tons of memories...always hated Pablo for running his hand on the frame. But thats why I love the Hot Rod/Muscle Car scene...Still slamming even with the economy.
