By way of Echonova. Big shouts to the dude for the help.

Look for me soon at a car stereo competition.

Does it still work or is this more for aesthetics?

My assumption is it works because he said he would be at stereo competitions however I could be completely wrong.

son of a bitch!!!!!!!!!! that's a nice rare piece...are you going to run it or have it there for looks and place a up-to-date deck hidden somewhere?

That's a sweet find. I'd still be trying to find a way to make it work with a (hidden) modern unit though or at least accept some type of modern input.

Better question is do you have the cassettes to go with it?

My plan, fellas, is to put it to good use. I have the factory AM/FM radio in now. I will have it, this 8 track player and all three speakers up and running, presumably by the end of the month. Now to directly answer you, SF and PBS, I won't be running a hidden deck anywhere. What I am going to do is this. I have a Sirius unit that will be hardwired into the back of the radio. The unit will be placed in an area so as not to be seen. That way, I get to listen to 8 tracks (like maybe at events or something) and be able to listen to whatever via satellite.

Echonova spoke of one. You can't have an 8 track player without the quintessential exponent. A disco era 8 track. And what better 8 track era cassette than Saturday Night Fever? Also, am working on Styx, the Eagles and KISS.

Love it! That's amazing to find a NOS 8-track for your exact car.

As much as I like resto-mods, I equally like seeing cars get rare and/or correct OEM parts. Cool find, to go along with all the others you have found for the car.

is it the unit itself or a wiring issue. That thing looks so mint, it'd almost be worth trying to fix

I might for that very reason.

Haha, thanks, man.

The radio didn't even have power in it. The 8 track player did play when you first put the cassette in, but when you let go of it, it would back out and stop playing. I had a stereo shop do all this and they called all their contacts to see if anyone could check it out. None of those guys were very confident about doing so.

So I was able to just go ahead and and snag an after market head unit (a snazzy looking Pioneer) and they mounted a couple of brackets and installed it in the glove box. Now, for the first time since I've had the car, I have tunes. This radio has some pretty cool features, too.
