This is my little 2v doing some work on a 03 cobra with steggy ported and pullied eaton with full bolt ons and solid rear swap. He gave up on race is why he's rowing gears slow. Cause he can drive the car I've seen it myself and their is video proof.

Obviously the motor was built if it pushed a heavy ass chassis down the strip and ran 11's.....solution: less money on power adders and more on weight reduction (the right way). But hey you like your 3600 pound car with 500whp that's cool. I prefer my 380-400whp 2000 pound car. No I don't have the trq you do but with the weight I don't need as much as you do. You need to make that fat ass move. I have a quick revving/quick spooling setup which will make up for the trq loss or trq I don't have. I don't want to count chicken like sin fix said so ill hit you mustang guys up once its 100% complete. Again this is a back yard built sr20det I didn't spend nearly the amount you did and I'm 70% sure your 2v won't pull away from me like it did that cobra.

You should look ay Drag Week's Super Street class. Those are real street cars on pump gas and driving 1500+ miles. Once you are low 9's/ high 8's, fuel type becomes an issue.

Modifies stocker - Mustangs run 9's with a little boost and still on pump. Look at the Justin's Performance Center 9 second stocker.

Should be around 1800 giving I replaced a lot of parts with fiberglass on the exterior. Metal hood will be carbon fiber. Just one seat in the interior minus dash and two door panels (don't want it looking to much like shit).

The most anyone has gotten off a gt2871 is like 440 so 400 is a good idea with a power FC and semi built head at 22psi I'm also ordering 750cc injectors right now so that I'm not at 100% duty cycle when at WOT. No chance that you will be that light. The lightest is the DSG S13 @ 2200 and a couple of others at 2250. They have some serious money in them. I suspect, from having experience with cutting weight in cars, that you will weigh in around 2300 wet weight with a 6 pt, and only because you have a coupe with no sunroof.
Add in another 150 for driver weight and gear.

This "work on my car everyday" is the opinion of the inexperienced. Once a SBF is gasketed correctly it's virtually maintenance free. The only annoyance ive ever had with SBFs is oil leaks and AOD transmissions. I've had a few s13s and ive had about 50 foxbody mustangs. If you think a s13 out runs a foxbody $ vs $ then you dont have a fucking clue what you're talking about. The problem with you import kiddiots is that you live inside your own little fantasy worlds and never actually seek the truth. Psychologically, your brain is more susceptible to picking up information that supports your belief. A stock foxbody has about 200 hp. A GT with an automatic probably runs a 16 in the 1/4 stock. Once upon a time some kid in a sports compact outran a mustang from redlight to redlight in a car that was 10-15 years newer and more technologically advanced than said mustang. That story spread like wildfire. The uninformed, like yourself... adopted this mindset and latched on to it since it supports what you want to believe. So then you went on your merry way and started drifting imports with mustache duct tape and green wheels while never giving mustangs a 2nd thought....

This "work on my car everyday" is the opinion of the inexperienced. Once a SBF is gasketed correctly it's virtually maintenance free. The only annoyance ive ever had with SBFs is oil leaks and AOD transmissions. I've had a few s13s and ive had about 50 foxbody mustangs. If you think a s13 out runs a foxbody $ vs $ then you dont have a fucking clue what you're talking about. The problem with you import kiddiots is that you live inside your own little fantasy worlds and never actually seek the truth. Psychologically, your brain is more susceptible to picking up information that supports your belief. A stock foxbody has about 200 hp. A GT with an automatic probably runs a 16 in the 1/4 stock. Once upon a time some kid in a sports compact outran a mustang from redlight to redlight in a car that was 10-15 years newer and more technologically advanced than said mustang. That story spread like wildfire. The uninformed, like yourself... adopted this mindset and latched on to it since it supports what you want to believe. So then you went on your merry way and started drifting imports with mustache duct tape and green wheels while never giving mustangs a 2nd thought....

I simply don't like mustangs period. Know I don't think 4cyl can out run them $ for $ but I do belie there are a few civic hatches that would give fox body's a run for their money on the strip. I've grew up around v8's my whole life. I've owned a as Camaro and a z28 Camaro and hated both of them because they broke down more then they ran. Then I got a Honda then a BMW and realized why drive something fast if its going to break more then it performs. So I started messing with reliable motors instead. Will I ever break a world record in my sr no but can I keep up with those 60k mustangs on the high way, absolutely. It's not that I want to win; it's I want to show the mustangbro that a lil 4cyl can sniff his ass with half the money.

Nah I new the m3 was over priced due to the luxury/performance the car posses. I choose the evo 8 with is a turbo charged platform and with 5k your talking about a 500-600whp monster.

with that said, EVO is a better choice than i would have expected from you. $29k MSRP..... it would be a formidable challenger to the 03 cobra $vs$<40k..... maybe the best example that could possibly be produced from the import world... but def not a clear victor.....

And also.... the EVO costs what it costs because it adapted a lot of the "americanized" ways of the mustang. Lot of people complain about the "cheapness" of an evo for what it is.

Ok, let's be realistic about it then. In 2003, the Evo cost $30K, and there weren't many shops in GA that knew how to mod it. Additionally, they all charged an arm and a leg then on them. Basically, your $5K wouldn't get you what it will now.
If you want to play the game of getting a 2003 now, and then dumping in $5K, you can go a lot faster now.

03-04 Cobra Terminators run 11.90 with only rear Draglights w/ 26-10.5 ET Streets. Most guys spent less than $1500 to make 450+hp and 450+tq - back in 2003-2005. You couldn't do that back then with the Evo 8. I know - I wanted one then (and still would like to have one now).

Yes, I like the Evo, and wouldn't mind having one, but to be honest, you can just make a lot more power for a lot less money with a Mustang.

Old Mustangs (foxbodys like mine) have a similar issue. The T-5 is weak, and breaks if you launch too hard. Swapping to an auto is pretty common once you increase the hp. The C4 is the cheapest swap on the 302's.

Both are almost equal in power stock for stock. What I was saying is could mod a evo to be faster then the cobra only spending 5k. Not much you can do to a cobra that hasn't already been done already. The evo is a awd turbo platform not a sc like the cobra. Giving all I would have to do is buy a gt35, tune, bigger injectors, dp, exhaust, ware gate and bov and I could easily hit 500-600 whp without cracking open the block. You may be able to reach the same power levels with the cobra with 5k but it will always weigh a lot more. You would need 700whp could you do that with 5k in 2003? Probably not unless your giving bj's for free parts. I'm showing you why I think mustangs in general are over priced. Giving they have all this power but what's power when your fat as fuck and can barley move eh?


And to answer the question about all the high dollar races...

Drag racing is more of an older crowed am I correct ? Most people who for real drag race are back yard country boys who only have known muscle cars. It's not that a evo can't reach 7-8's lap times its just know one of our generation wants to dump the money to take a crack at it. I see plenty of eg hatch Hondas running those times though... Sin fix said... Find a car in 2003 for under 40k and you have only 5 k to mod it. He choose the cobra of course...so if this was 2003 and I wanted to be competitive with the 2003 cobra I would buy an evo8 for around 8k less then the cobra. Both are almost equal in power stock for stock. What I was saying is could mod a evo to be faster then the cobra only spending 5k. Not much you can do to a cobra that hasn't already been done already. The evo is a awd turbo platform not a sc like the cobra. Giving all I would have to do is buy a gt35, tune, bigger injectors, dp, exhaust, ware gate and bov and I could easily hit 500-600 whp without cracking open the block. You may be able to reach the same power levels with the cobra with 5k but it will always weigh a lot more. You would need 700whp could you do that with 5k in 2003? Probably not unless your giving bj's for free parts. I'm showing you why I think mustangs in general are over priced. Giving they have all this power but what's power when your fat as fuck and can barley move eh?


And to answer the question about all the high dollar races...

Drag racing is more of an older crowed am I correct ? Most people who for real drag race are back yard country boys who only have known muscle cars. It's not that a evo can't reach 7-8's lap times its just know one of our generation wants to dump the money to take a crack at it. I see plenty of eg hatch Hondas running those times though... Those guys made a 4cyl run 8's....you made a v8 runs 8's who accomplished more here ?

Termi rods are fine at 700. The stock rod bolts start to get questionable at 700. There are tons of Cobras running between 650-700 safely. Its the stock bottom end 302s from the foxbodys that are more limited around low to mid 500s. They are completely different motors.

ARP 2000 rod bolts are a cheap and easy upgrade to the Termis.

The weakness on the foxbodys is the block itself - internals hold up longer than the block.

You want to talk about a 4g63 drag platform that was well developed in 03 then you talk dsm. Evo's have a problem with high hp because they dont have an tranny that can handle it. Dsm's have the same problem with the manuals, thats why you do an auto swap. Exactly why why buschur is currently working on one for the evo.

DSM people in general are pretty big elitist when it comes to drag racing. It's somewhat fair... because mitsu does have some kingpins in motorsport.... but here's where it annoys me.... probably for the last decade everybody with an eclipse has been proclaiming the greatness of DSMs when it was mostly just 1 guy...... it wasnt like eclipses were ruling the street.... most eclipses on the street/strip were shit boxes. But because of 1 guy that was running amazing times it energized the entire DSM community... even though 1% of them were running noteworthy ETs.....

Mustangs on the other hand....... the weekend the 03 Cobra came out there were 50 of them at the local track with dealer stickers still in the windows running 10s. Americans only care about going straight. Foreign cars are built with road courses in mind hence why they rev so much higher then American made cars. My facts about the cobra may have not been spot on but I do know they weigh a lot more then the evo and giving there whp is only off by like 80hp it's a pretty even race. It's not like the cobra is so much more better. So for 40k your better off buying the evo over the mustang; unless your a red neck and spend all of your time dragging then sure the mustang platform would be a better choice.

E36, you obvously haven't driven an 03-04 cobra on the track, nor have you driven an Evo 8 on one.
The cobras came with irs and handle pretty well. The cars are pretty evenly matched on a road course. I personally would choose the Evo 8 but I could lay down similar lap times with either.

No one is saying that the Evo is a bad car. It is actually a fantastic car. In pure 1/4 times though, it is outperformed by the Cobra. Results don't lie. The Evo needs a lot more suspension work than the cobra and that comes out of the budget. With 5k, its just not going to happen.

Well a I said before I don't know much about cobras and what I do know was off of my head or what I've seen I don't have time to google specs and make my argument better.

It's simple you see...

A evo makes about the same power to weight if not more and it's a turbo platform which is easier to mod and cheaper then a sc platform. If only given 5k to mod the evo would be victorious but your a mustang guy so you will do whatever to make it seem that I'm just some idiot and the cobra is just a monster of a car.

29k evo with almost 11whp per lb vs 34k+ for a cobra which is 10 whp almost 11 per lb.

Off of jut specs alone the evo already looks like a better car. We're are not discussing which would better platform down the road. I'm going off $vs$ then 5k for mods. Which car would someone of my generation go with ?

Your of a older crowed so your going mustang just because that's what I've been thought was a good car an with good reason. Mustangs have proven themselves on the track...simply because most people who drag use them.. You don't see people of your generation going "well man ima go mod me one of those evos and hold a world record yeaaaa buddy"

Could a evo be modded to run with 4 second mustangs....yes anything is possible. With the right amount of money anything can be done. Mustangs aren't the holly grail of performance cars . You can't be that ignorant to think there the best car ever made. People in Japan have been making cars that out preform today's mustangs an that was in the early 90's....supra/skyline/Silvia...these are all stock power house cars that don't need a massive v8 to make power.

Their lack in engineering obviously showed when there are 4cyl cars making almost the same lap times stock for stock.
