That's a 400 lb difference.

As for power for mods, do you realize that changing the pulley on the stock Eaton to a 2.93 takes the Cobra from 8 psi to 12 psi? And with the 2.8 pulley, intake, and exhaust you jump up to 470-480 rwhp? Mustang parts are cheap, and you still have plenty of mod money left from $5k. Slicks, IRS brace, and up the fuel and boost some more.

Well a I said before I don't know much about cobras and what I do know was off of my head or what I've seen I don't have time to google specs and make my argument better.

It's simple you see...

A evo makes about the same power to weight if not more and it's a turbo platform which is easier to mod and cheaper then a sc platform. If only given 5k to mod the evo would be victorious but your a mustang guy so you will do whatever to make it seem that I'm just some idiot and the cobra is just a monster of a car.

29k evo with almost 11whp per lb vs 34k+ for a cobra which is 10 whp almost 11 per lb.

Off of jut specs alone the evo already looks like a better car. We're are not discussing which would better platform down the road. I'm going off $vs$ then 5k for mods. Which car would someone of my generation go with ?

Your of a older crowed so your going mustang just because that's what I've been thought was a good car an with good reason. Could a evo be modded to run with 4 second mustangs....yes anything is possible. With the right amount of money anything can be done. Mustangs aren't the holly grail of performance cars . People in Japan have been making cars that out preform today's mustangs an that was in the early 90's....supra/skyline/Silvia...these are all stock power house cars that don't need a massive v8 to make power.

Your getting mad for no reason. I hate v8 too. But it is what it is. And as much I hate them,I do respect them. Every motor has potential and your willingness to work on them can make them faster. Some are easier to than others and require far less work. Now can you take a 2j and make big single turbo, injectors, tune and get 600 Hp. Sure. Those motors are well built too. Take a ls1. Cam, heads, exhaust, tune can get over 400 Hp. yes ls1 build can also get pricey bu that's n/a and arguably much safer than 400 Hp on stock motor ka-t setup.

Roush and Saleen models never were about huge performance for the money. A 2013 GT500 / 2013 GT500 Super Snake does have the most power per dollar for the money. Many top automotive reviewers have also claimed this. So this Roush doesnt have 600HP for 40k, you're an idiot for covering an entire platform based on some Roush Stage (X).

Evo 8 weight was 3262. Evo 8 avg hp was 230 at the tires. Some were as low as 190 and as high as 240.

03 Cobra weighes 3665. Avg rwhp was 370. Some as low as 360 and as high as 390.

Evo 8 - 230/3262=0.07
Cobra - 3665/370=0.10

Even if we bump up the hp to the highest on the Evo and cut its weight to 3000 lbs, and take an extra 10 hp off the lowest hp on the Cobra - the Cobra has better power to weight.
Evo 8 - 240/3000=0.08
Cobra - 350/3665=0.095

Its not even close.

The evo ran a 12.1 stock and the cobra was at 11.9 so that would be a drivers race.

Stated on wiki there were evos in 2003 that made 316hp and your saying 240.i highly doubt 240 was there actual number they put down because that's hardly a performance machine hell some of the new v6 accords almost make that.

A 240whp car ran a 12.1 and a 350whp car ran a 11.9

So a 4cyl sedan almost ran the same track time as a 03 cobra v8 power house. Again this shows off mustangs poor performance.
