Is there a law in Georgia requiring a third brake lamp? I have one but there is no harness or anything to hook it up to, just curious.

Passenger cars have been required to have factory installed third brake lighting since 1986. If your car is newer than 1986, then there should be a harness somewhere. Technically, I guess you could be fined for not having a working third brake light, but I'm not sure.

They won't bother you for it. I had a cf duckbill on my s2k that covers the 3rd brake light. no issues.

Yeah I don't think I've ever had a working 3rd brake light.

Yea, I know 86 and up is required from factory but I wonder if there is an actual GA. statute against it. I'm sure they could pull someone over and use it as an excuse regardless.

I shaved the third light on my GMC several years ago and drive it daily for over a year afterwards without a problem.

it required by federal govt to be manufactured with since 1986. However, it is supplimental and law only mandates that the 2 main rear lamps work at all times.
