No auto tune allowed.

My choice is eminem not because I'm white...

But because.....

there's alot of greats alive...i mean Eminem of course, Andre 3K, some up and coming folks that's going to shake the RAP world to it's core and bring back hip hop...Jay-Z (i know i'm about to get flack for naming him), Nas (although i'm not a big fan i respect flows) Cassidy is a very well slept on rapper IMHO, his lyrical metaphors and punch lines exceed that of many...not to mention Cam'ron, alot of people sleep on him calling his flow 'bubble gum rap' but if you ask me it's fukin ingenious...if you separate the seemingly simple rap and listen to what he's saying and he's able to 'construct it' to a seemingly overly simplified lyric..mind blowing. his earlier work is way easier for those of this generation, or any generation, but the boy is nice

i think Em could go in the top 5 alive...top 10 dead or alive

to top it off, they ended up being hits. then his battles...dear lord!!!! Em is a monster that every hip hop artist and rapper highly respects and realizes if you battle him, you better come correct. Jay and Nas arent necessarily battle rappers, as their battle showed, but Nas proved to be better at it....but if Nas and Em ever went at it...my $.02 is going on Em

Totally agree with this. I've never been a huge fan of Nas or Jay-Z, though of the two it would be Nas. Andre 3 stacks kills all that he comes near. Cee-lo used to be, is, and always be the shit despite his abrupt change in styles over the last decade.

Jay z has been the smartest.. Nas the poetic..had the potential to be the best of all time.. And was a game changer, DMX.. But the best of all time is Fred Durst.. Bah..

I never denied anything about his lyrics. I laughed at him being a G.O.A.T. I personally have never fallen on the Fem bandwagon. Never bought/downloaded anything from the dude. Is he good? Apparently a lot of people think so. Do I think he's good? He's ok. Do I think he's a G.O.A.T.? Nope. To me he's boring, he sounds the same and all his tracks sound the same. Most of the people who do think that didn't grow up throughout the history of rap and never really listened to the genre before him.

Best rapper ALIVE is probably Eminem, hard to argue with the amount of content he has alone.

Best rapper EVER, i know this is the cliche pick, but i've got to stick with Tupac. Even though Eminem is great, it often sounds like he has to try really hard to be great. Tupac could read you the mcdonalds menu and sell a million copies. I feel the same way about Snoop, everything he says sounds cool as shit. Plus, most rappers cant match 2pac's after death career. They may make another 2pac song tomorrow...

they dont need beef to make a living and the album wasnt stupid, shit was worthy and it was hip hop i dont care what anyone had to say about it.

slaughterhouse is good in their own right, but truthfully, out of that group only Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz are the only lyrics i listen/can listen to. i cant get w/ Royce or whoever the other guy is...if slaughterhouse had Yelawolf in it, i'd be .75 cents in...you'd get that if you listened to that freestyle 'em said the game needed change so he gave em 4 quarters'

Immortal Technique

Hopsin

Hopsin is like a black eminem, it would be great if he would make a song with eminem.
Immortal Technique is in a league if his own, cant compare him to no one else, he on some real shit
He really isn't though. His style and lyrics are really different than others, but to say he's in a league of his own...meh just like any other "Underground" rapper.

Again, you guys are only focusing on what you grew up on and heard. In order for your opinion on G.O.A.T. to be a little more valid is if you were listening to all eras and styles of hip hop. From the beginning. You're only talking about the best in your own time. Not of all time.

Okay I just saw this thread so that is why I'm quoting some older post's.

To me he's boring, he sounds the same and all his tracks sound the same.
You are saying Em sounds the same in all of his music? He has so many different voices it's ridiculous!

I thought he signed slaughterhouse and yelawolf

You are correct. Eminem signed Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf

i know he signed slaughter, i forgot if he signed yela, i dont think he did, but i know they are cool....he's not part of slaughter...he just signed the 4 quarters...they do their thing
Although he is not a part of Slaughterhouse, he does appear on 3 of their songs from the newest album. Also, Joe Budden voluntarily stepped aside to allow Em to appear get on the track.

Tell me what rap CDs are in your car right now if you dont like wiz.
Whats a CD? Funny thing is, I Rolling Papers started playing on my IPod on the way home today, and I was thinking about how that is the only album of Wiz I like.

Before I see anything about Lil' Wayne or anyone from Young Money...
YMCMB = You're Mad Cause Marshall's Better.

Also, this "freestyle" from Eminem is pretty awesome.

It wouldn't let me put two videos in one post...

Anyways,

As far as Slaughterhouse goes, I think they all fit so well together and they all respect each other. By that I mean, not one person in the group thinks they are above another and IMO none of them are I see all four of them as equally as talented as the others.

One of my favorite songs from Welcome to: Our House.

some truth based on what you've said i kind of agree...BUT at the same time...TRUTHFULLY a majority of those, at least those i know of, more or less had a simplistic, no lyrical word play, like that of Jeezy..they just spoke on what they knew...i'm basing off of lyrical content, wordplay, ability to battle etc...w/ that...that's why i have NO PROBLEM putting Eminem up there.

now dont get me wrong alot of those pioneers of hip hop/rap do get their due cred, but i dont think many outside of maybe Rakim had wordplay in their content.

I don't believe in there being a "best rapper" due to the fact that "rap" is a watered down version of what it used to be. Best lyricist alive on the other hand, IMO is Eminem.. not because I'm white, but because of how everything is intertwined. Multisyllable rhyme and it all flows with the beat.

Comparisons to Eminem - All of Slaughterhouse, but I believe Royce is the best. To truly show each member of Slaughterhouse's style, you'd have to listen to the Slaughterhouse megamix remix to Beamer, Benz, or Bentley.

As far who has my interest most captured at the moment - Jarren Benton.

I wont deny a bias for this reason. Anytime a person of your own color breaks into a realm where they are not usually prevalent, it is natural and normal to "pull for them". Even though i dont sit around thinking "man, i wish there were more white rappers" , when eminem first came about, him being white made him more interesting. The same as a black nfl QB, its not the "norm" so its natural for black people to wish them well or pull for them. I personally dont see a problem with this on this scale. Acknowledging Em's white bias also doesnt erase his accomplishments or volume of content.

to top it off, they ended up being hits. then his battles...dear lord!!!!

Being white in an industry dominated by blacks, he never would have been seen if he didnt battle.

Someone post up the Eminem ABC freestyle. That was classic.

dear sweet jesus lil wayne should NOT be on that list. He's hardly a rapper anymore....he just publishes anything he writes, and its allllllll been shit lately.

Relating to a rapper isnt always a good thing. I think rappers get too much credit for being "real" and not enough credit for being entertainers. Busta is a great example..... he doesnt have a 10th the street cred as other rappers, but he's 10x the performer as a lot of them. Most of his songs are talking about absolutely nothing..... but they were entertaining as shit. Busta was also a king of the now extinct music video era.

okay, to all you Em lovers, where would you say is the mecca of rap?? Detroit or New York??? New York, right??? okay. If you ever been to the city of New York, im not talking tourist, but to the streets of the Bronx, to the projects and basketball courts there, you will see and hear people that literally eat, sleep, rap; day in and day out, all they do is perfect their lyrics, and im not talking about rap like poeple here in ATL, i have heard them when i used to live in Dekalb county and that's not rap, people from New York, i can honestly say, KNOW rap, go tell them that Em is the best rapper of all time and they will laugh in your face, you may even get slapped. You have to listen to all the underground freestylers up there, Em is not even on the same level, and most of the people that dont understand Jay-Z is because you have to think about his lyrics, you dont just listen to it, i did not like him at first, but when i started getting his style, that's when i became a real fan.

If i had to say who is the best one alive, i would say Jay-Z, he has been around long enough, and he has the money and record sales to prove it, Em has not even been out long enough to be even called the best rapper, but then again most people that are posting on here DONT really know rap, you know more rock/alternative than you do rap, so..........to you Em is the best, go you!, just dont say that around some black people that listen to nothing but rap

So, let me get this straight..... people from NY know more about rap than people from Atlanta because people from NY like rappers from NY more than rappers from Atlanta? i guess that makes sense, aside from not making sense.

Jayz has been around long enough to be considered the best ever, but Eminem hasnt? Can we put Eminem in the argument next year then? because Jayz put out his first album 1 year before Eminem put out his first album.

Maybe in the next life i will be born black so i can fully understand rap music, personally... i cant see how the color of my skin changes my understanding of the english language or music, but i'll take your word for it and give you the benefit of the doubt that you have no racial bias, even though nearly everything that you post would lead me to that conclusion.

"scientific" explanation why Eminem is the best rapper ever. Hey Franco, maybe the depth of Em's lyrics are going over your head. Try listening with a dictionary in hand or playing them in slow motion. Also, with a quick google search, you could just read the lyrics at your own pace and give them a little extra time to soak in.

Not claiming to be a rap pro, just pointing out obvious deficiencies in your comments. You say "dont say Em is the best around black people that know rap" i post videos of black people who rap, who are also regarded as some of the best rappers.... saying Em is the best rapper. You say people like me dont like Jayz because his lyrics go over my head, so i post a scientific breakdown of how Em's lyrics are more complex than "jigga man". You say Eminem isnt old enough but Jayz is, i point out that they started at nearly the same time. I broke down every comment you made piece by piece.

No need to PM me, i would prefer for people to be able to share in the "wisdom" you would like to pass on to me.

While I agree that Jay-Z is an amazing lyricist, I just dont feel like his lyrics compete with eminem's. Also, you made no valid points franco and your theory on knowing rap and new york being the mecca of rap is absolutely retarded.

Although Jay Z didnt put out an album since 95/96.. He was rapping w/ JazO, LL Cool J like in 88/89.. You can find some of those early songs... Why JayZ didnt realease before hand.. I dont know...but I can remember Jay Z from those years...

But eminem doesn't have nearly as much inventory. I'm talking about record sales. Jay has clothing and all that other BS.

i'm talking EVERYTHING!!!!!! you on Em jock too much. like i said if everything is taken into account, i'm putting Jay as the best, period...Dre is #1 on that list, but i dont see his lyrics having what Jay's does...jay tells stories metaphorically and does it fukin awesome...while he's making money off of records he's making money in other avenues. Em is a better lyricist than Jay, i'd probably give him that..but everything considered. Jay is better

Eminem is better than Jayz.

Jayz's fame is a product of brainwash, he's been telling you he was the greatest rapper since his first CD came out.....

YES EM is better than Jay lyrically..i'm talking about collectively, incorporating everything...Jay is the best, if not the best to ever do it..i cant think of another rapper who was able to put together as many masterpieces like Jay, have a life outside of it and still be on the up and up in money making...COLLECTIVELY..Jay is better. lyric for lyric...yes Em is better...i dont remember Jay for punch lines that make you say "ooooooooooooooo" Jay's lines make you think and say "damn"

OAN: alot of rappers claim they are the best...IJS
