It's called what did you do today.

I'll start.

Had to work this morning, got home around 1:00pm

Sent wife out to mow lawn, I had shit to do.

My son wants to be R2D2 for Halloween... Nobody makes a R2D2 costume for a 7 year old. Cutting up a trash can to make one, looks like you cut up a trash can and slapped some paint on it.

Step 1: Buy 12" concrete tube

Step 2: Start cutting with sawzall

Step 3: Realize that was a bad idea and continue with jig saw... Because my brother moved to Seattle with my table saw FML... But I digest.

Step 4: Think to myself... Myself, I should take pictures of this and get the camera.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x249/Echonova1/R2D2002_zps4b813bba.jpg

Step 5: Primer and paint tube... Still need to cut it down some more, but that will come later.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x249/Echonova1/R2D2003_zps5137dbb3.jpg

Step 6: Start forming the head piece. Basic structure to attach chicken wire and then paper-mache to. This is going to be attached to an old bicycle helmet.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x249/Echonova1/R2D2004_zpsbd25787c.jpg

Step 7: Drink a beer, because dammit I earned it. Take another picture.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x249/Echonova1/R2D2001_zps52ba3ee3.jpg

Step 8: Do quick sketch of R2's body...

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x249/Echonova1/R2D2007_zps01d29a5c.png

Step 9: Spray adhesive is your friend. Still need to cut the bottom down some more... I'll do that later

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x249/Echonova1/R2D2008_zpsf8448e6a.png

Step 10: Drink another beer, call it a night, forget about how much is still left to do and post thread on IA.

Who else wants to play?

Does your wife have a stockpile? We keep a rotating stock in our pantry room. At most we have about 3 months supply of food/toiletries at any given time for emergencies. I'm not trying to have 38 years worth of paper towels (toilet paper would be ok though, can never have too much of that) LOL. Mostly it's a "worst case scenario" stash and don't have room for much more... Until children start moving out.

My ultimate goal is to have one year minimum for my family of 5. But I'm starting to build that by using shelf-stable stuff like this that lasts like 25 years...
Buckets of Food Pouches - TruPrep Emergency Preparedness (http://truprep.com/store/food/buckets-of-pouches.html)

Now, I'm not preparing for doomsday, my thinking behind it is (God forbid) if some disaster happens, we could be completely self-sufficient for weeks or months if necessary. If I have enough food to feed my family for a year, I would have food to spare to help my neighbors during that same crisis period. I've got a metric-shit ton of bottled water, because I can store that in the garage.

Edit: Grow coral? Is there money in that?

That's a pretty good goal. After watching The Walking Dead, I feel like I should stockpile for a disaster or something. lol
