just saw obamas new attack ad against romney. Its of a trash man who says hes the guy who picks up romneys trash from his million dollar mansion and how romney is such a out of touch rich person because he lives in a mansion and the trash guy lives in a small apartment. I threw up in my mouth a little bit after I saw the ad. how pathetic is obama trying to dive this country even more just so he can get re-elected? Obama's only chance of getting re-elected is to use class war-fare. its pathetic.

it's ok for one attack, but not another? they gona be at each other's throats until the election is over, get over it. all i see is Obama using the '47%' that Mitt spoke about to speak up.

Obama pretending to be a common man is pretty hilarious. Obama has never worked a job his entire life. The stories about Obama's youth are lies. Obama's mother was a bank manager and was part of the 1%. Obama's riches came from writing a book about himself.
Everything the left thinks they hate is what they continue to vote for. Obama is the "fat cat" of all fat cats.

They wouldn't. This "Obamas never had a job" debate is about as far removed from reality as the birther debate. Which would only make the GOP side look crazier than they already are. They're trying to win moderates, and moderates aren't that stupid.

Attack ads are pretty stupid. Of course if there were no attack ads, politicians would have to run on their record, and someone who would actually foster some change in this country would have a landslide victory, and we can't have that

Yeah, you could be right. Acting like there's nothing but bible thumping, gun toting, and pickup driving rednecks below Illinois is all in good fun though. The republican party is the "racist redneck party". That's all in good taste.
Obama has never had a job. There's plenty of questionable things to point out about Obama's past, but you have to be very very careful about what you chose to talk about. If you attack Obama too hard.... it could only mean one thing...............

I watch the news a lot. I read a lot of social media. Racial topics are pretty common from a day to day basis. I'm not sitting in the dark and pulling racial topics out of thin air. Usually i'm responding to something i've seen that day on the news. Even in non political threads, i've seen the posts that i'm referring to. Am i saying no one is entitled to their own thoughts? No, have your thoughts, IJS everyone be respectful about it.
At the end of the day, everyone is going to gravitate to what they believe in, what they are around and have had to deal with, which everyone is entitled to that, I just dont see forcing the hand of anyone to believe something they dont want to believe because they had to deal with life in a different view, or just have differing views, period.

No a majority of economists have not. Only 9 out of 17 that CNN interviewed. Sample size of 17 is not something you can draw such conclusions from. They also only mentioned three by name (never heard of them), who knows if these people are really "top economists". Many of their critiques weren't even policy related, they were things like "Romney might be more likely to get Congress to do something". I think Romney probably would be better for the economy at least in the short term but this article is pretty much meaningless.

I understand that. The media may chose who to put the mic in front of, but that doesnt change that person or what they say. It's more than media, i'm speaking to my surroundings. I just went and ate lunch at a local place. Let me tell you about the experience which is all to common..........
I walk in, order some hot wings, sit down in an empty place and am enjoying my food. Few minutes later, black couple walks in. Girl is wearing skin tight rainbow color zebra print type pants and a neon top, the guy is dressed normal with jeans and a polo but his pants nearly around his knees so low to the point you can almost see his legs below his boxers. The girl speaks to me when she walks in, normal conversation "oh i didnt know they served hotwings here, are they good" yada yada small talk, she seems friendly. At this point 2 more people walk in, another younger woman and a 40ish year old woman who joins the couple. The girl asks her assumed boyfriend for $2 so she can order hotwings in which he responds "bitch, i aint tryin to give you no money". The girl, i guess being used to this type of response, doesnt complain and asks the older lady who is her aunt. Her aunt gives her $2 and she orders. By this time, the other girl is walking out the door with her order. The guy says to her "hey girl, you need to call me", she turns around and says "who the fuck is you nigga?" he says "hold up bitch, come look at my phone at all the bitches i got hollerin at me right now, thats who i am bitch". that girl leaves, few moments later the same guy looks out the window and says "look at this bitch right here, ive gotta go holla at her" and walks outside. few minutes later the girl's aunt asked where did he go and his "girlfriend" replies, hes out there talkin to that whore. Few minutes later he comes back in and stands back with the two girls and keeps lookin thru his phone. Few minutes later he runs to the door, opens it and yells out "hey!!!!!!! look at you bitches, who are you bitches with??" to a crowd of 2-3 girls walking in another store.
This literally happened 10 minutes ago. This is normal day to day interaction here. I comment based on what i see from a day to day basis. I am doing nothing more than voicing an opinion based on personal experience. I'm not thinking what the media tells me to think.
I'm sorry, i know this is so hard to believe.......... but my opinion has nothing to do with skin color, but i cant ignore skin color. The coolest person i know is black. I know lots of great black people. I know being black has nothing to do with how a person acts, but i simply cant ignore that 7 out of 10 experiences i have with black people are negative. The term stereotype means to apply a statement that relates to individuals to the entire group. I am guilty of that....... i stereotype a lot, but im not a racist.

No. I believe this president is absolutely horrible and is the worst person we could possibly have running our country. I'm not nitpicking him for not being "good enough". We elected a president whos experience was being a part time teacher and an author who wrote a book about himself. A man that spent most of his life rubbing elbows with extremist members of the black panther party and reading marxist literature.
He gets elected and goes on the biggest government spending spree in the history of our nation, piles up the biggest debt in the history of our nation, gets the first credit downgrade in the history of our nation and even though what he studied was constitutional law, he now seeks to globalize our constitution with the UN.

Liberals call republicans racist, but what you dont see is Mitt Romney or any other candidate giving speeches to the KKK. Obama has attended black panther rallies and gave speeches asking for their support. One of the first actions by Obama's staff when he took office was to drop charges on "the cracker killer". "the cracker killer" was already found guilty and awaiting sentencing. Because of Obama, these charges were dropped. Any explanation for that?

Because he speaks he at their rallies asking for their support and has criminal charges dropped on members of their group who pose as domestic terrorists.
Let's read a few quotes from the man Obama felt the need to let out of jail. anything for a vote......
“I love white-on white-crime, because that is the best crime.”
“I hate the g*ddamn white man, woman, and child, grandma, aunt, uncle, Pappa Billy Bob, and whoever else.”
“You should be thankful we’re not running around here hanging crackers by nooses and all that kind of stuff — yet, yet, yet”
He has a “wet dream about killing the g*ddamn cracker.”
“We don’t allow faggots and lesbians” in the New Black Panther Army
Envisions a world where every black person is “ready to bang on this cracker”
Wants to take over neighborhoods “block by block” so “crackers…or even the developer” would be scared to come into them
“We’re taught to send this cracker to the cemetery… so kiss ‘em goodbye”
waiting on you Blank.

I dont see a problem with acknowledging race. It's something we do in all aspects of society both for good and bad reasons.
There isn't anything wrong with it if it is relevant. But I usually have a hard time seeing as how it is relevant to many of your posts. It's more curious too because you regularly acknowledge the black race but rarely others and it always seems to be in a negative context.

Unfortunately..... that is my experience. I would love to not have negative things to talk about, but im not going to stop until theyre not there.
I comment on anything i see and disagree with..... it's not limited to black people.

I'm going to give you some time to research it and properly present your case with facts and evidence (I need more than that picture without Shabazz in it you've already posted. I don't want to see what Sean Hannity thinks about it, or Bill O'Reiley thinks about it. I want credible sources. You talking about Crawford v. Marion County?
Dont remember the exact case. I only heard about it while listening to POTUS on XM. The challenges you hear about now are not about the ID requirement, but with the administration.
How much harder is it for blacks to get an ID? I'm white so mine was easy to get. What extra requirements do blacks have?

I don't disagree completely with you on this. The economists have no better foresight than anyone else, and forecasting the future is always uncertain and usually pretty meaningless; however, the panel is the same construct though that you like to use when it goes the way that you want it to. You only will agree with a poll if it supports your agenda though.

Actually, everything he said was true and people dispute the cause of the protest.
Obama's admin, and Obama himself have said the cause of the protest was the youtube movie. Thats not true at all. The protest and attack were planned ahead of time.
Clinton also attributed attacks on U.S. diplomatic offices in Libya and other Middle East nations to an anti-Islam video "that we had nothing to do with." Clinton said, "it is hard for the American people to make sense of that because it is senseless and it is totally unacceptable."

Good luck.I'm with blank on this one. Key words here are "spoke at a black panther rally". He didn't. They both spoke and marched in the 2007 Selma rally... But that was not a "Black Panthers" event. They were both just simply at the same time, same place, for different motivations. However, this was the same visit to Selma where Obama credited the 1965 marchers with empowering his black father and white mother to marry… Obama was born in 1961. He was off by 4 years. But, it made a good speech.

If you reread my reply I said I think Romney probably would boost the economy more at least in the short term but I assure you my agenda is not to support Romney. I have no problem with you referencing such an article for discussion purposes. My problem was that you made a claim that "most economists prefer Romney" based on a poll of 17 people. That's very misleading whether I like what you are saying or not.

I dont recall ever having a Romney 100% win approach.......... you'd probably be very surprised how much we would have in common. On most social issues i lean in favor of Obama. I'm an atheist so religious affiliation doesnt matter to me, I'm also pro choice, and i support gay rights. If i could pick who won..... i'd take Ron Paul. With the options i'm left with, i'll vote for Romney. Obama's record as president speaks for it'self. Unless you're willing to blame all of the problems on Bush, there's no logical way to call the last 4 years a success. I'm not thrilled about Romney, but it seems pretty clear to me that Obama needs to go. I'll tone down the race acknowledgements for now, but i was simply commenting on what i was reading. Again, it's all in just WHO is writing what.....NOT on FACT.
This is why so many people went to the polls to vote for a President because "I'm not gonna have to pay for my mortgage no' mo'", "I'm not gonna have to pay to go to the Dr. no' mo'", and the best of all....."He's black" as the "reason" for voting for him. Haven't a clue about his stances on anything else, yet casted a ballot and elected him on one or more of those brilliant and insightful assumptions. How's that happen? Because grown folks who haven't a clue how to balance a check book, yet are fully legally allowed to cast a ballot for the highest elected office in the world, watch TV and go on the internet all the time to get their information regurgitated to them never once questioning WHO is saying that and does it make any sense at all.
Take a look at your "source" for the Rush Limbaugh spin: (this is a direct quote from THEIR own website)
"PoliticusUSA was founded in February of 2008 by Jason Easley. Jason had a vision of a liberal and independent news site which would offer a mix politics and opinion in an unfiltered environment, not beholden to any specific political or media agenda. PoliticusUSA is by design accessible to all levels of readers. Whether you are a casual follower of current events or a policy wonk, there is something here at PoliticusUSA for you.
“If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people-their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties-someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a Liberal.”~J.F.K. In other words, if you are to the left of Ayn Rand Tea Party Social Darwinism, if you think we have some responsibility for the poor, the elderly, the veterans, the disabled, and the vulnerable in society, welcome to PoliticusUSA."
I highlighted the interesting parts.
So a LIBERAL and SOCIALIST website spun a comment made by a super CONSERVATIVE and controversial talk show host......surprised????.....REALLY?
The ironic thing is this: Rush Limbaugh is NOT running for ANY political office in any state, especially the President. So WHY is it that so many people use HIM as if he was? He's not the poster child for Republicans, is he? So all of a sudden because someone agrees with our view that makes them US too? In other words, if I said something that I believe in and for some odd reason a KKK member happens to agree with that one thing I said.....does that make ME anything? He/she just agreed with what I said. Doesn't mean I agreed with him or her.
The spin doctors will always continue to cloud the water in order to avoid having to face the REAL issues. It's a diversion tactic. Nothing more, nothing less. The idiots out there who can't do anything for themselves unless the "Gobment" gives it to them of course want more of it. They didn't have to work for what they're getting now, so why would they ever want that to stop? Liberal Socialists want the "Gobment" to masticate the food they eat for them and to be sure and take from the big bad rich to give to the poor. So OF COURSE they are going to find any and all reasons to keep a President in office by spinning every single nugget they can possibly spin doctor their way......WHY?????......simply because they are forced to face the real FACTS they are SOL.
Simple and direct question:
- Name, list, find, CREDIBLE and NOT spun liberal media facts about President Obama's accomplishments during his Presidency.
.blank cd
10-05-2012, 02:30 PM
Take a look at your "source" for the Rush Limbaugh spin: (this is a direct quote from THEIR own website)If I'm referencing a direct quote from Rush Limbaughs own two lips, does it matter where I got the quote from? I wasn't referring to what the editors thought about it, I'm referring to what Limbaugh actually said. I could have plucked the same thing from Limbaughs own archived broadcast and delivered the same message.
Simple and direct question:
- Name, list, find, CREDIBLE and NOT spun liberal media facts about President Obama's accomplishments during his Presidency.
Biases based on reporting document-able evidence shouldn't be categorized as liberal leaning (which is what I feel like is happening here), unless you define a liberal lean as fact based. I define liberal leaning as biased towards liberal viewpoints in a overt or covert manner. I think "liberal" has been subconsciously defined here as the opposite of conservative. While I agree there is absolutely a such thing as "liberal bias", it is itself blatantly obvious, and distinguishable from fact based reporting. However, I feel as if it's increasing in occurrence now that if you report discernible facts and truths without the conservative spin you are placed subconsciously into a de-facto state of liberal preference. Which in itself I do not define as "liberal".

So, if the majority of reporting agencies say something you don't like, you just ignore it. AP, Reuters, etc, are used for print, tv, and internet.
How did you get that from my response? What I said was that just because it is reported doesn't make it true. The CNN article stated "A majority of economists prefer Romney" when the details in the article did not support that statement. It has nothing to do with whether I like Romney or not. I didn't realize it was controversial to say we shouldn't take everything the media says as gospel truth. It seems like you just want to argue for the sake or arguing.

US jobless rate falls to 7.8 pct., 44-month low (http://m.yahoo.com/w/legobpengine/news/us-jobless-rate-falls-7-8-pct-44-123110986--finance.html?orig_host_hdr=news.yahoo.com&.intl=US&.lang=en-US)
I dont put much faith into the UE numbers, especially when you use the U3 rate.
I do question a few things here though. First the facts from the BLS report.
1. We added 114k jobs over the last month.
2. 235k people returned to the work force.
3. July number were adjusted +40k to +181k
4. August numbers were revised up from +46+ to +142k
5. Economist consensus says the US economy needs 125k jobs per month to keep up with population inflation.
Just over the past 3 months, with the inclusion of the revisions, the numbers simply dont add up.
Over the last 3 months job roles are up 437k.
Over the last 3 months we needed to create 610k jobs to keep up with population inflation and those returning to the job market just to stay even.
Considering this info, how did the rate drop .3%?

Sure, a 9 of 17 is a majority. Can't argue with that math. What I am arguing about is that it is a meaningless sampling and will probably mislead people into thinking that a majority OF ALL ECONOMISTS feel that way. Hey I just asked three people on the street who they were voting for and they said Obama. Would it be responsible for me to write an article and title it "100% of Georgians plan to vote for Obama"?

It's as meaningful as the way the job numbers are polled.
If you looked at the percentage that those 17 make up of all professional US economists, and looked at the percentaged of those polled on the job rate against all individuals over 18 in the US, I suspect that the percentage would be greater on the polled economists. There aren't that many well-known and well-respected economists, and there are a lot of people eligilbe for work in the US. Yet, some people have no problem with the small sampling for the job numbers - when they support their political position.

If I'm referencing a direct quote from Rush Limbaughs own two lips, does it matter where I got the quote from? I wasn't referring to what the editors thought about it, I'm referring to what Limbaugh actually said. I could have plucked the same thing from Limbaughs own archived broadcast and delivered the same message.
And Rush is running for WHAT office exactly????? This is simply a strategy to muddy the water away from the real issue. Real issue is below and no one can answer that question to a level of satisfaction to sway my vote to Obama. My own check book answers that question loud and clear.
Fact is that during Obama's sitting presidency he has NOT accomplished anything of value nor meaning. If he has, list it. If you can't, then why would you or anyone else vote for him? Answer that simple question.
Saw a quote this morning that applies here clearly:
Directly from OBAMA'S nomination acceptance speech at the NDC in 2008 and referring to his opponent.......
"If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things."
So let's see......back when Obama was the challenger he stood on a platform of "Change" from the oppressive regime that alienated "poor" people and "rewarded the rich white people". Now, fast forward 4 yrs, and HE who has not accomplished a single meaningful thing nor promise he stood up so high for and so many fools bought into blindly just because of the color of his skin is the one that has paid millions of dollars (none of which is his own money) to try and steer the public's eye away from his OWN lack of accomplishments to his opponent's ONE ANALOGY/EXAMPLE of "BIG BIRD" on Sesame Street?????? Really? Sesame Street? When the Middle East is about to blow up.....when we are Gazillions in debt......when unemployment is off the charts......when the economy is the worst is ever been in decades.....when we have immigration issues.....when we have unnecessary dependency on foreign oil which fuels that same Middle East blow up.......REALLY???? Freaking BIG BIRD is all you got after you looked like a fool on National TV to 60+ million of your constituents?????? Where's that "CHANGE" now? WHAT exactly has "CHANGED" for the better in 4yrs???? Someone please tell me.
Maybe we'll see a smear ad where the Democrats claim that "you are what you eat" or "I'm rubber and you're glue". Considering they are so focused on Big Bird and following the rhyme of what's good for the goose is NOT good for the gander, maybe they should stick to that course because running on the platform of "CHANGE" and accomplishments will likely not be so easily sold this time. Maybe they'll have high ranking Senators and Congressmen threaten to take people's "color" away if they don't vote for Obama. That may scare a few million in the herd. That may help his margin of victory.
Still challenge anyone to quit dancing around the excuses and LIST his accomplishments during his Presidency.......Hell, during his lifetime since he was already the LEAST qualified candidate in history to have ever been elected to begin with. LIST it. 1,2,3,4......if you can find them. LIST THEM. Obama campaign can't or they'd used it to death by now. Someone else try.

Actually you are mistaken on the math behind statistical significance. It is not as simple as what percentage of the total.
To determine unemployment for the US Population of 300 million, you only need to ask 1067 people to get a result that has a margin of error of 3% with a 95% confidence level.
To determine the opinion of the top 100 economists with the same 3% margin of error and 95% confidence level, you need to ask 92 of them.
Now the article only asked 17 (out of the top 100 economists lets say). Their result was 9 of 17 or 53%. With a 95% confidence level, guess what the margin of error is. ..... almost 22%. So the conclusion of the article should be "Somewhere between 31% and 74% of top economists think Romney is better for the economy."

First, it is important to note that everyone has different values so just because he hasn't done anything that you value or find meaningful, doesn't mean everyone agrees. It doesn't make you or them wrong, it's just a difference in values. I don't plan to vote for Obama but he has done some things that I value. I could similarly list things he has done that I do not support but since you asked for the ones I do value, here is a short list in no particular order.
1. Subsidized new sustainable energy technologies
2. Lowered my taxes (lower payroll tax, homebuyer credit, etc)
3. Made it illegal to deny health coverage for those with preexisting conditions, no lifetime benefit caps, healthcare exchanges, etc.
4. Repealed don't ask don't tell
5. Drawing down troops in the middle east

All the polls are meaningless. Only the electoral collee poll matters in the long run. The media just loves to stir up controversy to generate more profits.
Asking 1067 does not get you a cross-section of 300 million, in and of itself. You have to look at different region, economic levels, industrues, age, races, genders, etc. 1067 is not enough to achieve this, period. Do you think that you are going to get the same answer from a well-to-do 70 year old white pig farmer in OK, as from a single mother-of-3 black woman in NYC, who just got laid off from her job? It's not possible to get enough sampling from 1067 for conclusions or relible calculations on ANY subject. f it could, we wouldn't need to have an election at all. We could just make a few phone calls (all to Chicago, of course).

My point was and still is that the 17 economist poll is useless and will only mislead people. That's it. I'm trying not to get pulled off on a tangent to analyze any other kind of polling. Funny side note though, there are a significant number of economists and mathemeticians who think should decide elections via relatively small samples of polling.

How did Ryan come off as "without knowledge" he produced as much stats and substance as Biden if not more. Biden came well prepared, he tried to turn it into a fight and not a stat match. He knows Ryan is well studied and that's why he tried to make it as much of a "bar brawl" as he could. Ryan is very much a political book worm, he knows his stats and figures.
