View Full Version : So Varsity is finally done?

Just saw about 20 minutes ago that The Varsity page announced they are no longer allowing the meet anymore. Seems another moron did something again there last night to cause a shit load of cops to show and The Varsity is closing the meet down. Discuss.

I saw cops there on the way home. I always forget about that meet but then i get reminded when i had 40 Bikes doing 100 mph by me last night on my way home from the gym.

I personally blame the people there that sit there and let the shitbags get away with doing stupid things. Take responsibility for "your meet" and punish the kids doing stupid shit.

I prefer my meet over them all. The one where I dress casually...with a bottle of rum...some coke and have a damn good night! The one where I wake up the following day....going "Fuck me. That was a great meet."

Even though the meet is pure shit I know it means a lot to many of the OG's in the car scene in Atlanta. I went last night for the first time since winter, now I'm glad I did so I can officially say I attended the last Varsity meet.

I had a lot of good times with some very awesome people in that parking lot. It sad all the ghetto ass bullshit has ruined such a long standing tradition.

(apologize for bad engrish, been awake for a hour)

I'm sure Varsity sees it as a liability, from insurance or Marketing perspective. From insurance, All those cars/bikes/people in one place where someone is doing something stupid, and someone's gonna get hurt. When that person gets hurt, they're gonna sue Varsity. (Here comes the marketing part) That's gonna mean bad headlines, and lost business.

Besides, most people at the meet weren't eating there (which I think the OG's and the bikers were), so while Varsity wasn't making anything for the space they own (and that HAS to be expensive in that part of ATL).

So basically what happened was..... biker got caught doing XXX mph on the highway (like they always do), didnt stop for the cops (like they never do), and led them to the varsity on a police chase and attempted to hide in a group of other bikes? Then when the police got to the varsity, they were probably greeted by a bunch of yelling disrespectful teenage douchebags, so the police contacted the varsity owners and asked "hey, why you guys let all these douchebags stay here? do they even buy food or just take up space?" in which the varsity replied... " you know what, i dont know.... lets get rid of these douchebags"

The Rif-Raff Donk Driving Hood-Rat Cutlure is Social Herpes to Malls, Car Meets, Night Clubs, etc.

Once they show up, they fester and infect until a remedy is called for. Most respectible enthusiasts will simply avoid the mess and move on.

This is EXACTLY what happened. Though the V probably makes a fair amount of sales on the meet days considering the flow of people. Clearly they've tolerated the Thursday meets for years without having a problem, even when the whole cars doing burnouts thing was happening. But APD rampted up their presence and it stopped and never came back. It's not surprising the bikes fucked it up.

As a motorcycle enthusiast myself, I can say this is inaccurate. They give tickets for anything if you are stupid as fuck and choose not to follow the rules of the road. Me personally, I tend to follow the rules of the road and often ride slower than most other motorcycle on the road.

Last time I was there someone knocked the mirror off my Lotus and someone flashed a gun at us and said "someone needs to be shot" when a buddy requested a biker not park inches from his car. I'll be honest here, and say that the VAST majority of car enthusiasts I've met under 25 yrs old, are complete immature idiots and assholes. There are some who are good people, down to earth and have a level head, but for some reason in the car community these people are a minority. This might also be a determining factor of why the car scene is crap because the scene is comprised of nothing more than mindless lemmings.

As another biker i can honestly say that this guy is a pretty fair representation of bikers. There's pretty much two types of bikers. Those who dont stop for police and those who are scared of their bikes. I'm absolutely amazed at how many people just blatantly do not give a fuck about police when theyre on a motorcycle. take a glance at the responses in another forum i frequent on this question......

i met up with a new group of bikers when i went to florida, people had the same mentality there and i had at least a dozen people tell me "if you're going over 100 theyre not allowed to chase you, so just do 100+ on the highway and if they do decide to try and stop you, blow by them and get off an exit"

However it will fuck up your car. But seriously, bike vs a car. Who do you think will win? I would rather the cops think a little and let the guy go. Atlanta has a no chase policy anyways so they radio ahead. No officer is stupid enough to chase after a bike. They may take off after the guy but that's only so they are in the area when that person wrecks.

I also like how law enforcement sees texting and talking on your cell phone is bad. Yet, they talk on a radio and type on a computer constantly. Along with doing other shit..

I'd trust the cop to do that with some training versus dumb blonde that can barely keep her car on the road to begin with texting.

Cops have to go beyond the law to catch a criminal. There is a line that's too far, but for instance to catch a person speeding in their car, if the officer never broke the speed limit he would be unable to catch the suspect and give a ticket etc...A cop using a radio while driving....totally fine. There are things that cross the line but that is not one of them.

lol I'm not talking about them just using their radio. I'm saying talking on their cell phone, radio, and typing on a computer while driving is not safe. There is no special training for that. I understand they have to do some thing while driving which is fine. I also understand they have to speed to catch some people, but there's a line with that. Like I said, a bike passes a cop car that is either stopped or going 50. While the bike is doing 120+, there is no way in hell the cop can catch him in his car unless one of these things happen. He's smart and radio's ahead for assistants or the guy on the bike fucks up and wrecks. The thing I WILL NOT agree with is a cop trying to catch a crotch rocket in a cop car. That is a useless chase IMO and will always be one. Most cop cars take forever and a day to hit 120 from a dead stop anyways. It's about like taking a single cam civic and trying to keep up with a lambo when you compare a cop car chasing a crotch rocket. Even a 600cc bike. Just not gonna happen.

The new Dodge police vehicles will have a better shot, still won't keep up, but much much faster and able (even in corners) than the current popular models. lol

It is what it is. Anyone with any common sense should know the risk if they decide to run. I mean, if you're gonna run, you should know what you're running from and be confident in your skills lol.
