just curious if i'm the only bammer that decided to go this route instead of modifying the car to 'race' it :D

i love RCs.... but not the small ones......

Once i got to a point where modifying an RC car was nearly as expensive as a real car.... i faded away from RCs.

this is how an RC is suppose to look

I've always wanted a good, cool, R/C, but too good the better ones, you do need to spend some money and every time I got the kind of money to get something, I'd have something better to spend it on.

When I lived on the river, I had an R/C speed boat that was kind of cool. But the 15 foot waterfall was too tempting and I sent it over.

I just now caught this was about mini R/Cs. Fuck that. I wouldn't get any enjoyment out of that.

that's the reason i never got into that scale r/c car, dont get me wrong, that's a nice fukin setup...my funds at that time and hell even now dont allow me to drop that kind of money into a r/c and into my actual vehicles. you had any competition/races for it?

so i shyed away from them..until now

https://instagr.am/p/PH4elTJYWx/media/?size=l

of course what you looking at is pretty much a stock setup on mine, as i'm a newb in it and trying to learn my car before i just drop mods on it. i do plan on getting a decent amount of mods this weekend tho.

it's a cheap buy in...$200 for the car and for the cheapest controller which is still pretty decent, $90...basically highest price per part is no more than $50-60/part...that's including upgrading the engine. but i'd recommend anyone new to it to get used to the car stock first then gradually upgrade because it's hard to drive the car stock.

i look at it like this...it's cheaper than modyifing a car and you can beat the hell out of your r/c and not have to worry about 'how am i going to get back home after blowing an engine/snapping an axle' type deal.

he has vehicles this size as well as rock crawlers, i dont know the price of those, as it's cool as hell to watch, i'm not THAT interested to buy and build a rock crawling truck to do what he does...here's a pic of his custom one that he's done at the shop:

It looks like it might be interesting, but I wouldn't be interested in the racing aspect as much as just to run it around the neighborhood or something.

No pics of the boat. It was nothing fancy. Just a basic, stock cigarette boat that would run up and down the river.

i understand that, bigger vehicles are more fun to run around the house/neighborhood, etc, but i like the competition aspect of it and actually having some challenge to it and seeing what change mods make to it. like i was practicing one day for 4-5hrs and went right back the next day to do more practicing and still wasnt satisfied. i'd probably be outside w/ a big car for about an hr before i was ready to hang it up. unless it's like buggy racing on a dirt track..that's fun!!

An off road vehicle would be the shizznit to play with. Having a car would be ok, but I would probably get something that I could go pretty much everywhere with as opposed to just on hard surfaces.

thats understandable..i mean r/c is vast so it does cater to every field of mobility. but i love road course racing, which is why i fell in love w/ mini z's

Remember a decade back (when you were in elementary school, I presume) when those little "mod racers" or whatever they were called, came out? They came in those egg shaped containers? Lolol.

^^That video shows it takes a little skill to get around those smaller, tighter tracks.

yea that's what i like about it..it looks easy watching them go around it, but when you get at it you realize teh skill it takes.

If i were gonna get back into it, id have to get an off road. Having a track prepped car isnt much fun until race days. There's so much prep into racing them that you cant really enjoy them much in a parking lot... plus, you have to find a parking lot. With a truck, you can just ride in your yard or any other place. I enjoyed painting and tuning the cars more than i did playing with them.

^ to sammich above question, they used to have an RC park here with some permanent tracks built with banks and such, not like the usual PVC pipes in a parking lot. They raced every weekend and kept a seasonal points tally with some prizes and trophies. As i got older i started doing real cars instead of RCs. I easily had a couple grand into 3 RCs, 1 nitro touring car, 1 battery touring car and a bolink legends car that they had a specific class for. The legends was probably the most fun, the others were too serious.... people would get in fights over crashes and such... Legends was like nascar, your car had to pass an inspection and could only have specific parts on it, you couldnt use different motors or anything, all the cars were even. Gas powered = money wins. if they still did legends, id race them. they were cool as shit

dope ass R/C that's still yours?

that's cool about the organized event too, i'd definitely love to go to one of those races, but w/ the money spent in those more expensive r/c's i'd rather just mess w/ my real car, but they are definitely sweet to look at, can't speak on tuning, because i've never really tuned, tweaked, etc w/ the bigger r/c's, not even the big gas truck i had about 2 yrs back
