What kinda back surgery? If you can stand it try not to get the surgery alot of people end up worse off. I know Im probably going to have it again one day.

Disk replacement. Bad herniated disk in lower lumbar. Nothing else has worked. I don't know if I want to keep getting steroid/cortisone shots all the time. Believe me, surgery is NOT where I want to go with my back. Later, QD.

I've heard horror stories. Everyone who I know says avoid it at all costs. (except for one friend with scoliosis who had it done when he was a kid)

Have you tryed a Inversion table? Luckaly I did not have to have back surgery but I am recovering from a spinal cord injury. I had a fracture at t10.When I was at the shepard center hospital the older guy next to me had the same disk surgery and some how the doctor messed up and he was paralised. Another guy had a fusion and had to have the surgery again after it got infected. Iam still have alot of back pain and Im 90% sure I have a bad disk. You can see it on my mri.

I haven't tried an inversion table. I did go see a chiropractor a few weeks ago, but the relief only lasted a week. I have the MRI cd as well and the herniated disk is easily spotted. I don't know if I have any other options left. Paralysis is weighing heavily on my mind with this. I don't know if I just want to go get a shot each time I need it or what. Later, QD.

Take it from me Paralysis sucks big time! Try an inversion table for a few weeks before you commit to the surgery.

Rome wasnt built in a day man, even with surgery It wont be a quick fix! It took me over a year to get feeling back in my legs and Im still recovering no where near 100% Spine issues are complicated I would try the table first it take the pressure off the disk. Do you know which disk it is what leval?

I don't know which disk it is. It's not even marked on my CD. I might do some checking here, though, and see about getting the shot for now and then moving over to another form of treatment. I was in so much pain, I had to get by ambulance to the ER Sunday night. They had to get me out of bed and carry me downstairs all the while me telling them to straighten me out because they had me bunched up and the pain was unbearable. The meds I'm on now are great, but I can't work while using them. Later, QD.

If it lasted only a week, go weekly.

Seems like the least of all evils between getting a needle in your back or getting cut open for surgery.

Meaning id rather visit the chiropractor once a week as opposed to getting corisone shots or back surgery.

Who do you work for so that I can apply and make your kind of money. Chiropractors aren't free. Later, QD.

No need to keep putting a bandaid on something like that which is all a cortisone shot is. Ask your doctor about the inversion table and see if its right for your injury. If not, the surgery is the way to go. I've seen many successful disk replacement surgeries with full recovery.

Do it now before it gets worse.

By Inversion Table do you guys mean a "Hang-Up" table in the info-mercial? The one you can lay on and tilt yourself upside-down? If so, wouldnt it be worth the investment to try that everynight in an attempt to clear the back pain?

You don't buy that table and take it home. They are upwards of $200k each.

Put the surgery off for now. Four days after coming home from the hospital with 4 prescriptions, I was down to one pill one time a day (instead of four; that medicine was Oxycodone)) and then two days after that, I was completely off the meds. It's been a week and two days since I stopped taking any medicines and I have been pain free the entire time. This is definitely weird. It doesn't feel like it is better, but I don't know what to think of the zero pain now. Went to work yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks and came home sore (from not working and laying up), but not in back/leg pain.

I think I'm going to check with my employer on Monday about getting out of the truck and working in the office. I don't want to drive the truck anymore and take a chance and messing things up again if I am on the road to recovery. It'd be a pay cut, but it's not like I have really any bills so it's not that bad.

Now, maybe... It's not the professional one that hangs you upside down just like the rest of them... But you can hang upside down for less money.

Hope you are feeling better. I hurt my back jet skiing last winter. I am still in pain because of it. I went to a couple of chiropractors and paid an arm for their therapy packages. They did not do anything other than making me feel better for the moment. I should be getting better insurance soon. Let me know if you have any suggestions in regards to doctors or in general. Hopefully, I wouldn't need surgery.
