Not a sales thread by any means even more so with being so far away, but my friend is now selling this car.He said that it does not hit his wow factor ,The trouble he has owned a good few sporty cars over the years and two MK4 Supra's in that time and he does not feel the Celica has that wow factor when he drives it or even looks at it like he got from his Supra's.

I thought he would go back down the Supra route, but no he is going with a model of car i picked for him before he got this Celica and he is now looking at getting a Nissan Silvia S14A JDM spec so with its SR20DET engine in stock.

when i was in manchester, GB earlier this year, i saw this 6th gen parked on the side of the road. i was soo awed by how great and "different" it looked than the one in the states that i had to take a picture of it.
i dont know where that picture is tho..lol..it was the same color too but a 6th gen.

The front bumper and wheels make this one look much better than the ones stateside, but still a celica. Ur R33 is still gorgeous :goodjob:

The Celica is a limited GT model so has the extra bits on them, was not sure if you got them in the US and yes there are a good few on the roads here lthough not that many of the GT model.

And thanks about the R33 mate.

i thought only the GT-S models come with vvtl-i no?

I don't know the designations for other countries, but the GT here was non-VVTi. Only the GT-S was. The "action package" is the OE aero stuff that was a dealer option. The one pictured looks very much like any other Celica over here, just missing the matching front bumper to go with the side skirts and rear bumper. We never got OE wheels larger than 16" either.

Toyota Celica GT | evo Car Reviews | Car Reviews | evo (http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/61248/toyota_celica_gt.html)

The GT kind of passed us by when it was launched in the summer, which is pretty remarkable given its, er, arresting looks. It's based on the Celica T-Sport, which means it gets the top-spec VVT-i (variable valve timing with lift) 1.8-litre screamer that also does service in various Lotuses, a close-ratio six-speed 'box, front-wheel drive and Toyota's latest stability control (VSC) and traction control (TRC) systems. You also get different springs, which lower the ride height by 30mm, plus unique 17in alloys wearing asymmetric Pirelli PZeros. Oh yes, and that bodykit.

The rear aerofoil has a whiff of functionality about it, but there's really no excuse for those sill-skirts. Obviously these things are subjective, but it's unlikely to appeal to anyone who doesn't subscribe to Max Power incorporating Big'n'Bouncy. And isn't the point of the 'maxing' culture that you customise your car to express your individuality (even though, ironically, they all end up conforming to exactly the same aesthetic)? In which case a new set of skirts and spoilers would be top of your shopping list anyway...

Quick, jump inside. That's better. The GT's leather and Alcantara seats are excellent and the controls well placed (the pedals, for example, are so well matched for heeling and toeing that you're soon doing it almost subconsciously) and everywhere there's a slick precision to the way the Celica does its stuff. Actually, I'd forgotten just what a brilliant chassis this is, and in the GT it feels sharper than ever. There's a wonderfully alert, living feel to it, and as you slice into corners you can feel the suspension working, bobbling around, not in an unsettling way but in a busy, involving fashion. Any electronic interventions are discreet, messages stream back from all four corners, and you feel right there, nice and low, at the centre of it all.

The engine, as ever, is a mixed blessing. The way it whips from 6500 to the 8000rpm red line is a hoot, but below six-five there's really very little there, and unless you take it literally into the red, each upchange drops you back out of 'the zone'. Like the looks, it's definitely not for everyone, and together they deny the Celica the wider audience that its chassis deserves. Which is a shame, because in a few months' time the Celica will have ceased to be, perhaps destined to be a 'nearly' car. So if you don't mind the way it looks, grab one while you still can - just remember to tick the 'thick skin' option.

This was not really a face lift, this was wat Toyota called the Tsunami edition. It had the raised hood scoop, and different front&rear bumpers, side skirts, and spoiler. This is the most sought after model in the "celica community"

It's ok for a daily, I wouldn't think of putting any money into a celica though.

I have not seen the Tsunami edition was it production around the World or just in one country and to what numbers.

The trouble is being a GT model it has the extra features but he is a modder and now feels he cannot alter bits on the car as well as this model being a pain to tune up,so he wanted a car which look great and had these extra features but he feels it has left him with nothng to do or seek for his ride.

No turbo models on this gen only on gt4 models on previous models.

i dnt have any production numbers but they were very limited and only produce the last 2yrs (04-05), there isnt a very large market for these but there is a market. only thing is the amount of money spent he will spend and will only have minimul gains. Only real benifit is these cars respond very well to Turbochargers, be its very pricey to do so. tell him to check out Monkeywrenchracing.com these guys live for the 1ZZ & 2ZZ engines and build almost everything in house.

its weird that they call his car the GT model over there, considering in the states its a GTS which has a 180BHP 1.8L engine and the 6speed transmission. i gave the US version GT which only has a 160BHP 1.8L mated to a 5speed transmission. these cars are not the fastest but they can hold there own out on a road course...

correct, id kill for an 4th gen alltrack

My friends GT does handle well also so def a good feature about these cars, thanks for the info also on other models like the US models, its always strange when cars makers alter cars per country. One that always gets me is the 200sx which where i live is nothing like the US 200sx.

I have sent my mate to look at the site thanks, and it looks like he may keep the Celica now.
