i'm gonna swaping my b16 out of my 98 ek coupe and in to a crx as soon as i find one thats in good shape and a decient price. this is not gonna be a daily driver, its gonna be built for the track and to just play with on the weekends. i was gonna go with a gsr motor but since i bought a jdm b16 from nad auto and since have put about 300 mi on it i'm just gonna go with real good build. what i need to know is whats up with phantom grip lsd conversion kits. as u know when running road courses traction is very important. are these lsd's worth my $270... anybody have one of these or know someone that has? i thought about ITR tranny but theese are expensive and hard to find but i will get one if it comes to that. the other thing is in referance to ITB's i've never know anybody that has spent the $$ for this set up so i really know nothing about it. how do they filter the air to keep dust, dirt and everything out of your motor? how much power gains does this make? and how much would a good setup cost me? school me people!

Dont know much about the ITBs I am more of a boost head

IMO the phantom is not worth it if your going to road race all it is really is a big spring
I would get a itr tranny or instal an lsd in the tranny you have you can get one for around 500 and up check with ICBmotorsports

cost wise depends on how far you want to go I know the ITBs run a grand to 1500

I would not recommmend the phantom grip....besides, I paid less than that for a new OEM ITR LSD (helical gear) off Honda-tech. A KAAZ or Quaife is going to be a far better product then the phantom grip also but gonna be alot more than a helical...OPM Autosports in Cumming sells a clutch type LSD for a decent price.

Did this swap come with a B16 tranny? I think it's gear ratio is pretty close to a USDM ITR so I'd just find a OEM LSD. Alot of race teams will buy a brand new ITR transmission and swap out the LSD for a clutch type...I actually think i know where one is sitting now that i think about it

As for the ITB's you'll probably want an upgraded engine management setup since you would have to tune it for changes in the weather...ITB's can be a pain in the ass if you don't have the proper setup. As for filtering, each throttle body should have a velocity stack (trumpet looking thing) and a filter...both normally available from just about any motorcycle shop. Buying a pre-made kit is going to cost a shitload, i'm talking $1,500 used and $2,500+ new...then you have the problem with needing constant tuning to run its fullest. Check on Honda-tech.com and other honda forums for better deals on homemade kits or the parts to make one. ITB's are the next major thing on my list, after fixing my gear ratio's anyways :)

This is who I got my lsd from. He is in Japan and is an excellent seller. I got the lsd then had to install a ring gear and pinion from an ITR and I was rocking. I have really come to love my lsd, especially when running switchbacks really hard. Just throw it in the corner and step on the gas and it pulls you right around. As far as the itb's they are neato but after looking into them I think a good intake manifold and a larger throttle body and a good intake will do just fine w/o all of the drawbacks of the itb's. I've talked to someone who had them and just didn't find it worth it in the long run. He said that his clothes always smelled like gas from the fumes they let out. Tuning was a pain, and compared to other setups like his that just ran a traditional intake, tb, intake mani, he made 8-12whp more at best. BTW, I have heard that the phantom grip conversions can cause catastrophic failure, ie: blown up tranny. They are definately not worth the risk, especially if you plan to run at the track where you will see high temps in the tranny.

yeah what i've heard before about the phantom grip was pretty bad thats why i wants you peoples opinion. nah i don't have a b16 tranny...i'm running a gsr tranny right now and i know the ITR tranny has a better finial gear ratio and thats why i was also looking into trying to find a ITR tranny but i've checked h-motors, jazz proparts and a few other places on the internet, have'nt checked honda-tech so thats next.
