As you guys know, today was the voting for the Untie Atlanta. I am sure you have read about it and will not go into details about what it is because you should have read about it. I personally voted against this issue and the same for the sales tax increase. We are being taxed left and right and for the state to try to make us give up more money is a rip off. The toll that is on GA-400 was said to be there for 10 years. It is now 12 years and the tolls are still there. What has happened with the extra 2 years of revenue from the tolls? The HOV lanes, our taxes helped make it happen. Now I have to pay to get on it when I am on 85 north. Yes I know that traffic in Atlanta is bad, but it is not Los Angeles bad. Tomorrow I have to go downtown and pay $453.24 for solid waste, which by the way the price is more than what I payed last year. The price for everything is going up and these old fat fucks working for the government dressed in their suit and tie want more, smh, Discuss

Please. I lived in Miami and would leave work at 5PM only to get home 6:45.... and that was 10 years ago. Atlanta ain't half as bad as many people think. They are all some spoiled bitches. 1 hour commute is normal. You can NEVER expect to leave work at 5PM and be home in Alpharetta at 5:15.

Giving them more money to spend is not the cure for the reckless and irresponsible spending in government. If we never put our foot down, they'll never have a reason to budget.

If I remember correctly, at the same time you voted for t-splost, you were also voting for the same officials who you thought would best manage the money. So why is that an excuse? Georgia is run by republicans anyway, so what does that say about them?

IMO, it wasnt about the actual cost, it was about the distrust of politicians that doomed T-SPLOST. I have been in Atlanta about 10 years now and I can think of only 1 place where the politicians are so unapologeticly corrupt and that is in Chicago.

Dont act like this is a GOP or Dem thing. Both parties have spent the last decade plus trying to outdo the other side when it comes to wasting tax money. And just for shits and giggles, I voted against EVERY incumbent and didnt vote in any uncontested races. That stance could very well be repeated in the general election.
I did learn something though that I didnt even think to check on. My US House Rep was changed, presumably through redistricting, to Tom Graves. Now I have to figure out if he is worth voting for or not.
A decent article that outlines my point exactly.

Lol. The more I read about it though, some people are saying the plan didn't go far enough, which would be a good reason to vote against it. But too many people are screaming "NO NEW TAXES" and that's just stupid, and frankly, unpatriotic. Give us a good plan to make a big leap forward and I'd be happy to pay a 1% tax for it.

How is wanting to keep the money you earn unpatriotic?
Take a look at this link. You will notice that tennessee and Florida both have no income tax at all, and just about an equal sales tax rate than GA and they seem to be operating just fine. Why isnt GA looking into doing this also? Think about how much more competitive we would be when we arent bordered on 2 sides by states that have a HUGE tax advantage. A company could move from GA to TN, lower real wages by 3% and its workers would have HIGHER take home pay.

I spent a night in an Alabama jail cause I found a new road. 200 hours of community service and a 10k fine later I learned my lesson. No more dragging on fresh roads.

The answer isn't more taxes, it's how they spend it. Politicians have enough money to work with, if they will stop with pork barrel spending. It's not a specific party either to blame - both major parties do it.

Our country was set up while screaming "no taxation without representation!" This is a quote that I think a lot people feel is ringing true now. The politicians are not representing us well enough to warrant more taxes.
I agree with these guys... it is not about party lines. All are guilty of wasteful spending. Feeding more money to them is not the key.
They did not have this plan fully developed. They were still throwing plans together at the last minute to spend the money on. They did not really focus on anything that pertained to my area so it did not meet my needs.
And my commute is only about 6-7 minutes so I really can't complain.
And yes, I do not want to spend more on my big mac.

it says they SUCK. I voted no because they wasted 100 million dollars on an ALREADY EXISTING LANE and turned it into a pay to use lane for 12 miles. 100 million!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
They are years past the promise to remove the 400 tolls , and the only reason Nathan Deal did it was because they called him out on it during the TSplost campaign.
There was no clear cut plan to implement this money, and i think its unfair to have people in cobb county pay for Atlanta projects. Remember the trolley car that would cost 125 million?
Im all for expanding MARTA, i would lOVE to use marta more as i live RIGHT BY the convention center station. I use it for braves games and falcons games. But they should use money already in the budget to build and improve it. THEY DONT. They waste it.
Have you driven down west paces ferry recently? Worst road in atlanta with 10 million dollar homes on it. WHY DO THEY PAVE THE INTERSTATE AND WASTE EXISTING TAX PAYER MONEY WHEN WEST PACES FERRY and 20 other Downtown atlanta roads SUCK????
They cant even SYNCHRONIZE LIGHTS in downtown, i dont trust them to do anything right.

Why did they re-pave Peachtree and not W. Paces? W. Paces is in worse shape than Peachtree was! Lol
BTW, for a less bumpy route, continue down 41 and turn onto W. Wesley Rd. Runs parallel to W. Paces, and it's shorter.

you should vote for who you think will do the best job.
Im seriously confilcted because i do not want Obama, but I do not trust Romney. I think Obama has no real plan except more govt spending and more taxing the rich. Hes had 4 years of this and the economy is not showing any signs of getting better.
on the flip side, if we go back to Reaganomics which ROmney will push no doubt, while the economy may get better, im not sure the rest of the sectors will (spending, healthcare, etc).
Im not anti Obama for any reason other than i totally disagree with his handling of the economy.

And to make it worse, that's where the Governor's Mansion is. An embarrasment for the city that even the road in front of the Mansion is shitty.

I've heard you can sue the city for that. Know anything about it? Too late for us to benefit from it though.
