After self consideration... and after my accident... I figured I would stick to the hatchback look and go for something more sleek and easier to handle. So... i decided on this baby! I do apologize for the small smart phone picture. It's the only one I have (for now) until it becomes mine as we finalize the paperwork this week.

It's a 2012 Impreza with 167 miles on it.. Manual, black leather, fully loaded. The price was set at 25k... And i traded in a 2005 Chevy Malibu for trade in value at 9,800 talked dealer down on price to 22k. Payments aren't as high as I thought... insurance is. But nothing i can't afford :)

In that case, nice pick up.
I just don't understand why you make a public thread about a car you got but seem to hesitant to give out details like we're asking for your SS number. Typically stating the trim is the norm unless it's very obvious which it is not here since you need a microscope to see the car in the picture. Whats more is that you have to already know that and are withholding this information for no damn reason making things more complicated than they should be like a typical female. Well, carry on.

I thought only the STI came in the hatchback? SHe also said she had a trade in for 9500?
22000 is cheap, but its a 2012, maybe this particular dealer wanted to move it because of the 2013s coming out? Maybe its a dealer car with 167 miles?
MeFryRice

They started making an STi Sedan in 2011.
Vteckidd
07-11-2012, 10:04 AM
Im gonna go ahead and call bullshit because the numbers just dont add up.
A 2005 Chevy Malibu even with 80000 miles has trade in at $5500 MAX, NOT $9500.
A 2012 STI with that low of miles , books for mid 30s, i dont see how you talked a dealership down to $22,000 (10-8000 OFF) AND got almost double what your trade in was.
My bet is its just a WRX, NOT AN STI. WRX comes with a hood scoop according to KBB.com, and its listed Dealer price is $25,000.
So, in conclusion
1) Either you found a dealership that priced an STI $10,000 less than anyone else, and then gave you $3000 off that, and gave you double on your trade in
or
2) You got the model wrong (WRX, NOT AN STI)
If its really an STI, let me know what dealership ill come trade my S2000 in TODAY
MeFryRice

Based on the style of the wheel from the small picture provided, my first assumption was a base WRX.

STI logos are everywhere you look in that car. Not that you can tell from that small pic, but it would be kind of obvious if it's a real STI in person. However, if it's not... May save you some money on insurance.
Vteckidd
07-11-2012, 02:14 PM
Yeah it says STI everywhere. But she may not know the difference, ive met a lot of people that think WRX= STI
All STIs are WRXs, Not all WRXs are STIs.
For the price she paid, the mileage, theres no way its an STI IMO. If it is, let me know, i will go buy one TODAY and sell it and make $10,000
Echonova
07-11-2012, 02:14 PM
I am confused on the paperwork thing though... Every car I've ever bought from a dealership, I walked in, test drove the car, haggled the price and walked out in under two hours with said new car. Never had to wait a couple days, again just my experience and it's not like I buy new cars that often.
I hope you factored in the maternity leave and the loss of income during etc etc etc in your financial planning on making this purchase. I'm sure you did, as it's kinda hard not to know your 8 months pregnant... LOL. But I would hate to see you get strapped financially because of a car. Too many people, too often buy way more car than can afford. I'm not asking for you to explain your financial state, just make sure you are making the right decision not an impulse buy.
Now go push that baby out!

QD is correct.
What I was referring to was the fact that this car is not a deal after all. Car went down from 25 to 22k.. Add a 5k personal loan.. Back up to 27k. Add interest.. Car will cost 40 to 43k ( depending on rate )after is all set and done. But, is not my car, nor business. However, a bad financial idea.
I understand you want a nice car, however that shouldnt be the focus right now..but, get a cheaper car that will require no down payment, smaller monthly car note and stil safe for you and your child. Getting a 5k loan tells me your are not financially ready for this car... But, I may be wrong.

Yeah... Taking out a loan, to get another loan is never a good idea.
But they want $9800 + another 5k... for a total of $14800 for a down payment on a 22k car??? I'm assuming they need that much to get the payments where you need them to be. In which case, it's too much car for you. No matter how much you deserve.

Bingo.
you deserve a nice car when you can afford it. Look for something in the $15000 range theres tons of nice cars. Look at TLs, TSXs, something cheap on gas and easy on Maint.
Let me see if i follow this:
$25000 WRX, you talked em down to $22000
$22000- $9500 TRADE IN=12,500 financed before interest.
You would need a $12,500 loan, not a $5000 loan right? where does the $5000 come from?

Ok, I'm officially confused.
The way I understand it.
Car = 22k - 9800 trade in = $12,200 - subtract another 5k personal loan (for additional down payment) = $7,200 to be paid in payments.
I'm just not understanding why they would need the extra 5k to finance a "new" car.
Unless I have just misunderstood what's going on.

I think there is quite a difference in your life and the OPs. Later, QD.True enough, but I can understand wanting a good, safe, reliable car to put the kid in. Sometimes it's worth paying a little more for the piece of mind knowing it's a safe car, won't break down (and if it does it's under warranty), especially during the first years of having a kid. More so if you're doing it on your own. Trick is the balance between what you want and what you can afford. When my wife and kids got t-boned by damn near the largest SUV ever made, I bought my current minivan a week later. I wanted to surround them them as many airbags, as much sheet metal, and the best 5 star crash rated new car I could afford.
Key word is afford. I paid it off in 3 years.

If she makes $10 or $100,000 a day, week, month, year and she decides to buy the car, let her make that decision. Its a Car Pics Section not a debating whether you can afford a car section. I didnt say anything about neglecting a baby....
i devote my life to making sure my kid/family has everything it needs. I get on here and talk/enjoy clean cars/something other than TV while im on the road and living out of motels to have whatever my family wants. And those who have kids know how expensive they get between 2-18. Diapers to college, it never stops.
My little 21 month old just got out of diapers... And I almost started crying.. Diapers is as cheap as it gets... :( i can buy diapers all day long vs whats coming :(

mines a few months older and thinks theres a monster in the toilet or something so poop wont happen, just poop. I love her to death but that shits annoying as hell. I basically just throw a 20 dollar bill away every 3 weeks. cheap but annoying at this point. And like you said, whats next is SCARY..........

i wasnt talking to you directly, more over to the people saying she shouldnt buy a new car and take care of her kid. While i suspect this is probably a dumb decision on her part (mainly because she ALWAYS makes dumb decisions) , bottom line is we dont know what her finances are like.
Get in a wreck-> post thread about how mad she is her car is totalled despite being pregnant and refusing an ambulance. guess posting on IA is more important
Gets pregnant-> Makes thread on IA about how she hates drama and she hopes her ex boyfriend dies , therefore inciting drama
Honestly when i heard she and Autumn were pregnant i cant say i wasnt surprised lol

In the past, Bri has not been one to shy away from attention. If that has changed, great. She's had a hard time, been dealt a raw deal losing both parents so young...
I get that.
But I'm sorry, that doesn't entitle you to anything. You "deserve" nothing more or less than the next person. Trying to fill the hole in your heart with a nice "things" never ends well. Problems are like interest, they perform at their best when they are compounded.
In the end, no one here wants to see her making bad financial decisions and having even more problems down the road. I wish her the best, kids are unbelievably freaking expensive, and if she can afford this car without strapping her bank account then Godspeed... Hope she gets it and enjoys it. But as the old saying goes, a wise man learns from his mistakes, a wiser man learns from others mistakes. We are just giving advise from an older "been there, done that" POV. If she doesn't want to hear the opinions of others (other than fanboi adulation), well then there was no point to making the thread.

Congrats on the new car welcome to the Subaru family. Regardless of the deal, etc, be happy with it and hopefully the choice is and will be justified. Our cars are great, but they can also be a great headache. Don't take the comments in this thread too harshly, I agree with Julio it is just some good old conversation in which not all will be easy going and non confrontational. Bottom line, do what you want no matter what but also keep an open mind for what others who may have been down the road that your trekking.

I for one am glad that she is getting the car. I felt a small amount of guilt and held back my opinion every time she posted pictures of that stupid suzuki. Now when she post pictures of this car (assuming she gets it) I can truly say that its a great looking car and that I like it. Furthermore i wouldn't want any child of mine riding around in a suzuki.

Awww cute.
I decided to just keep my dads car. Memories and something of him that I can cherish. I couldn't see getting rid of something that belonged to my dad, however I was very excited to get it. I just couldn't live with that guilt. But thanks for caring ;)

But I seriously doubt that she's made her last post on this site. Later, QD.

Whatever Mike. You have no room to talk. You've been putting your two cents in my life for over 4 years. Kinda gets old after a while. I didn't know of any good names and finally chose one and dropped the subject. Go get your fucking teeth fixed or something. Or better yet, jump off a cliff.
And that is the real reason. I have a lot of money saved up and I figured it would be selfish of me to buy a new car when I already had a reliable one. Maybe a little later down the road.

You know I had this big long response I was gonna type out about how you're still the sane attention deprived teenager to were 4 years ago, how you get pissed off when your "look at me" threads backfire due to your own stupidity and horrible life choices. Then I realized, I really don't care. Sounds like you have enough problems you can't take care of.
Nothing I say will change your attitude as you'll just blame some other person or situation for your problems.
Good luck in motherhood

She has an excuse to be acting a fool on here, I'd be a mess if I lost both my parents too....that has to be rough......I'd probably post dumb shit too.....idk......either way bri, you need to stop posting for a while until you get your head on straight. Because not to be mean, but your posts are pretty pointless and stupid lately. I mean all that in the nicest way possible.

No offense to her but that's her excuse always. She's mad stupid decisions and attention whore posts for 4-5 years, then gets knocked up, makes name my baby threads, vents about her ex who is on here , then we are supposed to just kiss her ass because why? Because she lost her parents????
The shit she posts has nothing to do with her "losses" . I don't coddle her. Don't post on a public forum if you don't like criticism
