I am not trying to be an internet toughguy at all. Trust me, my temper gets the best of me at times and I am a big scary guy. But this is Georgia, it is 2012, and we have some pretty generous laws in regards to self defense in this state. He is terribly lucky that that individual, or bystanders were not carrying and/or outgoing. In GA, 3rd party is pretty much exempt for "any reasonable threat".

I am just pointing this out, as this situation could very easily have escalated quickly had that punch connected and the right person been watching. Most car guys that I know are GFL holders and pretty well versed on their rights.

In this video, if the kiddo turned and shot ZOsick, it would have clearly been self defense. He wouldn't even been arrested with that video proof. Being threatened while alone, or with hundred thousand people there, it's no different. Being threatened by one person, or a group of people is no different, threat is a threat. Technically, if he spun around and shot ZOSICK immediately (without hesitation), any decent lawyer should be able to get him off IF he was even ever charged.
If he took time to deliberately pull a weapon out and had reasonable distance between them, he would probably be charged. Time and distance make all the difference in a case like this, as GA laws are deliberately left vague.

I am old, do not cause trouble, and carry multiple weapons at all times. I also shoot competitively (handguns and rifles). I am not asking anyone to agree with me at all. But, I am perfectly capable of shooting just the target that I want, without harming others. I am well aware of the laws, more than most. To me, a punch to the back of the head falls under "reasonable threat" and gets a lead reward. I have good attorneys, that's how I roll. Where I live, the cops will give you a pat on the back for making their job easier. If I am in the wrong, then I am prepared to deal with it. :goodjob:

I was going to be done with this thread, but your post is somewhat true and false, but I'll clarify what I meant with my defense.

If the kid pulled the gun while ZOSick charged at him, he would get off easy, with a shittiest public defender in town to be exact. (you kinda implied this in your post, but this is where I'm coming from too)

Now if the kid shot ZOSick after the exchange, after the threat has been done and finished with, then yes, the kiddo would easily get years behind bars. That's why for people who carry, it's a good thing to learn to quick draw.

I live in downtown, right by the Atlanta Union Mission. Its not a crime ridden area at all, but theres definetly some homeless people that have been threatening toward me. I had a bum one time try to rush me when i was walking my dog outside, i stepped back and moved out of the way, he kept walking at me and i crossed the street and yelled for him to stay back. I had a glock .40 on me the entire time, i could have drawn shot and killed his ass no problem, no witnesses.

I just dont think I carry a gun for that reason. That and a 40 year old drunk homeless guy doesnt scare me.

I have had my best friend get shot right in front of me, who got shot trying to help a situation. Now he is paralyzed from waist down. A lady was being robbed and we tried to help her, to our lack of knowledge, the robber had already shot her husband and still had the gun on him. Thankfully that day I didn't get shot right there with my buddy. The robber escaped and was later caught. But that day would have def. went different if either I or my buddy were carrying.

He would have got the same thing here.. I know we have a self-defense law now, but it is very unclear to me.. The way I read it you would never have time to think about what you were doing.. I mean having a gun in a car is different then it being on your person, from my understanding the person must cause harm to you.. It can't just be a person making a threat, they ether need to have a weapon or attacking you.. For the time it takes to react I would think a person could be dead..

Same thing happened here about 2yrs ago. The bar was closing and everyone was making their way to their vehicles. Guy A approached Guy B and was instigating a fight with him (no reason other than Guy A was drunk). Guy B kept walking away and trying to avoid and physical confrontation. Guy A attacked him so Guy B swung back with a hay-maker knocking him out cold. Guy A's head bounced off of the pavement and he went into a coma and died. Guy B went to prison for defending himself.

With that said, if I'm carrying and someone decides to attack me, it's fucking done right there. I've got a long life to live, and I'm not playing around anymore. You guys can call the pussy card all you want, but you never know if you're gonna get hit, stumble, and smack your head on a curb/car/etc and it be over with right there.
