My fastest pass that day was 12.8, event win was a 12.92 @ 107.. and yes same car 3 motors over about 5-6yrs.. Good job!!

1-2 years ago Midnight popped up on here and was talking about their shop. Bobby started cheerleading for them which hes totally allowed to do no big deal. Lol. Import showdown was fun but didn't have that many cars competing . The allmotor street class which the k-eg ran in only had 3 cars in the class. After one qualifying pass the third car disappeared .... Leaving only the k-eg and my stock s2000... Was not really any racing going on. The eg was clearly faster than mine but hey my car is bone stock and is heavy as fuck . I believe the best time the eg had was a 13.4 , I was running a consistant 14.3.

Please go back and find ANY THREAD EVER when i worked for Mainstream where i claimed i was the lead or head mechanic. When i came to Mainstream i didnt even know James, he was working at Jiffy Lube. The mechanics we had on staff where Charles (OWNER) and a part time High school kid named ERIC (had a blue EP3).

I was working as an assistant manager at NOPI SMYRNA and I was not happy with the way they were treating me. I had started a side business called SRZ RACING that was me, JohnZM, Jenson, OG people you wouldnt know of. I procured business and was renting space from Mainstream Performance to work on cars on the side. I wasnt the main person doing the work, that was Jenson or John but i did my fair share when i could (i was working full time).

After a few months, Charles and I had a conversation about me working for him. I quit NOPI and went to Mainstream to be the marketing,parts sales, advertising, customer service person, aka Front Office manager. That was my role from DAY 1 and it never changed. There were times when i would help out and work on cars, on my own. Days charles was gone, or weeks we were slammed, but i was NEVER a mechanic by trade. It wasnt what i was good at. I would say the 3 years i worked at Mainstream, i did 5% of the mechanical work, and thats probably still high. Charles and Eric(later James) were the ones that did the bullk of the work, because that was THEIR ROLE and what they were good at.

I was never hired to be a mechanic, and i never ever represented that i was a mechanic. youre free to prove me wrong.

you realize that is a post from like 2005 right? BMC ? i dont even know what that is. I posted that article at a time when no one knew anything about NA and there was no one doing the things that myself, Black R, Johnzm, etc were doing in Atlanta. So i made a quick sticky in my spare time to teach some basics on NA and how to build a proper setup.

It was all personal knowledge i had learned from other industry experts, charles, james, myself, etc. It was meant to help inform other people, because i realized when i was coming up there was ZERO INFO out there about what to do. back in the day, we had to buy parts and just see what happened. there wasnt the info that was out there today. I think that post is pretty well informed, and most people agree according to the posts. I could probably add another 20 pages to it, but it was never meant to be an all encompassing post, it was just a starting point. People can do their own research from there.

and as far as this NOT WORKING ON CARS bullshit, you werent there the nights i stayed till 3am working on my CRX prepping it for the 2.0l when i was there all by myself, you werent there the nights i stayed late changing my GFs brakes out on her ITR so she could track in the next day, you werent there the nights i stayed trouble shooting my CRX for a bad Walbro fuel pump and had to take the gas tank out 3 times, or the time i swapped my transmission 12 times to figure out why the clutch wouldnt disengage (that was shit Competition Clutch didnt even know, turbo Dave and Brian Harbison can vouch as they timed me to see how fast i could swap the clutch out, they said i couldnt do it in 30 minutes, i did it in 28.), you werent there the nights i stayed to assemble my 2J motor doing the valvesprings , or the nights i helped Matt on his SOHC CRX or his EG, or the sundays i came into work to swap Jacob Holdaways transmission out on his EG because he was broke and didnt have any money to fix it(so i gave him a spare). You werent there the nights Chunky and i stayed overnight testing camshafts on his car for Skunk2 and IPS, documenting and doing the tests. You werent there the times i gave myself a black eye swapping out the exhaust on an integra i was selling, or the time I swapped an oil pan on an h22 accord because we couldnt figure out why VTEC wouldnt work and i figured out it was the huge dent in the oil pan.

you werent there for countless times i did work on cars, with no one around, or with friends, because i dont go online publishing everything i do to make people like me. I did it for friends, or for customers, or GFs. Or because i had to.

yeah, even by todays standards they can last 20-30k miles driven pretty hard. Depends what RPM you are turning. My 2.0l motor i daily drove, i had probably 10-12K on it when i sold it, and it still ran fine. I had over 300 dyno pulls on my 2.0l LOL we tried lots of things and parts on it

Bearing wear is what tends to get pretty accelerated in those types of motors. That and Detonation is that much prevalent.

The dip can be from anything, from bad tuning , the retarded header construction, cams not degreed in correctly, incorrect VTEC setting, i cant give you a definite answer without seeing the tuning map, JACKASS.

it looked like it flattened out pretty bad at the end, but for a 240+whp motor, it should make power that far. Peak power is a function of VE and stroke, but i dont know if you know that or not. Should i explain it to you?

Mine made power to 9400, and i had a stock cleaned up ITR head.

Man the more details i find out the more impressed i am with Dons motor he built me. It was an easy build with a $140 intake manifold and a barely ported head

I sold all my parts to a buddy, because he wanted to attempt a 240-250hp Motor.. SO, all parts where sent out, came back and I put everything together in the car!! Then its towed to morris and tuned!! Little did I know it would make 250 in this heat but it did so I posted it for Mike to see...

Mike said no one in ga has every made 250hp, well james did not care to prove him wrong, but I knew it could be done, so I bought everything needed, later I changed my mind and went with a K20z1 swap.. I sold all my parts to a buddy, because he wanted to attempt a 240-250hp Motor.. SO, all parts where sent out, came back and I put everything together in the car!! Then its towed to morris and tuned!! Little did I know it would make 250 in this heat but it did so I posted it for Mike to see...

Serious question for you. You always said that a good built B was better, so why did you change to a K? I really don't know, so I am asking.

It took him that much time to find someone to spend the money to do it. He never could afford to do it on his own, so he waited until he could find someone to pawn off his old parts to.

The K was a no brainier, took me 4 years to agree with other.. Baseline all stock K can make 230hp with I/H and kpro.. Drop-in cams will net another 10, or jump to the 2.4 block and see 250+... Rocket science at it's best I guess!!

I have not dyno'ed this K, but the fastest mph was 108.. Food for thought, Built B series vs Stock K series!!

Which is true, considering it cost 5k plus to do the stock K swap.. And that built B series has 4-5k in it with the tranny..

But with the deals I had lined up it was to be no out of pocket cost to do my swap, I sold all of my parts to fund the K swap..
