but upon closer investigation, it had some really annoying blemishes that i could no longer stand to look at.

So now im replacing some shitty parts
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/Virtutis/bikecrap.jpg

and tearin this shit apart

who knows..... maybe one day this thing will resemble a motorcycle again. I am extremely slow combined with being extremely lazy, might take me a minute to post a finished product.

i wouldnt mind finding a rough bike like this, learning to ride, then learning to break it down and reassemble it again

u are correct. my gsxr i got now was laid down. sapposably he had bought it for his wife to learn how to drive a bike...but to me i think it was his stunt bike. fork seals are blown, headbearing clicks, streetfighter swap, etc....

i dont think id ever buy a bike that had anything "street fighter" done to it. Those are just as abused as drift cars.

well he says he did the swap since the bike was laid down instead of buying new fairings.

small update, set a couple of the pieces i've almost finished outside to let them cure in the sun. Still need to apply the factory label decals and some small things like that. Havnt started sanding the side fairings yet, got the old decals and glue cleaned off of them last night and got tired. Havnt started on the gas tank either.... will be workin on that today.

It's so fucking humid outside that my camera gets wet like 3 seconds after i walk out the door....... will take better pictures when it heats up and drys out a little.

I know i initially said blue.... but figured the red/black would be easier to pull off. did the "raccoon mask" thing on the nose.

Here's what i got as of today... hope to be putting the bike back together and riding by July 4th

fairings done, other than graphics and decals. Gotta figure out what i'm gonna do with the tank and then put it back together. Got a short ride in before the rain and gonna spend the rest of the day kicked back in the recliner.

truer words have never been spoken, it doesnt matter what kind of paint or what method you use to apply it.... prep is everything.... and environment. Heat and humidity can fuck a paint job. I'm 80% satisfied with how this bike turned out. I've got it complete other than the gas tank, im waiting for repsol stuff to come in before putting gas tank on and then i'll post up the finished product. I'm happy with how the design turned out, but unhappy with the execution of the paint work. I've learned from my mistakes and will do better next time. Part of it was doing it during riding season and rushing to get back on the road.
