Westbrook trades assists for rebounds. I clearly think westbrook isn't as great as cp3, but I don't think he's far behind either.
He has positives cp3 will never have, and vice versa

Lol, come on now vteckidd. How important is 1.1 rebound a game? Cp3 is the 11th ranked pg in the league in rebounds, westbrook is 3rd with only one more rebound a game. Idk about you, but i think i would rather have 4 more assists and one more steal a game from my PG. And also westbrook averages a full TO a game more. But ok i'll drop it now, lol..... thanks about the podcast. im about to watch it now, had to get my nap on first.
btw CP3 finished 2nd in mvp voting in 2007 i think it was. behind kobe bryant, im sure CP3 isn't going anywhere!
Vteckidd
06-06-2012, 08:42 PM
it actually translates into alot, but i agree with you CP3 is a better PG, assists =points right? So averaging 4 more assists =8 points (4x2). Rebounds dont = points necessarily.
But Westbrook averages more points a game, on more shot attempts.
Im not arguing with you lol im just saying they both have a ton of positive attributes. If WB starts upping his assists because he can, he will be dangerous. He takes far too many shot attemots

agreed!!!! i think cp3 might leave the clippers after next season. he wont sign a contract, and they just signed negro. lol .... i also know he was very disappointed when billups got hurt.... changed his role a lot....

yeah they would have been alot more deadly with Billups IMO I really like Mo Williams, he reminds me of Jason Terry.
Im interested to see their offseason moves.

i love mo as well.... but i thought del negro fucked up the lineup. he shouldve started nick young for caron butler right from the start..... i doubt that trade would happen..... but who knows.....

Series isn't over. when its over we can say why "they dont have it".... just my opinion....
people have to remember all these playoff games have been without bosh..... and last night as well.... 12 minutes, lol come on.....
The 2 games to 2 points is not a smart move.
1. Thunder 77..... clippers 92
westbrook had 9 points in 32 minutes.....shot 25% from the field (4/16)... 3 assists
chris paul .had 12 points in 36 minutes...shot 42% from the field (5/12).... 10 assists
If you have 9 points in 32 minutes, you probably should have more then 3 assists..... dont you think?
2. Thunder 98..... clippers 100
westbrook had 20 points in 37 minutes.... shot 21% from the field (3/14).... 1/5 3pt shots.... 7 assists
chris paul had 31 points in 37 minutes..... shot 55% from the field (11/20)... 2/4 3pt shots.... 4 assists
Westbrook had 11 LESS points and shot 34% worse then paul. and finally had 3 more assists. (with the leading scorer in the nba on his team)
3. Thunder 114 ..... clippers 91
Westbrook had 19 points in 35 minutes..... shot 40% from the field (8/20)... 1/4 3pt shots ..... 4 assists
chris paul had 13 points in 32 minutes...... shot 25% from the field (3/12) ... 2/7 3pt shots...... 10 assists
Westbrook only had 6 more points and took 8 more shots from the field? and had 6 less turnovers.... horrible shooting game from paul, BUT 10 assists will help.
4. Thunder 100 .... clippers 112
Westbrook had 31 points in 38 minutes .... shot 50% from the field (13/26) .... 0/3 3pt shots.... 4 assists
Chris paul had 26 points in 37 minutes .... shot 75% from the field (12/16) .... 2/3 3 pt shots.... 14 assists
Westbrook shot 10 more shots and make 1 more shot then paul.... missed all 3 of his 3 point shots, while cp3 make 67% of his 3 point shots. also managing to drop 10 MORE assists the westbrook and winning the game with a team not having the best scorer in the nba and the 6th man of the year!!! You really would take westbrook over paul?
Westbrook has the leading scorer in the NBA and he let the clippers go 3/4 against them.
Westbrook averages 3.8 more points a game, BUT takes 4.4 more shots a game then Paul.
Westbrook shoots worse from the field, 3 point, AND free throw line.
Westbrook averages 5.5 assists with the best scorer in the nba right next to him. CP3 averages 9.1 with trash on his team.
Westbrook averages 3.6 turnovers, compared to pauls 2.1 ...... remember paul also has the ball in his hands more, because he has no domincant scorer.
Westbrook averages 1.7 steals to chris paul's 2.5.....
Westbrook is a better rebounder.... 1 more a game..... thats a lot of other stats to give up for my PG getting one more rebound....
Westbrook's efficiency is lower then pauls.... 20.5 to 24.5
Summary: Thats A HUGE difference from the #1 ranked PG to the #2 ranked...CP3=#1 and Westbrook ranked #2... bring up the rankings from the other PG's people are bringing up in this thread.
-12 with Bosh on the floor, +6 with Haslem on the floor.
You cant judge players by stats alone. Chris Paul is a stat machine on an insignificant team, Westbrook shares stats with Kevin Durant. You make it seem like having Durant on your team should improve your assist numbers? Every time Durant gets the ball in iso, does his own thing and scores... thats an assist opportunity that Westbrook doesnt get. Blake Griffin does WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY more for your assist numbers than Durant, the same way any offensive big man does.
Funny how you're such a stat junky when something is in Chris Paul's favor, but you laughed at Kevin Love being mentioned in MVP talks......because Kevin Love's stats shit all over Chris Paul.

“Clutchness”:
No one is better late in a game than CP3. Don’t believe me? Paul is 3rd in the NBA with 369 points in the 4th quarter this season, which is a staggering 31% of his overall points. Everyone in the building knows that CP3 is going to have the ball at the end of the game, YET he is still shooting 50.4% from the field in the 4th quarter.
But let’s dig deeper…In the final five minutes of a game with the Clips ahead or behind by 5 points or less, CP3 trumps Durant and Kobe Bryant (and the rest of the NBA):
Playoffs are MVP Audition for CP3 : Court Crusades (http://www.rantsports.com/courtcrusades/2012/04/27/playoffs-are-mvp-audition-for-cp3/#s20)

you act like a kid, i call you a kid.
Parker, Rondo, Westbrook, Deron, Rose, Paul......... in no specific order...... can all make an argument for being the best pg in the nba. Youre offended by people thinking anyone is in the same league as Paul....................... on that list 2 are champions, 1 is a finals MVP, one is an MVP........ the other is about to play in the finals....

funny how you have so much confidence in the media selecting the best players.... yet you're in denial about Tebow being the only player in the history of football to win 2 maxwell awards............................. Obviously you don't know how to read. We've already took westbrook off this list of best PG in the nba.... I will refresh your memory, this is westbrook against CP3 HEAD 2 HEAD this season. Just to show you what a dominating pg can do against someone not of their skill level. The only people you could REMOTELY argue as being a better POINT GUARD, not player, is deron williams OR parker, but if you want me to show you them head 2 head against cp3 i will.... and i would really advise against saying deron williams, he averages 4 turnovers a game... definitely not something to brag about(from my pg).... here is westbrook again. look and read closely...
1. Thunder 77..... clippers 92
westbrook had 9 points in 32 minutes.....shot 25% from the field (4/16)... 3 assists.... 5 TURNOVERS
chris paul .had 12 points in 36 minutes...shot 42% from the field (5/12).... 10 assists.... 2 TURNOVERS
If you have 9 points in 32 minutes, you probably should have more then 3 assists..... dont you think?
2. Thunder 98..... clippers 100
westbrook had 20 points in 37 minutes.... shot 21% from the field (3/14).... 1/5 3pt shots.... 7 assists.... 4 TURNOVERS
chris paul had 31 points in 37 minutes..... shot 55% from the field (11/20)... 2/4 3pt shots.... 4 assists.... 1 TURNOVER
4 assists.... 4 TURNOVERS
chris paul had 13 points in 32 minutes...... shot 25% from the field (3/12) ... 2/7 3pt shots...... 10 assists.... 3 TURNOVERS
Westbrook only had 6 more points and took 8 more shots from the field? and had 6 less assists.... horrible shooting game from paul, BUT 10 assists will help.
4. Thunder 100 .... clippers 112
Westbrook had 31 points in 38 minutes .... shot 50% from the field (13/26) .... 0/3 3pt shots.... 4 assists.... 6 TURNOVERS
Chris paul had 26 points in 37 minutes .... shot 75% from the field (12/16) .... 2/3 3 pt shots.... 14 assists.... 2 TURNOVERS
HEAD TO HEAD..... westbrook averaged 5 turnovers a game against paul..... paul averaged 2 turnovers a game. Imagine durant with paul as his PG.

1 TURNOVER
2 TURNOVERS

Im also skinny but still played sf in high school. The ability to get position over the opposing player does not take size. I've bodied 6'10 ppl and im only 6'2 180. Kobe would murk Durant. Durant is good but not as good as kobe.. give Durant a few years... then maybe.

Dude, DURANT IS TOO SMALL(WEIGHT) TO POST UP LIKE A POWER FORWARD. GO look at the PF in the league, he would get muscled and man handled. He is a 6'10'' shooting guard , which is what makes him so good. He can drive and elevate over everyone, he shoots the ball like KG from the top peak of his jump and over his head making him impossible to block, he does have some back down moves against other guards/SF in the league, but he uses his quickness to get around anyone bigger than him.
Im 6' 200lbs and i play post all the time against bigger guys, but i use my footwork more than i use my size. But im also not 1/1000th as fast as Durant is.
How can you say NOT as good as kobe after he BEAT THE LAKERS AND WON THE SCORING TITLE OVER THE BLACK MAMBA?
Durant is better than Kobe is RIGHT NOW without a doubt. Durant was second in MVP Votes. Where was Kobe?

its a waste of time talking to your stupid fucking ass. You see what you want to see. Read what you want to read. You're objective when you want to be. You use stats when theyre in your favor and ignore them when theyre not. The same argument that you use for Chris Paul, you argue against for other players.
With Chris Paul you basically say " These are the stats, if you cant see them then you dont watch the game"
With other players you say "The stats arent real because i can see thru the stats to what is really happening, if you cant see behind the stats then you dont watch the game"
Chris Paul hasnt done shit, hasnt won shit.
He may be the best pg in the NBA.... he may be....................... but when the other PGs in the conversation are all fucking champions and MVPs and one guy hasnt done a mother fucking thing then my tie breaker goes to the people holding the hardware.

Position Player, Team (First Team Votes) Points
Forward LeBron James, Miami (118) 596
Forward Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City (117) 591
Center Dwight Howard, Orlando (75) 476
Guard Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers (104) 568
Guard Chris Paul, L.A. Clippers (74) 484
I dont agree with Howard being first team, i think i would have taken Bynum considering Howards injuries. But, i understand why.

Exactly. I'm not saying cp3 is the best in the nba. But he is the most impactful, dominating pg in the nba. With the ball in his hands, i feel better then anybody else from the pg slot. And with the pg position having the ball the majority of the game, thats a BIG deal.
BTW when they do these votes too, they factor what one position player did against the other player in the same position. example... what did bynum do against dwight and soo on..... but i think they gave him the nudge because his defense is much better then bynum, and bynum is lazy as hell a lot on defense.

It depends on what stats you hold most valuable. General consensus is that assists are what a PG is primarily judged on. Is passing to someone who scores more valuable than someone who just scores? I can name PGs who "just score" better than Chris Paul. Derrick Rose is an MVP, not 3rd in votes.... but an actual MVP. Those who "eat sleep breath and shit" basketball thought Derrick Rose was the best player in the NBA...... making him the best PG in the NBA by default.................
His assist numbers are the poorest of anyone mentioned in the PG debate..... But he is a better scorer, just like Westbrook and Deron. Tony Parker could be..... but his season stats are skewed by a lack of needing to score. Not to mention that Westbrook shares the ball with the league's scoring champion. If Westbrook played for the Hornets or Clippers he may score 40 a game.

The Clippers were held to 11 points in the fourth quarter as they shot 4 of 23 from the field. Los Angeles also missed its last 19 3-point attempts.
If he had hall of fame players to pass to, im sure they wouldve had more then 11 points in the fourth. Or better yet, the nba leading scorer next to him. That might help some. BTW are you now saying jack is better then paul as well?

so you can make an excuse for only scoring 11 points in a quarter??? If Chris Paul is the god of all closers, how come he was held scoreless in the 4th quarter? No Jarret Jack is not better than Chris Paul..... but he out played him on that day, held him to zero points in the 4th quarter, matched his assists... matched his steals.... out scored him. So maybe Chris Paul isnt this infallible god of basketball and MAYBE................. JUST MAYBE................... we are worthy of at least comparing other players to him. At the end of the day the numbers dont lie, this is JDM's point and its the truth basketball is a team sport. Lebron haters and Kobe fans still did not answer the ? if Lebron was on the Lakers instead of Kobe would they still be in the playoffs. If you cannot make your teamates look better than they are your just a stat player this is Kobe problem the dude is a chuck wagonist what was wrong with his team this year.
Jordan made everybody on his team look good Hodges, Paxton, Kerr, Armstrong and the list goes on, Lebron was on a team who the second best player was Mo Williams and yall wanted him to stay. Remember he is still a young man he did make a bad DECISION but he took the beating like a man he did not snitch like a bitch (Kobe) Shaq screw hoes too, and he did tell everybody he dont care about the kids making his sneakers in china for $0.02 and selling them here for a $150.00.

last time i checked Tony Parker and crew bent Chris Paul over their knee 4 games in a row. In game 4, the only game the clippers were mildly competitive, Chris Paul blew their chance at winning when he turned the ball over and then followed up by missing a short shot. You only can judge what you see. TNT, ESPN, ABC, NBA TV if you are lucky.... i think you fail to realize how many games a year you miss by having the regular channels. But anyway, I've shown you what you need to see, you ignored it so theres nothing really to discuss anymore about this topic.
You're right again. You need to watch 2460 games a year to have an opinion on basketball.

Jdm94Coupe: this is a (fun) shot at you, man, lolol.
Statistically, since you're all about stats, the Thunder outweighs the Heat in 4 out of 6 main categories. Points per game, rebounds per game, field goal percentage and free throw percentage is all handled by the Thunder. The Heat has the edge in assist per game and three point percentage, although in that last category, they only have a .001% edge, lolol.
Doesn't look like this "dream team" may only be a dream.

Defense doesn't matter for anything right? Durant and Westbrook will get theirs. Lebron and Wade will get theirs. The keys for either team IMO, is harden and bosh..... Look at what happened April 4th in miami..... Wade can LOCK down harden, which btw a lot of close games okc plays, harden finishes them. Dont be shocked to see miami walk in okc and shut up all this noise. Just like ppl were talking about them losing to indiana(w/out bosh).... just like saying they were losing to boston(w/out bosh)..... they hear this and feel the disappointment from last year. All im saying is the series will not be okc walking over miami as everybody suspects. No need to scream at me, i like both teams so it doesnt matter to me.
In the playoffs this year.... miami allows 88ppg.... okc gives up 96 ppg....
In the playoffs this year.... miami is #2 in opponent fg % allowed....... okc is #8 in the nba in fg% allowed....
In the playoffs this year.... miami is averaging more rebounds a game then okc.....

Ok, so when we're talking Chris Paul, regular season stats matter. Since ofcourse, Chris Paul doesnt have much experience in the playoffs or meaningful games since he's spent the majority of his career being the primary option for an insignificant team.
But now that we're talking about something other than Chris Paul, all of a sudden playoff stats carry more weight than the regular season.
OKC's playoff stats couldnt have anything to do with having to play the Mavericks, Lakers and Spurs could it? or that Miami had a gravy train run to the finals that they still struggled with?
You see what you want to see and that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. For as much as you keep down talking me, the main thing we disagree on is that your opinion is an opinion. For some reason, you feel as if someone anointed you as the deciding say in basketball. What you think is not a fact. It's an opinion.
My opinion is this......
PG rising to the occasion in the playoffs, leading his team to the finals, winning the championship and being finals mvp > pg with the best regular season stats.

By your logic, BJ Symons is the greatest college QB in the history of football. Since stats are the only thing that matters...... not the significance of opponents, the game or the setting.... just stats. We cant take into account when and where the stats took place or how meaningful the game was... stats are stats and they tell everything.
Dear NFL, the greatest QB ever is playing for the Tampa Bay Storm arena football team.
oh.. and Xavier Omon was a better running back than Barry Sanders. Sure OKST's big 12 schedule was probably a little harder than Northwest Missouri State, but hey.... stats are stats.

To add to this, dude:
Remember, Miami played New York (15th in scoring) and Indiana (8th) to start the series. Not exactly the cream of the crop. Oklahoma City, on the other hand had to go through Dallas (6th), the Lakers (5th) and the Spurs (2nd) in the same category. Miami barely exceeds the Thunder in rebounds and points allowed percentage. It's not like Miami, on paper, really outshines OKC at all.
Also remember, The Thunder had to go through the past 13 year's worth of NBA finalists to get here. Miami just three of the teams from the past 13 years. The Thunder played Dallas (champions last year out of 2 appearances), the Lakers (champions 5 times out of 7 appearances) and the Spurs (4 champions out of 4 appearances). They obviously had the tougher road to hoe, man. Later, QD.

You can't really base your facts on what team plays what team and how they did versus the other team. High ranked teams can still be beaten. Simple....
Kc will not be able to match up with the heat... Durant can't lock down labron.... even if he did they have wade and Bosch. The bench is what is going to make the difference for the teams. It will be a good series but Miami will end up pulling off the win.

in one post you use statistics one way, then in another you use them the opposite way.
On paper in the playoffs, STATISTICALLY the Miami Heat have had a more impressive trip to the finals. The stats cant show what the human eye can see and our brains can understand.......... OKC went thru an absolute gauntlet of championship caliber teams to make it to the finals.
If player A scores 19 points and has 9 assists vs the best team in the NBA, on the road in the NBA finals.
Player B scores 32 points and 14 assists vs the Wizards in the 3rd game of the season.

Your opinions are not facts. The only reason i give other examples are to make a point about how you use statistics in your argument. You take the same exact stat and use it in opposite ways.
"Chris Paul is the NBA 1st team PG" < Fact.
"Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA" < Opinion.
Voting is not an infallible process of determining who is better, regardless of who cast the votes or how experienced they are. Even if Micheal Jordan thinks Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA, that is still just Jordan's opinion.
Las Vegas is filled with "experts who cover sports on a professional level (not you and me)" they vote and determine who is the better team in every contest that gets played every single year. I suppose they have a 100% ratio of deciding outcomes right?
Anything that involves votes, polls, or any method of letting people not involved in the contest decide who is better.... is not a fact.
Fact- Chris Paul is 10-17 in the playoffs with most of his losses being blowouts by Tony Parker himself.
Fact- Tony Parker avgs 1 less ppg than Paul and plays nearly 5 minutes less a game. Parker's point per minute avgs are higher.
Paul vs Parker in head to head in games that actually mattered this season.
Game 1 - Paul 10 assists, 5 turnovers, 6 points Loss.
Game 2 - Paul 5 assists, 8 turnovers, 10 points Loss.
Game 3 - Paul 11 assists, 3 turnovers, 12 points Loss.
Game 4 - Paul 11 assists, 2 turnovers, 23 points. Finally a good game from God's anointed PG..... but he turned the ball over in the potentially game winning situation. Loss.
Game 1 - Parker 11 assists, 4 turnovers, 7 points. Win.
Game 2 - Parker 5 assists, 3 turnovers, 22 points. Win.
Game 3 - Parker 10 assists, 3 turnovers, 23 points. Win.
Game 4 - Parker 5 assists, 6 turnovers, 17 points. Win.
Another thing about Parker, he plays up to his competition............ which Chris Paul and the Clippers offer very little of.
Chris Paul's statistics decrease in the playoffs from his season totals. Tony Parker's season stats increase in the playoffs.
Chris Paul's PPG went from 19.8 during the season to 17.6 in the playoffs and 12.5 in head to head meetings with Tony Parker.
Tony Parker's PPG went from 18.3 during the season to 20.1 in the playoffs, 22.2 vs their toughest competitor OKC and 24.5 in his last trip to the NBA Finals.
These statistics support my OPINION that GREAT players rise to the occasion during the real season. Tony Parker has been on the grand stage and he took home the trophy. When the going gets tough, Tony Parker's stats rise. The exact opposite for Chris Paul.
I could give a fuck less who wins regular season awards....... every player in the NBA plays the game for 1 reason......... and Tony Parker has 3 of them.
Chris Paul's stats, even though they are better on paper than the other PGs in the conversation..... theyre relative to the pack. He isnt blowing anyone away statistically. So with that said..................
I'll take the PG with the rings.
if you cant fucking understand that post then you need to call mediacom tell them to send you out an HD cable box while on your way to the eyedoctor, because you obviously arent seeing the games as clearly as i am.

Ibaka and Perkins and Collison , we saw what they did to the Spurs/Lakers/Dallas bigs. WB will be all over Chalmers.

so dispute the stats i just laid forth. you have no answer because there is no answer.
provide stats for every game paul has played vs parker. then i will reply, dont pick and choose what games you wanna talk about and what games you dont. when you are talking h2h you take every game.... what you just told me is that the spurs are better then the hornets and clippers, obvious.

Ok, but you argued Miami vs OKC and you didnt want to use every game... you just wanted playoff stats....
but now with Parker vs Paul, we cant just argue playoff stats?

Simple answer. This year, injury. The other years, paul dominated him. His team didnt, obviously. Dynasty vs a team with david west as their 2nd beat player. lol.

so eli manning is better then dan marino because he has 2 rings and dan has zero?
OR
is eli manning's giants teams better then dan marino's teams?
so jordan isnt better then bill russell, right? when you talk about individual people being better then another, what their teams accomplish doesnt say which player is better. common sense.

Injuries are part of the game..... if you're on the floor, you're on the floor.
For their entire careers.....
Parker has scored 603 total points vs Chris Paul's 612 against each other. Seems pretty close for someone to be offended that anyone is even making a case for another PG being in Chris Paul's league. Not even taking into account that as i mentioned before..... Paul's stats suffer in games that matter and Parker's elevate. Parker also plays less minutes and has a lot more coasting time on his regular season stat sheet.

Dan Marino vs Eli Manning is a reasonable argument at this point i think. Especially since Eli still has a long career ahead of him.
Bill Russell and Jordan's stats are no where near as comparable as Parker and Paul.
It's not like im saying "one guy has 4 rings, the other guy has 3, the guy with 4 is better"
One guy with no rings stats are slightly better than a guy with 3 rings. The guy with 3 rings has better playoff stats than the guy with no rings.

Kwame Brown has as many rings as tony parker, so fucking what. BTW... this season.... chris paul is better then tony parker in points, rebounds, assists, steals, less turnovers a game, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, field goals made (they both have the exact same attempts), 3pt made, attempted AND %, Free throws made, attempted AND %......
tony parker is better in field goal %...... .480 to .477

just gonna copy and paste this until you have an answer for it, since you clearly dont. Argument over.

Tony outplays paul in the playoffs?
Career playoff stats
chris paul ..... 20.5ppg, 10.1apg, 2.3spg, 5.2rpg, 82%ft, 34% 3pt, 47% fg
tony parker .. 18.9ppg, 5.1apg, 1spg, 3.2rpg, 72% ft, 30% 3pt, 46% fg
yea you are right, when the playoffs come, he completely outshines paul....
here are the stats from this years series between them two, when paul was hurt....
chris paul.... 12.8ppg, 9.3apg, 2.8spg, 4rpg, 100% ft, 33% 3pt, 37% fg
tony parker... 17.3ppg, 7.8apg, 1.2spg, 3.3rpg, 83%ft, 17% 3pt, 36% fg
looking at the % from this series, this tells me paul shot a considerable amount of times LESS then parker, and still has better stats.... what playoff stats were you looking at? and the regular season is NO CONTEST, dont forget that. wanna see those too?

Tony Parker 4-0 in games that mattered vs Chris Paul this season. Chris Paul is 10-17 for his career in games that mattered. 8 of those losses are to Tony Parker. Tony Parker is a 3 time champion. Chris Paul has never been remotely close to even being considered a championship contender. If you're into fantasy basketball, go with Paul's stats. I think the problem is you guys are arguing 2 different points that are both correct. Basketball isnt an individual sport its a team sport, probably more of a team sport than any other sport out there.
Chris Paul has played on some scrub teams, I dont even think the clippers are that good. CP3 was also injured for an entire season wasnt he? Despite all that he has put up some superstar numbers. Hes been voted all nba first team which is the NBA saying "hes the best all around talent at his position". ALL NBA is based on regular season numbers IIRC.
Now the second part is your "team" argument. There is a correlation between good players and good teams. YOu can totally say that someone like Parker has had the privledge of playing with a hall of famer or 2. Kobe had Shaq, etc etc etc. So there is an argument that can be made that we maybe we havent see just how good paul is because of the teams he has been on. I mean he went from the Hornets to the Clippers and im pretty sure he had career numbers this year despite nagging injuries.

If i had to summarize my argument, it would be simply that i put much greater value on what someone has done vs what someone has the potential to do.
No denying that Paul is a great talent and has the potential to do great things..... but i want to see him accomplish something before i start ranking him above hall of famers and world champions based on his regular season stat sheet.

granted, but that is an opinion not everyone has to share. I agree with you, i think Parker and others get put at the back of the line for no reason. Parker and Duncan are probably the most ...........unpopular champions.
The counter argument is even if CP3 had more talent around him, theres no guarantee he will win a championship............example: Miami Heat. Time will tell where CP3 falls into historys greatest.
Another player who has a ton of stats and gets totally unbelievable media hype is Melo. I cant stand Melo, but people always put him at the top.
OKC will be favored because they have HC Advantage, most home teams get a +3 advantage anyway so Miami only being down -2 is about right.

Very true. Also, you cant put 4 players on the floor that avg'd 40 points a game and assume theyre now gonna score 160 points together. You cant assume chemistry is going to take place. You cant just plug Chris Paul's stats into the Spurs lineup. Maybe Tony Parker would have scored 50 points a game if he was on the Hornets.... Maybe Chris Paul would have completely thrown off the Spurs chemistry... these things we will never know and there's no way to prove either.
Chris Paul has a big man now too, Blake Griffin avg'd more ppg than Duncan this year. Duncan also played 28 minutes per game vs Blake Griffin's 36 minutes per game. When evaluating Spur's player statistics, you have to take into consideration how often the Spurs take their foot off the gas. The Spurs do what is needed to make the playoffs.

So there is an argument that can be made that we maybe we havent see just how good paul is because of the teams he has been on. I mean he went from the Hornets to the Clippers and im pretty sure he had career numbers this year despite nagging injuries.
Man I've watched every PG in the nba so closely since 2005 its crazy. There is a huge difference in playing for the lakers versus the hornets. I mean this, look at this year. Look at the swing the "clippers" made. They were the laughing stock of the nba forever. They almost won their division, over the lakers. They didnt just go from not making the playoffs to barely making it. They stormed into the playoff race and knocked out a VERY good memphis team. There is a reason david stern didnt want CP3 to go to the lakers. Even though he was the PG on the all nba team. This is not CLOSE to his best year, look at his stats from 2007-2010. DOMINATING, but nobody saw him until he exploded in the playoffs. He was #2 in the MVP vote behind kobe in 2007 if im mistaken. If not for the black mamba, who is widely considered in the top 10 to ever play the game, he would already have a MVP.
The ONLY reason i say nobody is in his category, is based solely on the fact that he does everything GREAT. Rondo is a passer and a floor general, but in general he can't shoot and doesnt play defense. Tony parker is a great scorer and a descent passer and great leader, but is not a floor general, plays no defense, and doesnt shoot the 3pt shot well. Westbrook is a dominate scorer and finisher, but doesnt run pick and roll well (unless taking a mid range shot), picks when he wants to play defense, and has no clue how to be a floor general and doesnt pass well, and turns the ball over all the time. derrick rose is a great leader and scorer, in spite of being so quick on offense, has no foot speed on defense, not a great passer or floor general. deron williams is great, but he is definitely playing with trash. he will be back in the argument when he goes somewhere decent. He's the one pg i think has a shittier team then cp3, lol. well him and steve nash....
here are pauls career stats.... look at the 07-08 season stats and the 08-09, so yea this year was not his best year.

Lets take a closer look...... let's compare chris pauls best season to derrick rose mvp season... they both played 80+ games
Derrick Rose.... 25ppg, 7.7apg, 4.1rpg, 1spg, 3.43 to/game, 45%fg, 33% 3pt, 86% ft
Chris paul....... 23ppg, 11apg, 5.5rpg, 2.8spg, 2.5 to/game, 50%fg, 36% 3pt, 87% ft
if kobe wasnt in his "prime" during pauls season he would have a mvp as well. kobe also was averaging 28ppg then, but here is a small link to refresh memory. btw the season i posted above was the year AFTER he finished 2nd in the mvp race. this is just a comparison, nothing more....

actually westbrook is playing REALLY well, 1 turnover , 7 -8 assists. 5-15 sucks your right but they have been makeable shots.
LEBRICK cant hit a jump shot

he needs to quit shooting jump shots, he likes to get into a jumpshot battle with durant, he would dominate him if he would take him off the dribble.... it would be nice to see him contest a durant layup too and quit letting him go directly to the rim. amazing.... some suspect calls in the 3rd quarter too, home court advantage though

OKC clearly the more dominant team this game. If Miami didnt have that retarded jump shooting in the first half, this would be a 20+ point blowout

Those were wide open shots by design. None of them were contested, they went away from their first half game plan. A lot of suspect calls in the 3rd quarter too. But the game was over when the 4th started. Miami is best with dwayne wade in a pick and roll at the top of the key with shooters in both corners, preferably pulling the big men out of the paint. I think they need to ISO bosh more too, there is a clear advantage there.

Most people think Miami is the best transition team in the league..............
24-4 POINTS IN TRANSITION FOR OKC
BOSH OFF THE BENCH?
WADE BEING IN LALA LAND SHOOTING JUMPERS
LBJ NOT GUARDING DURANT?
FYI LBJ is 3-24 in the last 2 games from outside the paint.

Why does he shoot jumpers, get durant in foul trouble. Then take advantage of whoever they put on you after. But game 1 is a feel out game, game 2 is a big deal. Adjustments will be made, be sure of that.

They played each other 4 times in the regular season, i expected the heat to come out in kill mode, they didnt. They came out in "oh this is just a feel out game no big deal" . OKC didnt need to feel them out. OKC got it done.
I dont get the sense of non urgency from Miami.

no miami needed tofeel out okc. a series isnt a series until somebody wins on the road. game 1 is no big deal if miami wins game 2... then we all will be having a different convo. basketball is a series of games. one game tells us nothing. hell sometimes 2 games tells us nothing, look at SA. up 2-0 and didnt win another game, ppl like to over react when miami gets down, i dont, mainly because theyve been down the entire playoffs. they have shown us this year that they can come back from being down in a series.

Miaim hasnt demonstrated they can do win from behind or lead from ahead.
last year they drop games to Dallas, this year they climb out of a hole against Indiana and Boston, but those teams are OKC.
I expected better.

i think last night came down to defense. you cant expect to win in the nba giving up 105pts. once the defense gets tighter, the series will change.
