Hey guys. I'm super glad I found a car forum for the location of my new place of employment starting within next few months. I just graduated from University of Toledo in Toledo, OH and accepted an offer from a company in Atlanta, GA. Accepting this and forcing me to move so far has been the biggest decision in my life so far. I'm 22 years old and one of my biggest passions in life is cars, bikes, anything that runs and I'm super mechanically inclined. I owned quite a few cars and bike throughout high school and college including MazdaSpeed Protege, '06 Civic Si, SRTurd-4, an LS1 F-body Camaro, W8 Passat, CBR 600RR, 636 Ninja, etc. Funds got tight in college so I currently rock a '92 minty fresh, rust-free Honda Civic sedan as a DD, and have an '03 Yamaha R1 for nice days.

Here's a few pics.

Probably going to sell my Civic since new job offers a brand new 2012 Taurus as a company vehicle, but will definitely be bringing the bike down with me. Toledo, OH's car scene sorta sucks and there aren't really any good twisty roads for spirited cycle driving so I'm looking forward to moving. I mapquested "Tail of the Dragon" from ATL and found out it's about 2.5 hours away which is SICK. However.. whenever I watch "Bait Car" on TV, it is filmed in Atlanta, and I don't want my shit stolen! Basically I'm looking to network/meet people before I even move down there which is why I'm writing this today. I only know 1 girl from GA Tech who recommended finding an apartment INTOWN in Atlanta in either Midtown, Virginia Highlands, or Buckhead.. Are these good places within the city to live? 22 years old, recent college grad, want to live near other young professionals. Any apartments offer separate garages (since I'm bringing my bike)?

Thanks guys. Looking forward to the weather and meeting new people once I make the move.

I will be working as a territory sales rep, so I will not need to base my housing location near any company since I will be on the road all day. I found a few places on apartments.com. Since I am single, and will only be taking my cat with me lol, a 1-bedroom will suffice. Garage isn't mandatory since I can always get a storage unit, but still would be nice. I guess asking if anyone has experience in living in/near Buckhead? Midtown? Virginia Highlands? I heard these are nicer places to live..

How's the nightlife? Bar scene decent? I feel like I can always find something to do almost every night of the week where I currently live. Atlanta, GA the same way? I would suspect it to be more busy since it is a much larger city/vacation-hub compared to shitty Toledo, OH..

I live over near emory, theft is fairly minimal around here, the most you'll see is a student taking a bag out of a car. but good area other than that. welcome to the area every thursday night is bike night, they meet at vortex or varsity and ride out from there. you'll have a good time here.

Virginia Highlands isn't too terrible.
Buckhead can be expensive.
Keep the Civic.
Love the bike ( I have a 600RR myself )
Welcome to IA.

Buckhead and Dunwoody would be the most expensive areas to live in but as they say, "You get what you pay for", so it's a great choice if you can afford it. And if you like working on cars then keep in touch because I need some car buddies to help me work on my 94 Camaro V6 3.4L

Welcome to Atlanta and IA, and congratulations on your new job. There is meets all over the place in Atlanta and the surrounding areas, so don't worry about not knowing anyone around here. You will in a very short amount of time. One thing that growing up in Atlanta taught me is that you always want to know a back way because of the traffic and you keep up with your crap, lock it up, whatever you have to do, do it to keep it safe. People are always looking to steal stuff. I'd be more than willing to personally help you get acclimated to the city once you get here(if you're not already here). Just send me a message on here and we can set something up! Let me know man!
Again, Welcome to Atlanta(where the playas play.)

I am on vacation with my mother as a graduation gift currently in London, England and recently visited Bacelona, Spain but will be back in the states this Sunday. I start training near my hometown this Monday and will talk to my boss in ATL to figure out an appropriate start date. I'm assuming within a month. Thanks Western. I'll hit you up after I move.
91S13, we'll have to meet up and cruise after I ship my R1 down there.
