I think I'm taking a break from the car "scene" for a while. Lately I've being going to meets and whatnot... See absolutely nothing that interests me anymore.

I'll go if it a SF or Garage Zero thing, 'cause I always have a good time seeing those guys, but that's about it.

I'm putting the Miata on jack stands tomorrow for a while. Not taking the new truck so some dumb-ass can drift into it while showing off in the parking lot.

Plus, I'll be busy Saturday if all goes according to plan.

They changed the course?

yeah
instead of the right hand kink, then left around the corner. they are going straight and just hanging a right at the end.

Catering to the higher HP cars id imagine to make more smoke on that longer turn

That's what's turning me off about pro drifting. It used to be about the 4 cylinders. Now they're stuffing V8s into everything. It's easy to break loose when you've got assloads of low-end torque

I'll be there 11th and 12th - Friday is the best day! The drifters try out diff styles/lines and it's not so high-stress, plus like 1/100th the crowd lol

Actually was really thinking about not wanting to pay for the tix, but Groupon had 50% off last week :goodjob:

*Also in case anyone still needs to buy tickets, there is a code PRPASS for 10% off*

I hope they don't change the course - That'll take a toll on the turbo 4's and amateur level racers I'm sure, trying to power up that hill :dunno:

I kinda like the layout means more speed down the straight to hit the curve

I don't understand?

With the new course design they go through the bend, then uphill all the way to the top of the horseshoe, and on the way back downhill through the horseshoe and then the s curve. It will definitely be more of a struggle for the low-powered turbo 4's and overall a slower approach wouldn't you think?

I don't think I'll mind as much, but it will also make it harder to see/get pics of the cars at the point they come closest to the crowd (around the horseshoe) since smoke will already be lingering at the higher elevation from coming up the long straight first. We'll see!

Should be there Saturday barring any unforseen obstacles, possibly Friday but I doubt the wife will be up for it.

new layout worked really really well for both pro's and pro-am guys.

Yea, it wasn't bad at all! The only thing I noticed was they used the e-brake a lot more to finish off the last part of their drift to keep it sideways at the top of the horseshoe, which to me just seems a little sloppy.

Also, the first night they had a cutoff for points where if you didn't stay above 35 mph up to the horseshoe you got 0/10 points on speed, but I didn't notice them continue to talk about that on the second night? Did they scrap it, or just not mention it during the scoring?

I'll be there.

lol

Well during qualifying they were saying the radar gun was acting up, but I just don't think they were mentioning the speed portion during eliminations because there's so much else to talk about. It sounded like all the top guys should have been well over that 35mph threshold anyway.
