okay long story short I had a build ek 2-3 years ago and sold to a member on here told him it made 300whp(on the butt dyno) he put a new clutch in it and it was tuned for 369whp....I am currently still attending GSU (6th year :( engineering major) so my budget is limited.. i have own all kinds of sport bikes from gsxr600 to R1 and a busa at one point....recently many of the people i hang out with talk about how fast there mustang, charger, 240, miata, ect. are. I told them that my old civic ran 11sec and the money i had in it and they swear up and down that they could have out ran it. So on a semi limited budget i decided to prove them wrong.....I have two jobs(60-87hrs a week) and go to school at the same time..... so please if you are going to hate please remember that mommy and daddy had no influences in this build, hell they want me to graduate and would be pissed that i was "blowing my money on another car"! ....goal is 300-400 whp with out being sleeved and to possibly hit high 10s at the track (I pray a lot ....lol)

pictures will be posted soon..

x2 on that but nice to see another D build. For a fun street car I really don't see going any other way. Cheap parts compared to b, H and k-series, still make good power and get sweet gas mileage.

i know about the super low compression.....i believe it is 8.85-1 if i remember right

this is as far i have got on the project, i have bought paint for the car and i will have that posted tomorrow.....oh and this is a budget build so i might added that i found a civic with a burnt valve and a bad CV axle for only $350 .....a steal. needs a little tlc but i have had the car for over 6months now so i hope to have the motor in this weekend, with out the turbo set up and hopefully the engine bay repainted.

Like i said i had a h22 (h22a1) build also going on at the same time, wanted to do it a little different than a sohc build. This was the engine i started building first, it has eagle h-beam rods and mahle low compression pistons, balanced rotating assembly, resurfaced clutch.......this build started digging deep into my pockets with what seemed like little to no progress because i was having to buy almost everything new all i started out with was a spare block and crank (that was donated to me by a good friend, for free because he wanted me to out run his h2b setup)....i will continue this build but slowly buying parts for two motors at the same time gets you no where but with a garage full of Honda shit...lol

I just purchased rc 750cc injectors, Still need fuel pump. Does anyone know the part number of the fuel pump at advance, it is the exact same as a walboro 255 (we have used it on 3 boosted builds, h22 build, b18c1 builds and it works great.) and is only $80.....I just forgot the part number.

Ive been collecting parts for a similiar block build. Just having a hard time finding a good block/crank to use.

Nice work so far!

thanks

yea i was in the same boat.......i ending up using a z6 crank, flywheel, pulley, but in a y8 block....I have two z6 blocks (one needs new sleeves and could not have it bored out) and the other one some DA had a one b16 head bolt and then stripped the another two out of the block, so its trashed

I may end up building the y8 in my car, but id really hoped to find a spare block to build and reduce downtime

8.85/1 compression isn't really THAT bad...as long as you put a properly sized turbo on it...

sweet build...keep up the good work!

My sohc f22a1 WAS 8.8:1, so not far off. I made 347/313. I love low-ish compression with a decent sized turbo. Especially if you have a long geared transmission. Highway runs are redicOlus!

Baller build! What cam?

Your compression should be around 7.5:1 ..... The fj rods bring you up to around 8.5:1

thanks but there is one from advance that i use. has all of the same flow rates as a walboro 255 and is only like 70 bucks. have used it on many of my cars and friends have too turbo/na it works great.

run a single layer head gasket that will help alot on the compression . I also sold my old h22 mahle stuff to justin which has been making close to 500hp on it for 2 years stock block.

Yea I have talked to Justin a few times and even met him once to buy a head one day a few months ago, really nice guy and knows his stuff. I have been looking at his builds and also your builds to see what to expect and what to run. You really know your shit when it comes to the h22, I just wish that you were building boosted h22. I might hit you up in the next couple of months to see if you have any spare parts, i still need a few to get the h22 to run but that is looking like it is going to be a spare motor at the moment its a little more expensive when you step up to the "big blocks" of hondas.

little more expensive when you step up to the "big blocks" of hondas.

Much more then a little. You could buy fj rods and use vitara pistons and sleeve the block and still wouldnt be the price of buying a h series and building it with stock sleeves.

just painted the engine bay. Normally my roommate paints for me but i wanted this to be a all hands on build. So i got out of class today around 12;30 and do not have to work tonight so i decided to try out painting (lack patience). It was a little more difficult than i originally thought. There were a few tight spots that was pretty hard to spray so i did it to the best of my abilities. Also i got a little excited and forgot to take up the wiring harness  also got a little trigger happy at times and there are one or two runs in some corners that i noticed  yet this is my first paint job with a gun period so cut me some slack. Once i get the engine in and all figured out i plan on having my roommate repaint the engine bay. Like i said just trying to do this all by myself.

hope you guys don't hate on it too much.

finally got the motor in late Saturday night and started it up sunday morning  runs good, seems to have no problems except stock ecu does not like the 70mm throttle body. So i am waiting on ECtune and the demon to come in, also a double core radiator, and a 3bar map sensor then it will be turbo time.

will your turbo mani/ turbo fit with a full length radiator.... i kno mine didnt. i went with a sohc go autoworks aluminum rad.

stealth1
06-04-2012, 05:44 PM
yes it will fit....it is the half length radiator with the slim fan just the core is twice as thick....i need to decide now which manifold to get i looked at the go autoworks mini-ram or the ram manifold. Not sure which would be best i have been reading about the pros and cons of length of a turbo manifold and just get confused. lol :screwy:

i MIGHT be able to help. whats your engine setup and goals for the car?

stealth1
06-04-2012, 07:31 PM
goals: 300-400hp (looking at around 18-22psi no more than 22). I also wanting to take it to the track from time to time i am guessing it will run mid 11sec on slicks....i am looking at either a gt30 or gt28 turbo i want a turbo that is not too laggy but will also produce big numbers on the d-series....the last one i built i sold it to a guy and he took it to jjspec and they changed the turbo to a gt3070(i believe) driving it whenever, everyone says that they are not dependable so drive it till it messes up and then fix it. this is not my daily but will probably be driven often. I would say around 20-30 miles a day

also what are some good inner coolers? ......i mean what are the difference between a ebay and a 500hp one, i would assume flow rates and efficiency but what makes the big money ones any different, maybe a smooth inlet and outlet?

Jdm94Coupe

i would just get a go-autoworks intercooler... medium or large.... leave the gt shit to the big $ drag ppl, IMO.....

your head ported? stock cam?

its been so long since i saw an update, i honestly forgot.

ramhorn. because you didnt port the head. u will need all the help u can get from the turbo and mani. i would run a 57 trim or so, maybe a 60-1

good build man, wish i would have seen this build earlier, I just sold the ectune ecu about a month ago. The silver car made 353whp back then, but that was after I put in cp pistons, go autoworks large intercooler, chargepipes, mini ram, bullseye spec turbo.

I know it has been awhile since the last update work has taking up most of my time. The good new is that turbo, bov, intercooler, ect has came in and Should be installed within the next week or two because i still need to break the clutch in.
