So i'm traveling trying to go to the post office on my lunch

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/integra_hot/IMAG0577.jpg

trying to see why these parts have not gotten to my mother's house and why they are saying that the address is undeliverable (radiator hoses, speedo cable and compressor)....i'm in teh right lane and this other car is RIGHT THERE on my left so i couldnt swerve in the left lane w/o side swiping that person. This guy comes right into my lane and stops and as i'm slamming on brakes, this simple motherfuker is staring at me....

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/integra_hot/IMAG0588.jpg

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f73/integra_hot/IMAG0589.jpg

this is the bullshit he left me..i've only loved two of my vehicles i've ever owned, this was the second, i didnt care about the maxima like that, i liked it, but, at the end of the day i'm almost sure they are going to total it because it needs a radiator support, etc all that and paint is gonna cost more than they are gona want to give me for it.

Fuck man! You might be able to hammer that out

Dude that sucks mane!!!!

Sammich

I just hope the insurance company doesnt total it, because if they do i'm just pulling all my parts off of it and putting the stock shit back on it. i really dont want a vehicle w/ a salvaged title. i've calmed down alot since the accident i wanted to jump through the windshield and choke the shit outa him. gota keep remembering it's just a car

Rhys.

This sucks man to bad their isnt a way around the insurance and fix it yourself... Thats what I did

If the insurance company fixes it. It will not have a slavage title. But due to its age its probably a total I have seen 90-93 integras at the auction with less damage. Fyi i dont think it has to have a core suport that could be pulled out very easy.

Sucks to hear, man. Try to get the most they'll give you without totalling it. Great looking car, otherwise =/

God damn this sucks. I wouldn't be so sure about the total though. One of my buds got his 89 240 fixed and it had some pretty substantial rear quarter damage.

I'm sorry, but i couldn't help but bust out laughing when i read "this simple motherf***er is staring at me..." :goodjob: Sucks about your car though, i definitely know that feeling. They might not total it though since the damage is in such a limited area. G' luck

that is a easy fix man! but sorry to hear what happend

Noooooo!!! Damn I really liked this car.

Vteckidd
03-20-2012, 11:14 PM
uhh dont let them totaly it. thats like a 60 min fix. That piece bolts off, you can hammer it out pretty easy and line it back up

thats like a $50 headlight and a headlight bracket

Sammich
03-21-2012, 07:42 AM
i'll try not to let them total it, but you know they are about business and dont care if the car is 'my baby'. i'm calling his insurance company today and go ahead and get the ball rolling so i can see WTH needs to get done and if they say totalled if i can get them to not total it. but i do agree it is, in general a simple fix, but me owning a car with a salvage/rebuilt title i dont want part of it. everytime i look at a for sale ad and i see salvage/rebuilt title i immediately hit the back button, no matter what it is or how good it looks

SN: the headlights that were damaged in the wreck are jdm one pieces (oem jdm) that at the cheapest on forums are $200 and upwards of $350 (passwordjdm.com smh) and i do plan on going back with those

Vteckidd
03-21-2012, 08:51 AM
Oh well that's different.

I'd go print out as many for sale ads as you can, that car is probably worth $2500-3000 if stock considering its condition.

That is probably MAX $700-1000 fix. Shouldn't total it. If so, get $2500-3000 , buy it back, fix it, pocket $2000 and stock it with rebuilt title till wheels fall off.

You can sell it just tell your story and show these pics no one is going to hold this against you on a 90-93 integra LOL.

You should make a lot of money on this

Sammich
03-21-2012, 11:24 AM
yea, upwards of 4K actually, according to NADA..of course it didnt allow me to put in the mileage, but after all the work i put into it, other than the rear seats not being mint, its a helluva lot better than when i bought it. good idea on printing out for sale ads

ok well first things first. INformation is your best asset. Its best for you to be armed with more information than the bullshit adjuster they will send out that will try to talk you out of anything.

1) If the accident was THEIR fault, then they have to provide you with the same mode of transportation that they robbed you off. OBVIOUSLY a 90-93 integra in as good a shape as what you have is HARD TO FIND. Craigslist search i found some for $2000-2500 that were piles of garbage. Now, KBB says its worth $1300, they may try to say that to you. Your response is "KBB doesnt take into effect market demand, demand for this car is very high. You simply cannot find a car in the same condition as mine for $1300, if you can, show it to me." Then id mention how 92-95 Honda Civics go for $3000-4000 all day long despite only being "worth $1000" via KBB. This is when you present them documents showing 20-30 Integras similar to yours ranging in prices from $2000-4000 proving that his argument and assessment is invalid. Clearly the car is worth more than $1300.

2) Once you have established value, hes going to have to decide to get an estimate to fix the car. this is where you have to be careful, take it to a reputable body shop, explain your situation, and i bet you can find a place that can do it for $1000 or less, thus protecting your car, and being less than "totaling" the car out to the insurance company. (REmember you have established the value of the car is north of $2000, insurance company will want to take the cheaper route".

3) you get lucky and they give you $3500-4000 to total the car out.

ALWAYS ARGUE, they work FOR YOU, remind them that you were perfectly fine driving your car till THEIR DRIVER hit you, and you will not be setback financially because of his bad driving.

They have 60 days to settle the claim, hold out, they will cave in the end.

Id also look up the cost of wheels like yours, suspension like yours, if it has a swap or not, the JDM headlights, etc. You can never have too much information. When he writes you an estimate for $100 headlights, you say "NAH BRO, THESE ARE JDM, $400". hell say "we dont pay for aftermarket parts", thats when you have 2 responses

1) Then i want OEM factory Honda Headlights, not DEPO remans (which is what his estimate will be for). Lucky for you OEM Honda Headlights even for that car are $270 PLUS SHIPPING PER HEADLIGHT. $357 LIST price (MSRP)
http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/srchrslts2_oem.jsp?catcgry1=INTEGRA&catcgry2=1992&catcgry3=4DR%20LS&catcgry5=HEADLIGHT&pp=0&np=25
2) If you didnt want to replace JDM headlights, you shouldnt insure a driver that ruined my car cause he has bad driving habits.

They have to replace what they damaged, the fact they are aftermarket and cost more is not your problem, its theirs.

At some point you just level with him "look man, you dont want to fight me for months on this , and i dont want to lose my car cause its hard to replace. pay me to fix the headlights and the minor front end damage and we can go about our ways"

i'm curious..i just (just over a month ago) put brand new brakes, front and back, would you include that? or just aftermarket parts

Vteckidd
03-21-2012, 01:44 PM
sure, just proves you take good care of they car. I wouldnt be looking to get money back for it, it just shows "hey i care for the car more than some other kids with their shitbag 20 year old hondas"

This car is meticulously maintained, i expect another car of equal value which isnt your average KBB car he will quote you.

I once got $2900 for a stripped down primered gutted 90 CRX DX because i was "restoring it" LOL

Id say prob not unless they are upgrade from oem. Otherwise you could claim your last oil change, wipers and so on.

But I could be wrong.

you shouldnt CLAIM it to try an get reimbursed for it, you are using it to build a case that your car isnt AVERAGE, you take care of it.

a 90-93 well taken care of INtegra is much harder to value than a 08-10 car.

with these last two posts...just made me decide to go to the parts store and get a list of my purchase history lol. thanks. i have a list of cars valuing from $3k + that are in good condition, including one 2 dr (which i'd rather a 4dr) kinda close by for $3500 with 115k miles

he is right, arguing does go a long with with insurance companies. When I was rear ended(their fault), I got their insurance to cover my nismo exhaust(which i actually didnt want anyway lol) so I got a new exhaust system for free basically. Also they will probably try to quote fixing your car with cheap parts...make them use OEM parts.

What did the cop say? Who got a ticket?

I can't imagine any adjuster valuing this repair more than $1350 all said and done so don't worry, nobody will be writing you a check for the "value" of your car.

Sammich
03-26-2012, 01:51 PM
cop didnt write a ticket but gave us both forms that indicated he was at fault.. and the idiot who pulled out agreed that he was at fault in front of two ladies taht walked up and in front of the police officer when he finally arrived on the scene..i'm going to try to get a rental car today, leave work early

the last sentence made me lol..i needed that..thanks man..i think i did sink into a little depression right now about it, the other DB1 i want incase this gets totaled, the guy hasnt responded to my email, then again, it hasnt been a full 24hrs either, but still..i just hope i get back into one...i have a ton of listings from forums and a couple from craigslist so if they try to total it, i'll show them all the paper work of what i printed of their value and try not to get shorted this time around.

Vteckidd is spot on. This situation is an easy win for you if you're willing to put a little work in.
