I got no problem throwing radials on my shit and driving it around all night but I could never convince you that my shit is street car. It has a cage. It has a Glide with a trans-brake. There is no heat or AC. No power steering. No cruise control. It runs on C16. I buy the fuel and if I wanna spend two or three hundred bucks to cruise around on a Saturday night, thats my problem. You see, apparently driving a car around on the street does not make it a street car these days. At what point are people gonna start saying shit like "if it doesnt get at least 30 MPG, its not a street car"? Obviously a cage disqualifies me even though it is required at any track that is worth going to. My auto trans disqualifies me even though over half the cars produced come with auto trans. Some say anyone can go fast with an auto. Just floor it. Those are the guys that think they are clutch car heroes. Typically those clowns are the ones that will only race from a roll because, in their words "my shit wont hook up". I say show me them skills and get that pig moving from a dig or STFU about your driving skills. It doesnt matter if I fired my shit up and drove to Daytona Beach and back. It will always be a RACE car to some of you guys. I'm damned if I do and damned if I dont. I could say your car should be fast as fuck, you spoent enough money on it. A street car should generally be a car that could be daily driven as it is currently setup, without any changes. It should be a car that you wouldn't mind driving it back and forth to a job 20 miles away from you every day for the next six months in all weather conditions, and it should be at least reasonably road legal. Street car track classes generally require the driver to drive 30 miles on the street in a street legal setup, then stage with nothing more than tire pressure adjustment - no changing maps in the computer, changing fuel source, changing timing, etc.

Tires - they need to be DOT approved, and not bald where you would get a ticket for them, or would be afraid to get on the interstate in the the rain. Hoosier QTPxs, and MT ET Streets are DOT legal, as are DRs, but slicks are not. Face it - it's not safe to drive from Atlanta to SDR on slicks at 70mph. That's a fact.

Fuel - C16 and C23 are not legal by any means - not even remotely close. You can't drive your car 500 miles from home and back, because you wouldn't be able to get fuel. First of all, how many stations would you pass on that 500 mile trip that sells the VP100? We all have different interest, which make for some nice setup's, and lots of different cars, but not everyone will agree that each setup is truly a street car.. So we end-up with a bunch of hard-legs standing around doing dick before a race even happens... I guess that since Bob at KMS (who is on here) could put a tag and insurance back on his race car (it used to be a street car), and happens to already run 7's on DR's, then that makes his a street car....
Bottom line, a street car should be able to be driven a decent distance and able to refuel at normal gas stations. If you a limit of less than 100 miles on a tank, or have to run home to pump fuel out of a barrel to be able to drive the car, it beats the spirit of being a street car.

2) You can't get VP100 at the pump but it is a certified street legal fuel. C16 and C23 are not legal on the street. There is a difference. Look at racing organizations - most street car classes restrict the types of fuel and tires. This is common. This shouldn't be an issue for your car though - a quick adjustment and you should still be able to pump out enough power.

3) Cage should use SFI-45 padding at least. Common sense is that you are taking a risk with a cage on the street, but there is no legal reason that it would make the car incapable of being a street car.

i agree with almost everything you have said in this thread minus the last sentence of ^ post. My mustang was makin 700hp and got over 20mpg and i drove it 7 days a week the entire time i owned it, i also have a jeep wrangler soft top, and a ford ranger. and i would rather road trip my mustang any day of the week. its just as reliable as either. got better gas milage.was a much smoother ride, and had a dvd player lol

So, how would you get your car from Columbus to Atlanta and back? Sounds like you could only do it on a trailer, as you can't run a street legal fuel. So, your car needs a trailer to make it from one town to another?

I dont live in Columbus. But my car will run on pump gas. Of coarse with the tune on the car it is a grenade with the pin out at WOT. Three seconds and we're sweeping parts up outta the street. LOL I have driven the car from Dalton GA to Summit Racing in Mcdonough and back on pump gas with no issues. So the car will cruise no problem. It gets about 10-11 MPG the best I can figure. Obviously I could pulley down and re-tune the car for pump gas but since it is just a weekend cruiser and STREET/STRIP car I'd rather not lose 200 plus RWHP. If this disqualifies me as a street car then oh well. I will gladly admit your transportation is faster than my transportation. But when we are setting around in a parking lot shooting the shit, the car you drove up there will not outrun the car I drove up there.

ok guys last night on the dyno when pilling up on spry my pump failed and i didnt have the fuel pressure safty switch installed yet so it blew the intake, mass air meter, and intake manifold appart ....

we ordered another pump and intake, manifold and i called right jerry then and sent the pics and ask if we can make it next weekend when the impalas are racing to give me a chance to get parts in and he agreed .

so one more week girls continue the drama..

I am possibly just hoping for the best and being optimistic in vain, but the man did say in the text that he was probably going to have to race you next weekend due to him being unable to source an intake manifold. I can understand your being upset at him for being so negligent as to display your number on a public forum and I can understand that one back out often leads to the next. Part of the reason I got out of the "hobby". People just can have fun anymore It gets childish and imature with the shit talking. Like what was said early in the tread about calling some one to race with less then a hours notice then calling them a pussy when they decline.
