Ok so I used to be in the honda game way back in the day (about 7 years ago) so I'm just getting back into it thanks to the wife.....I know strange. Anyway last August wife comes up to me and says, babe I don't want my BMW anymore and I want to get rid of some debt. I'm thinking ok, you can sell your car but I'm not selling my car (2008 black on black Charger). Well wife sells her BMW and I get her a civic (1997 Civic EX coupe 5 spd), I'm thinking hey a Civic is reliable, good on gas and if something happens to it I can fix it, you know the all american husband lol!! So we fast forward to January of this year (2012) and wife blows the head gasket on said Civic and is now stranded on the side of the highway at 3 in the morning. I meet her, make a quick fix and on the way home wife says; I don't want this car anymore, I want a EK hatch!! I'm thinking first off where did you get that chassis code from (EK)? You been watching that Top Gear show again lol? She said no I've been on Import Atlanta and Honda Tech. I'm like ok well we'll find you a hatch and I'll keep the coupe (in my mind I'm like hell yeah, she has no idea what I'm going to do with this car)!! Long story short I buy her a pretty clean 1996 Civic CX hatch and she loves it!! So now that I've kept the wife happy (for now) I'll move on to the build:

Now keep in mind I just started this build in January and still have a lot of work to do, but thanks to the guys and Mainstream Performance (Robert, Ben, James and you can never forget ole Scotty!!) this build is happening, so I would definately like to thank all of them!!!

Ok first pics right after purchase:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/029.jpg

The car was in decent shape. I bought the car back when gas was a little higher than it was now and Hondas were going for the premium. Seller wanted $3500.00 but after picking it a part I ended up getting it for $2,060.00. I thought it was a pretty good deal with 124,000 miles on it.

So like I said earlier my wife blows the head gasket so now comes the hard decision. Do I stay single cam and throw a little boost on her, or do I go atleast with an LS swap and boost it. Well after visiting Mainstream the decision was much easier, I ended up picking up a jdm GSR swap that was fully built with only about 3k miles on it. The swap was full of aftermarket goodies like Eagle rods, JE pistons, block gaurd, magnetic drain plug, Skunk2 intake manifold, Wavetrac lsd, ACT clutch/flywheel and brand new seals and shit!! The motor and tranny was built at Mainstream with all Honda OEM parts and such and I got it on the low (thanks Charles!!) Anyway so after a few frustrating days (mainly because I forgot how to do everything) the swap was in!!

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1078.jpg

Ok so now the swap was in and now it was time to address a few things before the boost came. First order of business was the wheels/tires, suspension and brakes. I ended up going with the Eibach Pro System Plus, complete with springs, shocks and swap bars. As far as brakes I ended going with an AEM big brake kit for now with hawk pads. Will probably end up going with the Willwood kit before long! As far as wheels go I went with some 16" polished Rota slips, wrapped in Falken Azenis (215-45R16) to round everything out!!

More pics:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1242.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1244.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1247.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1248.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1252.jpg

And yes these brakes do fit behind 16" wheels, I still have about 1/4 gap between the calipers and wheels with this setup. These AEM brakes kind of suck, good thing I don't have to much money in them. I wonder if Fastbrakes has figured out a way to mount the willwood calipers on the AEM big brake kit? Will have to find that out. Oh and by the way I ended up doing a complete 99-00 front end conversion (headlights, front and rear bumpers, both fenders, hood, foglights and both front and rear lips). I'm probably going to end up going with a Back Yard Special (BYS) front bumper before I finish the exterior though.

And now pics of the new stance:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1176.jpg

Ok now the next order of business was to have Mainstream fabricate me a valve cover ventilation/catch can system for the boost to come!!

Lines and catch can mocked up:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1183.jpg

Valve cover stripped and prepped for some welding:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1182.jpg

Ok now that the ventilation system was taken care of it was now time to swap the Skunk2 intake manifold for an Edeldbrock piece:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1190.jpg

End results:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1198.jpg

Next up was mounting of the intercooler and some modifications to the intercooler piping to get everything to fit snug. I got the intercooler off of ebay and the dimensions are 28x8x3.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1210.jpg

Next I ordered some 1000cc injectors from Fuel Injector Connection up in Cumming GA (freakin awesome deal) and a Walbro fuel pump. Now you would think that all the hard crap was done...........wrong (rant time!!) I swear I had never seen people that will post something online that they are trying to sell and then when you call them and tell em that you want to buy it they flake!!! I probably found 3-4 nice quality turbo kits ranging from $1500.00-$3000.00 that people were trying to sell that I could not buy for some reason. I would get in contact with them and say:

Me: hey bro saw you had a turbo kit for sale on the forum and wanted to know if you still had it.
Them: uhhhh yeah I still have the kit
Me: ok well I have cash in hand, front pocket, back pocket, your pockets, my socks, your socks and I'm sure if I looked in my glove box I would probably find another dollar!! (you get my drift)(for all the slow people: I was basically saying hey I have all the money in my hand right now, not part of the money, not can you wait until I get paid?).
Them: well uhhhh hmmmm I don't know man I was about to go to the gym and work out. Think you can come get it next week?
Me: WTF? Are you serious. Ok guys I know people are busy, but I wouldn't care if I was loaded and trying to sell something. If someone called me wanting to buy one of my parts that I'm trying to sell for like 3 stacks, I'm going to get my fat ass up and meet so I can get paid. Atleast thats what I thought normal people would do. Ok enough ranting. The above scenario happened 3-4 times and I finally got fed up with it, so I called a buddy of mine who had a slightly used (50 miles) ebay kit. Now at first I didn't want the kit for the obvious reasons, plus the kit was intended for a SOHC so the turbo was a t3 t4, but it was a 50 trim. So I rolled my happy ass up to Rome and bought it for $300.00 complete with everything, turbo (zero shaft play), mani, intercooler, intercooler piping, bov and a bunch of other stuff. I hopped on ebay and bought a log style manifold for $40.00 and I also picked up that intercooler that are in the above pics. I ended up getting a tial waste gate from a fella on here (can't remember his screen name, but I appreciate the good deal). After the new mani got here I installed the kit. Had a couple of issues as they should be expected from an ebay kit but none the less the kit was on and working fine.

Pics:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/TFS_8576.jpg

Next was the tune which Scotty @ Mainstream did for me. Setup ended up making 360hp @ 14-15lbs. The turbo responds very quickly and was at full spool around 4k rpm. The boost comes in real smooth and has a very broad power band. We tried to go higher (19psi) but the waste gate spring (6lbs) said hell no. No worries because very soon I'll be purchasing some cams, valve train, throttle body, equal length mani and some other crap that I can't remember then I'll retune and see where I'm at. I am very happy with the power output or hp per dollar spent. At 300hp (9-10psi) the car is a beast (ripped the welded driver's side motor mount 3 times and counting). So don't hate on the egay to bad, when this turbo decides that it wants to take a poop, I'll replace it with a 60-1 Garrett variant FTW!! I don't have any pics from the dyno but as soon as I'm done posting this thread I'll upload them to Youtube and edit in a link.

Here's your vid:

Ok now came the exhaust, I didn't want anything loud at ALL!!! So I modified my stock muffler. I started by removing the muffler and cutting it open:

Took out one of the walls and several baffles.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1213.jpg

Replaced the 1 3/4 pipe with a 3" pipe (outlet):

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/IMG_1218.jpg

And welded it back together (I know my welding sucks as I haven't welded in 7 years), you'll be fine. Mocked it on the car and welded a 3" inlet, then took it all back down, welded the axle back portion to the muffler and mocked it back up. We then welded and angled 3" outlet that continued to meet the bumper, then painted everything black to hide my shotty welding.

Enjoy:

Ok so to me it looks good because it looks stock, but more importantly its flows very well and is quiet as hell (some of my buddies that have rode in my car call it the quiet demon) lol. The entire exhaust is 3" mandrel bent piping all the way out. I also recorded a video of the exhaust and once again as soon as I'm done posting this I will upload one, you should like. Haters go ahead and blast, but it flows well, looks good, sounds great (quiet) and didn't cost me a dime!!!

Ok so now that I can pause on the engine I started on the interior!! First thing I bought was an 99-00 SI gauge cluster. I took the gauge cluster a part so that I could re-paint the needles and put some carbon fiber vinyl on the trim piece. I painted the needles with some flourescent amber/orange paint so the needles can glow under some uv bulbs (still haven't ordered yet). I then took some 3M carbon fiber wrap that I had laying around and wrapped the trim.

Enjoy:

Ok so hope you liked it but if you don't, don't worry about it lol!! Next I went on to fix a failed attempt to due a complete interior color change from grey to black. I had already attempted to do this once using the Krylon Fusion for plastic paint. A little advise.....DON'T EVERY USE THIS SHIT!!!! Ok now that thats over I can proceed. If you are going to paint the interior of your car only use products from a company called SEM. You can only buy this stuff at automotive paint supply places. This stuff works wonders, I bought the Laudau Black and everything I painted looks like it came from Honda black!!! Anyway I'm almost done with the interior but I'm having to wait on my headliner, sunvisors and center arm rest. As we all know the back upper plastic pieces all play a role in holding up your headliner so I'll just have to wait. I'm getting the headliner, sunvisors and center arm rest all done in black suede with red stitching for the low ($110.00) and they do great work!!! Will post pics when its done. Anyway I ended up buy 4 guages (Depo) to help me monitor my engine so I made a custom gauge holder out of acrylic but I ended up breaking it when I went to drill the 4th hole. Good thing for me my wife is the shiznat with CAD and we have a laser cutter. It took me 2-3 hours to make a gauge holder that ended up breaking. It took my wife about 10 minutes, ain't that some bull shi!. Anyway hope you guys like as I've gotten tons on compliments on it even though we're still working out the kinks to get that perfect fit. I ended up moving my radio and taking out that coin tray that sits next to the radio to run all 4 gauges all the way across.

Krylon Fusion crap, this is what you'll end up with:

Picked me up a pair of Delsol seats that just need some touching up, I've pulled that fabric off of the passenger side seat so that I can re-attach the fabric to the foam with some 3M fabric adhesive!!

More sex with the gauges!!:

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/TFS_8578.jpg

Now if some of you guys are wanting something like this gauge holder that is made to fit perfectly for YOUR vehicle (not that egay universal crap) let me know. I've got several friends that are letting me use their cars to mock up these block off/gauge holders for their year civics. So far were making these for the 88-91 civic, 92-95 civic, 96-98 civic, 99-00 civic single and double din sizes, 94-01 integra single and double din sizes, 02- up RSX, Honda Prelude and others coming soon. And the best part is say you only want a holder that can hold one or two gauges, but your car is boosted and you can't find a good place to mount you electronic boost controller or turbo timer and such. I'm currently getting the dimensions for all the popular electronics to include Greddy, Apexi, HKS, etc, etc. After I get these dimensions I will be able to cut out gauge holders that can also accomodate your electronics for a very clean look. Best part is I'm going to be selling these anywhere from $20.00- $30.00!!! Let me know what you want, I've included some pics of some of the R&D thats going into these things to get that perfect fit. I also recorded a video of the laser cutter in action, it's pretty nice that I'll post up as well. I'm going to try and have some of these on hand this weekend as I may ride out to Barrett Pkwy, so if you want to see one in person or buy one I'll be there.

I just bought a huge sheet of black acrylic that I'll be using to make these, so the default color will always be black not clear lol.

Hope you liked the car, stay tuned as there is a lot more to come!!

Got the steering wheel off of egay lol!! It was like 40 with hub. I'll probably end up buying a Nardi wheel if the interior turns out super nice!!! Other than that I'll keep it. Thanks for the compliments!! Gotta run real quick but I'm still going to post some vids.

Yeah I used a heat gun to apply the vinyl, takes a lot of practice and I still can't do it right lol. Drummerboy I'm sure that suede its nice, I can't wait until I get mine back (they need to hurry)!!

Again thanks for the comments. I can't wait until this interior is done so that I can start on the outside. Quick question for everybody; my car is currently black and I'm torn between two colors when I do a all over paint job. The colors would be painting it back black (would be the easiest as I wouldn't have to paint the jams or engine bay) or paint it Ultrasonic Blue Metallic (Lexus ISF) paint color? What you guys think?

So you think black, I've been going back and forth between these colors for a while now. Most likely black is what I'll end up sticking with, would be a hell of a lot easier. Also quick update:had a little issue while driving on the highway yesterday. Some of my bolts on my turbo manifold where it bolts to the turbo started to do the jig and decided they didn't want to stay for the after party lol!! Ok sorry about that anyway 3 of my 4 bolts unbolted themselves even though I had a decent amount of thread locker on them. Man did I get lucky, but after a trip to the hardware store my problem is fixed and gave me just enough excuse to just go ahead and buy a Slowmotion Ramhorn manifold. So hopefully by Tuesday I'll be sportin a new manifold and 3" down pipe FTW!! Also I'll be on the look out for some cams and valve train. As always thanks for the compliments!!

Little quick update:

My Ramhorn (Slowmotion Motorsports) just arrived in the mail yesterday. Looks pretty good, going to get in on sometime next week. Only reason why I'm waiting is because I just ordered a tweaked Precision t3 60-1 with a stage 5 wheel today and it won't be here until next week. Very excited about the turbo, Jesse and Usedturbo.net custom built the turbo for my particular setup. He is messing with the inducer wheels and stuff like that to give me a quicker spool up but also maintain a free flowing with very little back pressure for the high lift cams that are coming. With everything that he is doing to it, its going to flow closer to a GT35 with less back pressure than your typical 60-1. I'm going to do a complete write up on all of it. I also am going to have some cams and a complete valvetrain coming some time soon. I'm going to do a complete write up on all of that as well. Stand by for pics of the ramhorn, bought it used and got a good deal on it!!

Got the manifold put on today and even got a chance to clean up the engine bay a little. Was able to relocate some wiring, vacume lines and removed the cruise control. Found out yesterday that my turbo will be here next Thursday, but in the mean time check out a couple of photos.

I just took some pics of my gauge holder that is finally out of R & D (pics are in the first post). I'm very happy with it, took a while because there are two different angles on each side where the gauges are located. I think we were able to get it almost perfect. The holes in the gauge holders were cut to 52mm. After test fitting all the gauges in we were finally able to get a snug fit on the the gauges without having to use any shims or anything. I even turned it upside down and none of the guages moved or acted like they wanted to slide back out (very happy). Another important note was after installing the new holder in the dash there was an even amount of spacing between the dash and the gauge holder, each gauge and from top to bottom. As mentioned in the first post the default color on these holders will be black 1/4" acrylic. I went with the 1/4" because it needed to have enough depth and thickness to fit flush in the dash where the factory radio and coin tray were. When looking at the photos keep in mind that its installed in a 1997 civic ex, I have 4 gauges where a radio and coin tray used to be with plenty of room to spare. Also remember that if you wanted one of these I can do them in almost any configuration whether it's 1-4 gauges, 2 guages and a turbo timer and an electronic boost controller, etc,. I'm still working to get the exact measurements of all the popular boost controller, turbo timer and even apexi for there vafc/afc line. I'm doing this so that you can now have all your gauges and electronics in one central, clean location thats easily accessible with a quick glance while driving down the road. If you have any questions about any of it, shoot me a pm and stay tuned, got plenty in the works like (S2000 gauge cluster into ek/eg civic adaptor kit, other gauge holders for other cars and a whole lot more). And as always thanks for the compliments and feel free to offer suggestions that might make it better!

Pics as promised:

Pic of the gauge holder not installed yet. These holders are cut with a precision laser cutter so that duplication and a snug fit is effortless. Again this one was cut out of 1/4" acrylic, in the future I will also be offering holders that are 3/16" thick, as some applications won't need such a thick piece.

Holder installed with no guages inserted, look at the space between the holder and the dash, doesn't really get any better than that. Ok it could have but dang this is the first one lol!!!

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/TFS_8908.jpg

With one gauge installed, achieved an almost perfect snug fit around the gauge itself.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/TFS_8912.jpg

This pic is with all 4 gauges installed, look at how flush they all fit. Even with my particular gauges having a hood to block sunlight the gauges are all flush with the top of holder and not hanging off.

Another view.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/EJ8%20Civic%20Build/TFS_8914.jpg

Everything installed, check out the spacing between each gauge as it is an equal distance between them all. Also after achieving such a snug fit with the dash, only a couple of pieces of heavy duty velcro are needed to secure the entire holder. This holder will not budge!!! I've been using the same two pieces of velcro on 4-5 different prototypes and its still holding strong!

Hell yeah for the new turbo, very excited!!

Specs:

It is a Precision 60-1, but it was put together with a stage 5 wheel and .82 a/r hot side with a 60 trim 60 a/r compressor side. I needed a combination that would be high flowing and relieve as much back pressure as possible because I'm going to be running high lift cams. I'm going to do a full review on it once its installed. I purchased it from Jesse at usedturbos.net (760) 721-7669, make sure you ask for him (Jesse). I was very pleased from the very beginning because they rebuild turbos and include a one year warranty on all of them. The best part is, is that I paid just over $500.00 for this turbo and it came with the same warranty that I would have gotten if I bought it brand new directly from Precision or one of their distributors but for alot less! So it was a pretty easy decision for me, plus if you have a question (I had plenty) Jesse was more than happy to answer them. Now I'm not saying that he will do this for everyone (because the man has to work lol) but I was on the phone with him for about 20 minutes talking about my particular setup and what I was trying to achieve. By the end of the conversation we settled on the 60-1 with the stage 5 wheel and .82 a/r turbine housing. A few days later and it shows up on my door step, can't wait till tomorrow so I can get this on!!! Here are some pics:

Let me know what you guys think, check out their website. Their website is easy to navigate because you can select how much power you want to make and it will pull up the turbos that will work. Remember even after you pick one give him a call if you want to make changes or have any questions. Hope you like it and I will update this tomorrow with the in car driving impression video..........hopefully!

Well got the new turbo put on today, ran into a couple of issues but we got everything worked out and it turned out nice. Ended up having to make a downpipe flange (4 bolt), and then the rest of the downpipe. As far as the difference in how it drives is night and day. My previous setup was a cast iron log manifold with a t3t4 50 trim turbo and a 2.5" downpipe. I would see full spool at around 3500 rpm and because of the back pressure with this setup my torque curve was nice and broad. This setup is really nice for dd and for the person that wants to stay conservative with their tune and power goals (under 400hp). I liked this setup because it felt like there was always power on tap whether you were at 3000 rpm or in 5th gear cruising and you needed to pass somebody without having to downshift!!

Now with the new setup I have a ramhorn manifold and a 60-1 turbo .82 a/r hot and 60 trim cold and a 3" dowpipe. I picked this setup because I'm wanting to run a higher lift cam and make the same mid 300hp with less boost= more effecient. Because of my want to run the higher lift cams I had to reduce the amount of back pressure after the exhaust cam. Going to a ramhorn manifold, a larger (.82 a/r) turbine housing and a 3" downpipe achieves this perfectly.

First Drive:
Like stated earlier the difference is night and day, instead of full spool at 3500 rpm, I'm at full spool around 5600 rpm (right at vtec engagement). I can tell that a little bottom end (torque) has been loss, but with the addition of higher lift cams I should be able to get some of that lag and torque back (closer to maybe 5000 rpm spool up). Even though I was expecting this drastic difference I was still thrown off a little, but I will tell you one really, really good advantage. Because I'm not reaching full spool until around 5600 rpm, I can stay out of boost when I'm just put putting around town which= better gas mileage. Just on one tank of gas I went from an average of around 24 mpg to 28.3 mpg. Another great advantage is when this turbo finally spools man oh man is it nasty, I have a 6lb wastegate spring in right now and it feels like when I was running at 10lbs of boost with the smaller turbo!!! Freakin Nasty!! Ok sorry back to the great gas mileage lol- I'm going to keep tabs on it but I was able to go a substantial amount of miles more than normal.

A couple of things that I'm trying to keep in mind as far as the cams go is I'm wanting to make sure that the primary and secondary cam lobes are going to be a little larger than the current GSR cams that I'm running now. This will aid in reducing lag and hopefully getting my torque back up there a little. I'm trying to not just get tunnel vision on the max amount of lift (vtec lobe) that the cam is going to give me, I want it all!!

I'm planning on trying to do some videos of some driving impression on Sunday, if I'm able to do it I'll try to edit it really quick and get them up. Then that way for some of the guys that prefer videos (like I do) you can physically see what I'm talking about.

Stay tuned....pics:

As the title states I've gotten to a point with the rest of my build where I can take a break and start some much needed body work. DISCLAIMER: The last time that I did anything that was body/paint oriented was back in high school (12-13 years ago). So I'm scared as hell, but I'm going to go for it anyway.

Anyway I'm still a little undecided on the exact color that I'm going to paint my car, and I'm going to leave it up to everyone on various forums to decide for me. I'm going to let you guys decide because I'm tired of thinking about it lol! Now on to the choices!!

The stock color:
Granada Black Metallic Clearcoat NH-503P
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Civic%20Paint%20Colors/CIMG2715.jpg

OR

Montego Blue Metallic (e90 BMW's)
This color flip flops like a mother, so I posted more that one photo so you can see the many shades of this color.

Direct Sunlight, nice mix of colors (light purple, light blue, dark blue, electric blue)
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Civic%20Paint%20Colors/DirectSunlight.jpg

Purple Tinted (around dusk)
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Civic%20Paint%20Colors/PurpleTint.jpg

Close up:

Low light:

Night shot (artificial light):
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Civic%20Paint%20Colors/LowLight.jpg

The Montego Blue Metallic happens to be my favorite color, however that would mean more work as in door jambs, trunk, etc. So those are the two choices, let me know what you guys think.

Now I've already started on the car, I've included some photos of some of the supplies that I needed, as well as some sanding, body filler shots to be scrutinized. ATTENTION: calling all those who are experienced with body work!!! I'm going to need your help as I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions and I am open to advice/constructive critisism.

This is not intended to be a diy or anything but I am going to list the things that I've done in order with pics.

Ok on to the body work:
The first pics show when I went around my car and identified every single ding, dent, crease, fold and fat person. In all I think I circled over 100 issues!! If I found a ding or dent I would circle it indicating a low spot, if I found a high spot I would still circle it, but I would also put an X over the high spot.
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9872.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9871.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9870.jpg

Ok a little rundown on the supplies needed to sand and use body filler. First up is sanding, I needed a variety of different types of sand paper.
40 Grit: for sanding around various dents and dings. This paper needed to be very coarse so that I could get all the way to the metal.
80 Grit: used for after you use the body filler and now need to sand. Its basically so that you can knock down some of the high spots and roughly get the desired shape that your looking for.
220 Grit: this one will be used after you got the rough shape that you were looking for with the 80 grit. I also used this grit to featheredge the edges so that it blends with the un-body filled areas.
320 Grit: I used this to sand the rest of the body where no body filler was used. This is the grit that I'm going to use before applying my 2k filler primer.

From left to right, 40 grit, 80 grit, 220 grit and 320 grit (really cheap, maybe $4 a piece)
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9899.jpg

Now some sanding, again I used the 40 and 80 grit sand paper to get all the way to the metal. You'll notice that even though I had the dings and dents circled, after sanding to the metal it made the same dings and dents very apparent which helps!
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9893.jpg

Other supplies:
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9890.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9897.jpg

In this pic if you look towards the center of the circle you will see some very small ding marks. This is from where I had a high spot and I used a body hammer to lightly tap it below the surface of the hood so that I could use body filler to make is smooth.
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9895.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9878.jpg

Now after the sanding I wiped down the entire hood really good with a degreaser, wax remover stuff. After it dried it was time for body filler. I would recommend that you follow the directions on the can of body filler as they will tell you the ratio of body filler to hardner and how long to wait before sanding!!
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9889.jpg

Time for mixing:
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9949.jpg

After mixing was complete:
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9960.jpg

Now time for spreading which should come immediately after mixing is complete. According to my instructions on the can I only had about 3-4 minutes to get the body filler on the car before it started to harden up on me. I waited the suggested cure time of 20 minutes before applying more layers of body filler.
http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9971.jpg

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/Body%20Work%20and%20Paint/TFS_9978.jpg

So today was much, much better. I was able to use air tools and it made everything much easier. I was able to finish sanding the hood and also I was able to finish about 90% of the passenger side!! I say 90% because I have about 3 spots that I have to add another layer of body filler. I also have to pull off my side moldings, sand them and touch up a couple of spots. After that I'll continue to the rear and passenger side. I'm hoping to have all the body work done on Saturday. If all goes well I will be shooting some primer on Sunday, we'll see. Anyway I have some pics. Everyone keep chiming in and voting on the color choice.

I took that advice and tried not to sand all the way to metal like I did before.

This area on the quarter panel took up most of my time today. There was an area a little bit bigger then a basketball that was dented in. Thanks to the wife she was able to crawl in the car and message it out almost completely. Other then that the previous owner of the car apparently scraped up against something very hard because as you can see in the pic below it dented/scratched the hell out of the quarter!!

Quarter Panel; there still is about 3 places that I have to touch up tomorrow but for the most part it came out pretty good for my first time, I'm pretty proud of it. I used the da on the flat surfaces but hand sanded all the areas that were jacked up! Let me know what you think.

Ok sorry guys been a bit of a rough week, however I did receive my new suede interior parts!! In all I had my headliner, sun visors and center console armrest done. It turned out very well and big shout out to Wilson's Upholstery for doing such a fine job! There has also been a change of plans. I've grown up drag racing since I was about 9 (jr dragsters) and up until now that was the only racing that I would ever consider doing. So I've decided to try my hand at some Auto X/Road Racing events. Luckily there wasn't to many parts that I have to change but I've already gotten started, but keep in mind that I will be daily driving this car on occasion. On the way is some custom rate Ground Control coilovers 450/430, ASR subframe, ASR rear sway bar, Wicked tuning rear toe adjusters, Energy Suspension kit, new inner and outer tie rods, 11.1" rear disc upgrade (S2000/EP3 setup) with HPS pads and solid rotors (already have HP+ up front w/12.2" rotors), steel braided brake lines all the way around and motul 600 brake fluid. Only problem is I haven't figured out which front camber adjustment setup that I'm going to go with yet. I want to make sure that its of pretty high quality. I'll post pics as stuff arrives and is installed. You guys wish me luck and on to some photos of the SUEDE!!

Can you believe I got all this done for $110.00? Talk about a hook up!

Ok so still making some good progress, the body work is about 90% done. Yesterday I was able to finish the driver's side, roof, both fenders and the front bumper. Because my tires are a little over sized I was having some issues with the front tires making contact with the fenders. Solution: I ended up trimming about a 1/2 inch from the passenger side and about 3/4 of an inch from the driver's side. I trimmed more on the driver's side to allow for the suspension settle when I'm in the car. I still have to remove all the trim, side view mirrors and the area under both tail lights. After this all the body work should be done and the car should be primed early Tuesday morning. I plan on blocking the car down throughout the week in preparation to spray the base coat and clear next weekend. Here's some updated photos.

Ok so I did mention earlier about me and the wife auto crossing and road racing together, but I did fail to mention that she just designed our new Scott Racing & Development Factory Shirts. They look freakin awesome, as they should because she's a graphic designer lol!! As we move up in road racing she is going to design all of our pit crew shirts, race suits and even the design/graphics on the race car. She has some kind of 3D program where she is currently designing the graphics that are going to go on the side of the car!! I know, I know I'm lucky as hell!! Check em out and let me know what you think, she did two designs, one all black shirt with gold lettering and one black and gold shirt with gold lettering. What you guys think?

Ok so today got a lot accomplished on the car (body work wise). The car is sitting in the paint booth as we speak!! All I have to do in the morning is tape a couple of things off, wipe down with a de-greaser and spray. When I got home I had a present sitting at the door....

Ok got the car primered yesterday, everything turned out pretty good. Everyone was right though, you won't notice any blemishes or spots you missed until you shoot some primer on it!! I'm still pretty pleased with it, I think I counted over 130 dings/dents in the beginning, yesterday after shooting the primer I have 8 spots that need to be addressed during the blocking phase.

Ok it's been a while but wanted to give a little update. Started doing a little sanding on the car today as well as ordering of several parts. I guess I'm trying to finish the engine, suspension, brakes and interior before I continue with the final step of paint (base coat/clear coat).

Ordered today:
Suspension:
ASR 24mm sway bar
ASR Subframe Brace
ASR spherical end links
New ball joints (upper and lower)
Inner tie rods
Outer tie rods
Energy Suspension end link kit
Energy Suspension front lower control arm bushings
Wicked Tuning toe adjusters
Wicked Tuning rear camber kit
New rear lower control arms

Brakes:
Fastbrakes 12.2" replacement front rotors
Fastbrakes 11.1" rear disc upgrade
Hawk HPS rear pads (ep3)
Russell steel braided lines (all four)
Motul 660 brake fluid (3 bottles)

Cooling:
Zap dual core radiator
14" 1900cfm radiator fan
Mishimoto Fan switch
Oil cooler with filter relocation

Now its time to do a little research on the following:
Traction bars
H brace
3 point strut tower brace (front upper)
Strut tower brace (rear upper)
Mugen pedals
Dual valve springs and retainers (to go with my pro 1 cams)
Re-tune

Hopefully I can have the research for the above items done soon so it can get ordered. Its crunch time!!

Just a quick little update:

Since my exhaust was broken I figured it was a good idea to address some other exhaust issues. My exhaust is already 3" that was fabricated and installed by Mainstream Performance, however the muffler that is on my car is a modified factory Honda muffler that I wanted to try out. This combination worked very well, as the exhaust note was extremely quiet and it flowed pretty good. However just to make sure the exhaust flows at its maximum I'm retaining the 3" exhaust but scrapping the modified muffler. In its place will be a 3" x 6" flex pipe (for the down pipe issue), 2 (two) Dynomax 24245 Race Bullet Resonators/mufflers with dimensions of: 3.5" inlet/outlet x 17.25" in length, and a N1 style muffler with silencer. Hopefully this combination will allow the engine to flow at it's absolute maximum and also stay on the quiet end. I do understand that it will not be super quiet like my modified Honda muffler, but it should be quieter than most (keeping fingers crossed) lol. I also was wanting to make sure that I maintained a straight through design throughout the entire exhaust this time around. Well thats it.

Got a little update:
Was able to get access to a welder and fix my down pipe. Got back to the shop and it bolted back up with no problems. I then had to make a new oil return line gasket to stop a leak that I've had for a while. After this I finally was able to test drive the car with the new suspension setup and all I can say is ......SIMPLY AMAZING!!! Its very nice and predictable/nuetral. Will be taking it to get an alignment hopefully on Tuesday at Honda and then I will be able to feel the full benefits of the newly added suspension components. After I got back from the test drive I checked my coolant levels again to make sure there was no air in the system, the new radiator, fan and fan switch are working out great!! I then turned my attention back to the body and started wet block sanding with guide coat. I started on the passenger side quarter panel and made my way up to the passenger door before quitting lol. I will say that the body is surprisingly straighter then I thought it was going to be, especially since this is my first time. I am very pleased with the results so far and look forward to getting the block sanding done by this weekend. Hopefully if everything turns out right I'll be posting some pics of the car with the base coat and clear sprayed on in the next couple of weeks, just have to see how everything works out. Anyway enjoy the pics and comment.

Ok been a long time but been pretty busy at work. Well about two weeks ago I noticed that I was breaking exhaust studs. I searched locally at some hardware stores with no luck on any replacements. I didn't want to just go back with oem so I started looking for the best price on the ARP exhaust studs. I think that the cheapest that I could find was around $120.00 plus shipping. Well I ended up finding them a little cheaper on accident! I was placing an order with Blueridge Motorsports for a a/c compatible ram horn turbo manifold and just thought that I'd ask. Well they beat the best price I could find on the net by ten dollars!! I didn't even have to pay for shipping!!

Well my manifold and studs arrived in the mail a couple days later and I couldn't be any happier. The quality and craftsmanship of this manifold is just simply superior!! I just can't believe the price point for the quality, Blueridge Motorsports could simply be just like everyone else and charge upwards of $1,000.00 very easily. I ended up catching them on sale and I paid $527.00 shipped. If you are remotely interested in a ram horn manifold, make sure you check Blueridge Motorsports out first!!

Now I'm sure everyone's thinking "just wait until you have to install that thing", especially since it's an a/c compatible manifold, bound to be some fitment issues. Well I have to tell you I was thinking the exact same thing. Well to my surprise I was wrong, it took some wiggling to get everything past my fittings that stick out from my valve cover (lazy ass), but once I got it past that it went right in. Now I did have to clock my turbo a little and played hell trying to get my oil feed line in but the fit is really, really good, like a glove. The only things I really had to change was a new fitting for my oil feed line, a longer oil return line and some minor changes with my charge piping. Got everything together including my new ARP studs and everything looks good. Oh by the way I used the two nut trick to get my old studs out and I would recommend getting them out before the engine cools all the way down.

Thanks alot for the compliment bro, finally got the manifold installed and my downpipe made. Had to make some adjustments to the charge piping, oil supply and oil return lines to get everything like it should. Going to get an a/c bracket and start mocking all the a/c components up so that I can finish my dump tube off of my waste gate. Everything is looking really good so far, was unable to really get on it any because of the weather. I was able to get on it a little bit in second gear, felt really responsive and had a noticeable change in pitch/sound from my previous manifold. I'm really happy with the results so far. Now I can hopefully get back on my body work and finish it and then on to the interior. Gotta get this done already lol!!

I know what you mean, i've been surprised in the past how much difference a manifold can make in the exhaust note & spool.

Your exactly right, going from a log manifold to a equal length was the biggest change in spool. My turbo used to spool up around 3000 rpm with the log, went up to about 6000 rpm with the equal length. At first I didn't really know if I was going to like it, but I had to stick with the equal length if I wanted to use my skunk2 pro 1's. Another benefit that I've noticed with the equal length is the gas mileage, I've been between 29-31 mpg. I'm guessing that this is because the turbo is not really spooling up as long as your not in vtec. It is really cool to have a hell of a kick at vtec crossover!! Thanks again for the compliment.

Well finally got some pics of the new manifold setup on the car. Like I said before I'm really pleased with the outcome. The car feels more responsive and I'm at full spool about 300-400 sooner which was a plus. Like I said before, if your in the market for a manifold check out Blueridge Motorsports, ask for Brandon.

Thanks bro for the compliment. Little update: Got the car primed again, had some issues with the spray gun so I bought some brand new ones. Because the old guns were acting messed up it made my primer feel like sand paper. All I had to do was lightly sand the surface with 180 grit to knock down the sand paper feel. Now all I'm going to do is go back over it with 400 grit (wet) and then I'll be ready for paint!! I'm very excited because I'm nearing the end!! Has taken me a while to get everything pretty straight, not perfect but much better then it was when I started. I'll be purchasing my base and clear coat on Friday and if everything goes well maybe spray on Saturday!! Wish me luck, check back for updates. Oh yeah I almost forgot, I ordered a p28 ecu with Hondata S300 w/ boost option, should be here next week.

Alright finally got some updates to share with you guys. I was able to get the rest of the car painted and cleared. I think everything turned out pretty good, no runs or sagging anywhere and it appears the the metallics were spread evenly. I'm going to wait for a sunny day so I can pull the car out and get a good look at it.

I was able to spray the base coat on Sunday and had to wait until today to spray the clear coat. It got too cold to fast when the sun went down on Sunday so I figured it would have been better to wait. The only problem that I found was I had the air lines that run to the paint booth hooked up to the wrong side of the air compressor. This made it to where there was way to much pressure coming to the spray gun. Because of this a lot of trash ended up in my clear coat, as all the dust was being stirred up. I've been doing a lot of research on color sanding and I've decided that I'm going to start with 1500 grit and work my way up in 500 grit increments all the way up to 3000 grit. Let me know what you guys think, I think that I should be able to get most of the trash out with color sanding and buffing. Thanks for the comments so far and I welcome any advice. Try to ignore the quality of the photos, I used my cell phone to take the pictures and there was still quite a bit of clear coat still floating around the paint booth lol.

I started with 1500 grit and then on to 2000 grit. I spoke with a friend of mine and was told that 2000 grit was more then enough before buffing. Let me know what you think. I would like to have the entire passenger side done by tomorrow, we'll see.

Had to do some leveling of the clear coat with a razor blade, had a couple of drips in the clear coat.

LMAO!! I ended up putting 4 coats of clear. After I got to my second coat of clear I noticed that I had a lot of trash in the paint, so instead of 3 coats like originally planned I through on an extra coat. Seems to be working out in my favor though. There is still some trash in the paint and it's going to stay there because its in the base coat and I'm not re-spraying it lol. Thanks for the props, skeet!!

Got a little sanding done today on the rest of the passenger side. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish the sanding and move on to buffing the rest of the car. Also installed my new catch can setup. Had to do a little modifying as the setup was intended for a eg shell, but everything came together nicely. Also installed some spacers on my hood, everything was going well until my hood fell, creasing one of the edges of the hood. No sweat though, if I have to get another hood its no big deal cause I think I striped it anyway when painting. Anyway on to the pics.

Just a little short video I made from Saturday. Was able to get my Supertech Valvetrain, Skunk1 Pro1 cams and my JG Engine Dynamics Cam Gears installed. Ran into a couple of issues though while on the dyno and had to cut my dyno session very short. My cylinder position sensor went out, so now I have to buy a new distributor and also my oil feed line started leaking like no tomorrow! It was really bad but I think I've got it fixed today (Christmas Eve) lol. Well after I fixed the oil leak today I was able to get a video of the idle. I've never tuned with Neptune before, but I've gotten the hang of it pretty quickly. Got my 1000cc injectors to idle at a solid 900 rpm's FTW!! I am pretty excited about that as anyone that has ever had 1000cc injectors knows that it's a pain in the @ss to get it to idle even half way decent. Well try to enjoy my shitty video!!

Got a couple of updates. Picked up some items to help with heat management. Wanted to work on this during the winter before the summer got here. So I picked up some DEI Reflect A Gold heat tape. DEI titanium heat wrap and some new lines for my oil feed and return. Also have the following on order: 70mm throttle body, turbo blanket, NRG quick release hub. Will have some more updates hopefully tomorrow, going to be fixing some oil leaks and installing my new oil lines and applying my heat wrap. Here's a couple of photos to tie everyone over.

Alright got a couple more updates for you guys. Today's theme was "oil leak day". I had oil leaking from my oil feed and return lines, my oil pan and my valve cover. So it was kind of a good thing because I wanted to upgrade my 5/8 oil drain line to the -10an fittings anyway. Started taking everything apart, oil pan, valve cover, down pipe and turbo. I was able to swap out the oil feed flange that I had for a 1/8 npt to a -4 90 degree fitting. Then swapped out the oil drain for the -10an and welded the -10 bung on my oil pan. Ran into a problem when I got everything back together.......another oil leak, accept this time is was fresh oil that was leaking and it was still cold (engine was running). I moved the car a couple of times to make sure that it wasn't just oil that I hadn't wiped up yet and it wasn't. It ended up being my oil feed line. Apparently after you reconfigure an oil line so many times the inner parts will eventually give out. Well good thing I had plenty of spares laying around. Was able to get it fixed rather quickly. I then installed my DEI Titanium Heat Wrap, was pretty straight forward and looks pretty nice.

I'm going to be doing some testing on heat management to try and lower the overall under hood temperatures and reduce intake air temperatures using the reflect a gold, heat wrap and turbo blanket (thats still in the mail). I purchased two digital/cordless heat sensors with probes today so that I can do some before and after analysis. I'm going to start a totally different thread for this and I'll post a link in this thread. Anyway on to a couple of photos

Have a few updates. I was able to build my Cold Air Intake box for my turbo this past weekend. Came out pretty nice. I made a template out of card board and then went back and transferred the template to some sheet metal that I had. All I have to do now is purchase a 3" hole saw and weld some tabs for mounting. I'm also going to fab some 3" piping from the intake box to my turbo. This should lower both my charge piping temperatures and intake air temperatures for sure! The intake box and pipe will be wrapped in the reflect a gold heat tape after more data is taken.

Got the cold air intake box done today, forgot to take a picture after I ran to autozone and grabbed another coupler, but its on there. Not really sure if my mind is playing tricks on me but it does feel like the car pulls a little different. I'm pulling fresh air from the frame rail right now, but I'm eventually going to run a pipe to the existing fog light housing for even colder air. On to the pics (oh yeah I ran out of the gold heat tape) and don't laugh at my crappy welding. Will have some data very soon to document any changes in my IAT's.

It's to get cold air from the frame rail/front cowl area without the worry of hydro locking. Same idea of the stock air box. Just more efficient.

Sorry I haven't updated the thread in a while but I've been very busy at work. Anyway I have one week until Import Alliance is here so it's crunch time. I will have TONS of updates over the next week!! Right now I'm in the paint booth so I need to get off of here and go shoot my first coat of clear coat on the parts I just painted!! Stay tuned!!

Ok got a few updates. Got a lot of work done between yesterday and today. Well before I get to that of course I don't have much time before Import Alliance and the Welcome to Atlanta Show at Mainstream Performance next weekend so I've been pretty hard at it. I have several parts on order that should all be here by the middle of next week. Everything was going smoothly until while pulling into the gas station I ripped my front lip most of the way off and drove all the way home like that. Don't ask why I didn't check the front end after I heard the scrape.....oh well. So because the lip was messed up I decided to get a BYS Replica front bumper. To save some people from catching a period, I'm not putting a $1,300.00 front bumper on a car that is worth $2,000.00. It just doesn't make any type of sense, no offense or anything to the people that have bought the authentic one. Plus I'll just end up tearing it up anyway as I drive my car. So instead of my bumper having the sticker that says Backyard Special, I'm going to get some stickers made that will either say "Frontyard Special" or Yard Sale Special" haha. Here are some of the parts that I ordered:

BYS Replica front bumper
Window Visors
Wink Mirror
Sunroof Visor
Rear Window Roof Visor
Suede Shift Boot
Suede Arm rests
10lb Wastegate Spring
Ep3 rear disc brakes

Yesterday I was able to get a lot of parts prepped, painted and installed on the car:

Rear bumper
Side skirts
Door trim
License plate housing
Gas door
Grille

Parts that are prepped and waiting for me to get back to shoot some base coat on:

More door trim
Side view mirrors
Rear bumper lip

And that will be it as far as painting, on to some pics!

Well sorry everyone for not posting on here in forever but I do have some updates to share. I've gotten a lot accomplished in the last 3 months, been to some car shows, done some racing and tore up some shit! lol

Getting ready to go racing and to some car shows!!

Messed up my lip while at a High Performance Driving Event, but still managed to get a plaque at the car show lol!!

Then went on to the We Hungry Meet, had a good turnout although it was raining. My driver's side window is off the track so myself and the interior got soaked!!

Had a lot of fun this weekend, but after seeing some of the other nice cars that came out I knew that I needed to change things up a bit. Plus after going to another driving event I totally tore and ran over my front lip, so I had no other excuses.

So I started with my front calipers that were bland and not noticed, so I sprayed them a metallic gold/orangish color lol. Really matched my side markers that I also installed.

Then it was time to pull out the plasti dip and get to spraying.

Really brings out the color of the calipers and plus I was just tired of looking at polished all the time.

Next up was a projector retrofit that I had laying around the house for like 3 months lol. These were really nice, got them from the retrofit source in Atlanta Ga. Big shout out to the Liberatariate for answering all of my questions.

Then my new lip finally came in, is a Chargespeed Rep Lip. But I didn't just want to put a different lip on, I needed just a little bit more. I ended up after doing a little research on front splitters and winglets, started fabricating my own out of stainless steel. Really love the look of the front in now. The lip is still black for now, as I'm trying to see if it will grow on me. If it doesn't I will color match it to the rest of the car.

The next day I went to the car show that was intended for muscle cars only. I still entered my car because the money raised was for a good cause. Anyway I ended up placing in the top ten and took home a trophy. Got a lot of respect from the muscle car guys which was surprising.

Thats it for now, I think I'm leaving some stuff out but I can't remember off of the top of my head. Next up I plan on ordering some AMR Engineering coilovers, fabricate a rear diffuser (similar to the one that top one aero use to make) and some racing seats and cage.....I think lol. Thanks and hope you guys like it.

This was my first time actually trying to film something, especially a dirty car lol. I'm learning cinematography at the moment and this was just some practice clips that I through together. I was practicing using a 47" slider that I just purchased and some other tools. Still learning so be easy on me. I used Premiere Pro (CS5) for the first time to edit this video, so I'm still learning that too. Please like!

Ok time for a big update!! Got some really nice quality parts in from Top 1 Motors. I think I managed to buy everything that they make for my particular car. I was sweating bullets making sure I didn't miss the FedEx truck, as I had to sign for the stuff. Well once it got here I was blown away at the quality of their parts, especially when you consider the price. I definitely want to give a huge thanks and shout out to Chris and the guys over at Top 1 Motors, be sure to check them out next time your shopping for aero parts TOP1 MOTORS - HOME (http://www.toponemotors.com/). I purchased the following:

Front Splitter (type 1)
Front Bumper Canards (track spec)
Front License Plate Angler
Side Skirts (type 1)
Rear Diffuser
License Plates (x2)

I pretty much have everything installed already, took me about 3-4 hours with the help of some buddies. I wanted to make sure everything lined up properly so it took a little longer. Overall the fit and finish of these products were second to non, I would recommend them to anyone.

Front Splitter:

I have a huge update. Over the past month or so I've been very busy with the car, especially over this holiday vacation. I ended up adding a five point harness, harness bar, new vibrant exhaust, wire tuck, fuse box tuck, battery relocation, carbon kevlar hood, carbon kevlar trunk and made a new catch can with new black fittings and lines. I've been busy lol.

Here is a pic of the car before I got started, I ended up peeling the plasti dip that was on the passenger side off of the wheels. Now all of the wheels are polished again.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/2014-12-15231431_zps112b911d.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/2014-12-15231431_zps112b911d.jpg.html)

First thing that I started with was the adding of some five point harnesses and a harness bar.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20140921_131132_zps8cd96a91.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20140921_131132_zps8cd96a91.jpg.html)

Then I wanted my exhaust to be a little quieter so I went to my buddies over at EBTEC and had them hook me up with a Vibrant muffler. Man do I love how quiet it's gotten since then. Put it this way my engine/camming is louder then the exhaust now and I love it. I had the guys add a little turn down to the tip for that extra little flare, came out perfect!

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141212_183443_zps0179b5b1.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141212_183443_zps0179b5b1.jpg.html)

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141212_192905_zps376d2662.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141212_192905_zps376d2662.jpg.html)

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141212_192927_zps0ec0ccff.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141212_192927_zps0ec0ccff.jpg.html)

After the exhaust I had been looking long and hard for a carbon/kevlar hood and trunk. Luckily some of the guys at EBTEC remembered a post of one for sale online. I got in touch with the guy and he still had both the hood and trunk so I scooped them up. Man is it nice and extremely light. I was told that the hood and trunk that I have is one of a very few in the U.S. so I guess that's pretty cool. Sneak peak pic, better photos coming soon!

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/2014-12-28183341_zps2e03dcba.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/2014-12-28183341_zps2e03dcba.jpg.html)

I had been putting off doing a wire tuck for a very long time, mainly because of the horror stories that I've heard about people really messing their cars up due to not doing it correctly. Plus I'm lazy and just didn't want to do it. Well I got a wild hair about a week ago and just dove right in. I ordered my braided sleeving and shrink tube from wirecare.com. After it arrived in the mail I got started. I started with the headlight harness, as everyone had stated that it is the easiest and provides the most yield as far as looks go. It went pretty smoothly and before I knew it I was done. After completing that I started messing around with the fuse box and figured out that it unplugs from the bottom. Now this was my big question; why do people cut all of the wires that lead to the fuse box when relocating it under the dash? Doesn't make any sense to me, I just simply unplugged the harness and fed the plugs through the fire wall. After doing that I wanted to mount the fuse box inside the passenger air bag compartment but realized that my head is too big to fit between the windshield and dash in the event I had to troubleshoot anything inside of the fuse box. So I mounted the fuse box inside of the glove box. After mounting it I trimmed the glove box until it was pretty much cut in half. I then took the end piece that was cut off and plastic welded it to the remaining pieces of the glove box that was still attached. This worked out very well as I still can store important documents while making a new home for the fuse box. I really like how it came out. The wire running from the alternator that connects to the fuse box was just barely long enough to still screw in to the fuse box. I had to extend the positive wire that runs from the battery quite a bit, as I relocated the battery to the trunk using a battery relocation kit from Taylor. I then went ahead and cleaned up the engine harness, stripped off all the old wire loom and electrical tape, eliminated plugs that I no longer use, shortened/lengthened some wires and finally reloomed everything. I really like how everything came out.

As I got started

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141223_213507_zpsa212c010.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141223_213507_zpsa212c010.jpg.html)

After pulling the headlight harness out

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141223_213444_zps52c9b066.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141223_213444_zps52c9b066.jpg.html)

Man it was a sea of wires, at this point I felt that I was in over my head lol!

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141223_220302_zps2a289ec9.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141223_220302_zps2a289ec9.jpg.html)

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141223_220626_zps736f799f.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141223_220626_zps736f799f.jpg.html)

Pulled the harness plug through a hole that is already used for the wiring that runs to my doors and after running the harness around the outside of the engine bay I was done.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141224_001535_zps51ba16b1.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141224_001535_zps51ba16b1.jpg.html)

Now it was time to find a suitable place for my fuse box and I found it in the glove box.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141224_113644_zpsbabdef5d.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141224_113644_zpsbabdef5d.jpg.html)

After cutting and then plastic welding my glove box back together, came out pretty good.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141224_142327_zps717650a2.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141224_142327_zps717650a2.jpg.html)

This is after everything was pretty much done. I was unable to reloom the large bundle of wires in the braided sleeving, as I didn't order the correct size to do it with. I have another solution for this just have to wait for it to come in the mail.

http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n588/BLACKOUT1/20141227_153409_zpsae7462c1.jpg (http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/BLACKOUT1/media/20141227_153409_zpsae7462c1.jpg.html)

After completing the wire tuck I didn't want to put my catch can back in it's original place (right over the driver's side motor mount) so I sold it and made a simpler and smaller one that it now mounted up against the radiator support, nicely tucked out of the way. It came out pretty nice, I like the black fittings with the black hoses.

Now the only thing that's next is to send my intake manifold, turbo manifold, valve cover and intercooler piping to a buddy of mines at Coatings MD, to have him coat everything in gloss black. After that I'm going to paint the bay but I'm not sure if I just want to go back with black or pearl white. Thanks for checking everything out, hope everyone likes the progress.
