I think it's an arguably weak indicator of wealth, but without a doubt unreliable indicator of wealth.

I hear ya one that one. Nothing wrong with a household income of over $200k a year and driving some older used vehicles. I drive an 04 F150 and the wifey drives an 09 Tahoe. Neither of which have been owned since new.
