I don't think I ever posted pictures here since I don't get on here much anymore, but we ran the Neon at the "American Road Race of Champions" this past November at Road Atlanta in the 3 hour ECR enduro as well as Thursday's test day.

I didn't get the result I hoped for in the race but had a blast. Sadly I sold the car shortly after (big mistake) to someone up north, he had it shipped, but will hopefully have a replacement towards the end of the year.

I'm guessing EA is that generation Civic? They're pretty quick, they use to be one of the car's to have in ITC and still are competitive.

Yes sir... the Civic! I wanna get one of em one a these days...

What website should I go to so I can look into getting into some races myself? Like specific car class/mods/restrictions etc.?

My buddy has a 01 Ford ZX-2 he wants me to hook up for him so we can road race it.
He's kinda a ricer, wanting to go turbo and body kits LOL I have been telling him just to buy suspension/brakes/wheels-tires etc.
But I don't know anything bout what class or whatever specs we should go by????

Depends what you want to do. The SCCA and NASA both have classes for almost anything. The best thing to do is decide on a class then buy a car, buying a car is MUCH cheaper and easier than building your own.

Read the SCCA GCR at www.scca.org under Club Racing and the NASA CCR. Those are the official rule books for each group.

As with any racing though finding a class is a must before building a car, a simple mod could throw you in a faster class where you wouldn't want to be. I'd also recommend if you insist on building a car getting it legal first (cage, seat, harness, fire equipment, etc) and getting a logbook, get the car reliable, get the very basics, and get seat time. High dollar modifications are useless if you can't get the most out of them. Track days are another option if you just want to get on a road course but don't want the required safety equipment and extra drama involved with wheel to wheel.

At least you got to run it before you sold it. My IT7 car is gone and I never used it.

That sucks, why not? Get something else! I'm aiming at another Miata for ITA, so hopefully I won't without another for long. The logic behind why I sold it made sense...or so I thought. lol

I wish IT7 was still a good class, they're SOOOOOOOO cheap to build/buy/run.

Hind sight and all that..... Simply not enough time and money. New project is on they way and should be an interesting build for all to watch. Then stick it on a track and make people double take haha

Makes me miss mine. I always wanted to go to Solo I and run on track, but it didn't come to be.

I lived, vicariously, through you, Simon, lolol. Later, QD.

Good stuff! I'd still like to get out on a track one of these days. I dabbled in solo II back in college and always intended on getting more into it and doing track days and such once I got out and had a full-time salary. Alas, it's pretty much fallen to the wayside.

You can do track days cheap, it's worth every penny no matter what you're driving.

My co-driver was only running 1:54s but dropping, then he had a mistake and when I got in the car it wasn't well so right around there, I think it could easily do 1:48-1:49s as it was. It was all stock minus tires, brake pads, front sway bar, and intake/exhaust.

Hell yea man! Thanks... That's what I was thinking, I should look up some classes see whats up and let my buddy know whats up.
Cause that's what I was telling him... that certain things we do to the car may not be legal/may put us in a class we won't be able to keep up in lol
I've told him about some open track days... That's what I'm trying to push him to do first so he can really get a feel for racing in the first place

Those are just a few groups that have track days, SCCA PDX is only $100 when they run during club race weekends at Road Atlanta, you only get 40 minutes of track time but that's enough to really get a feel for things or have some fun, you start with an instructor in all of those and move up to solo.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
