I take it this is going in a 240 correct and the sr20det is stock.
1 sr20vet is best of all
2 ka24det is better because it came in the car boost it until it blows power comes on quick if you build it then you can have a monster.
3 sr20det is a waste of time until you open it up and then your better off going with a VE T setup. My allmotor Ve will walk away from this thing.

Sorry didnt answer your ?
1 The head design on the VE is far superior to the DE it outflows it in every way and it has valve timing you will see a 50 to 75hp power difference on the same amount of boost pressure.
2 Why spend 1200 on a whatever top red or black when you can just turbo the ka stock for stock the ka-t is going to be faster the power comes on early with way more tq than the sr.
3 I just explained why.
Hope it helps

True, but I heard a couple of SR's will pull a premium a week before import face off.

KA

Pros:
Displacement
Better designed head
400whp on stock rods, crank
Offer nistune, safc, cheaper motor, lots of torque.
Cons:
Shitty stock head gasket
shitty pistons
shitty intake manifold
not factory turbo'd

SR20det-
Pros:
Factory Turbo
Decent Power
Cheap tuning Safc, or nistune, power fc etc
Cost around same as KA-T
Make 350 whp with minor mods (turbo,hg,headstuds, rockers, tuning etc)

Cons:
Shitty head design (rockers shoot out)
VERY abused usually
Shitty Headgasket
Shitty design oil pan (minor dent and its a wrap)
Parts can be harder to get ahold of

These are off the top of my head, and from experience.

depends on where you start, and purpose of the car.
If you start with a shell doesn't matter which motor
If you start with a ka de and its a cost issue turboing the ka is chea
