Scientific logic, my man. With today being Monday, yesterday was Sunday, a couple of days ago was Saturday and a few days/several days ago was Friday. Thursday would fall in the "several days ago" category as the term several doesn't specifically designate the number three. Friday falls more into the "few days ago" realm as the word few is closely associated with the number three. Tuesday would be "almost a week ago" and Monday would be considered an actual week ago. Since it is clear that all the days of the week have been represented in their numerical state for this topic, then it's to no wonder that "the other day" is going to be Wednesday.
