So I drive a '96 Honda Civic EX with a D16Y8 engines. It has an aftermarket intake and roughly 254000 miles. Now that you have the background here is the problem.

On occasion when I am on the highway I will try to accelerate but my RPM's go up with no acceleration. It is almost like my clutch is engaged but it isn't. In short, my engine revs up but there is no acceleration.

I also have an issue when I first get going, my car will get to about 3000 RPMs and it just bogs down. It does this all the way through 3rd gear.

Any Ideas on what may be going on?

Could be clutch slipping or TPS issue

Throttle position sensor is faulty or bad...

the revving and no acceleration sounds like a slipping clutch.
no idea about the second one.

I was also told it could have something to do with a cracked/leaking vacuum hose? Any thoughts?

At a dead stop, put your car in 3rd or 4th gear and try and start off. if you can get completely off the clutch pedal and it not stall, your clutch is toast!

On a MAP sensor car a vacuum leak wont cause a loss of power (as long as the MAP is on the throttle body like a y8)
