from what ive been told yes. Are you inquiring about credit cards or are companies sending you stuff? If you are sent something then you will qualify as long as it was sent directly for your name. And read carefully!!!

For credit cards you are correct. You can shop different companies for loans such as for a car or house and all inquiries over a 30 day period are only counted as 1 and ot has very little, if any, effect on your score.
