So I've decided to get me a newer car (finally) after 4 yrs of debating and I've decided to pick me up something I've always wanted. I'll add a link to Autotrader for you all to check out. But I believe I got a great deal.

Car listed at this dealer at $8995, I low-balled the dealer and requested $8400, got the price I asked for and with tax and fees it totals to $9275. 03 Accord EX-L V6 6spd, 133k in white. I personally believe I found this at a great price, but all, educate me if you have anything. 3yr loan thru my credit union at 6.75%.

I'd add a pic, but the corp firewall hates it.

Duh, I can get a newer Accord 4cyl for 11,999 also. Auctioning is a different class, this is a dealer purchase. I think I did pretty good for this particular car. This model year and engine/trans setup runs around 11 also. The 07's are still worth about 16k for whatever reason. Did you click the link?? I personally think I came out well.

It's a nice car, I don't think you got a screaming deal but I don't think you got completely ripped either. But don't worry about what everyone thinks, if you like the car and you're happy with the price you were able get it for just enjoy it.

You're comparing wholesale to retail pricing and also comparing the Cincinnati market to the Atlanta market I'm guessing. There's a lot of variables between Atlanta auction prices and Cincinnati retail pricing. Not everyone has the ability to go to an auction, and dealers don't sell cars for what they pay for them at auction.

its average for what someone would pay at a dealership.

it just sucks that they put as little as possible into the cars, and make SOO much on each one.

also, "lowballing" 500$ on a 9k car isnt "lowballing"

shold have requested 7k , and him say, "i could probably ge you out hte door around 8200, but that would be it" and then your happy. they are making soo much money already, and want to make a sale, they usually will negotiate

I call bullshit on this.. I'f its true, I would like to know what auction this was at. I frequent auctions, first, rarely see these gen of accords and they usually never sell due to people low balling as hell.

$8400 is not a bad deal, however is not a great deal either.. Honestly, your $$$. Who cares. Enjoy the car. Is a nice ride.

Lol.. If I ever see an accord like this one at an Auction for 4k will jump on it and leave them a couple of hundred dollars tip..lol 4k.

113k for an 03 for 9200 seems like a lot.

2006 tl 87k for 13000, much more car than the 03 accord.

Seems like you paid top dealer price, its prob more like a 6000-7000 car at auction.

I'd have bought from a person to save taxes

They go for 4k wrecked at the salvage auction! I Had a dealers licence and a salvage/rebuilders licence. I always find it funny when people make coments about how cheap cars are at the auctions! I have i got a few great deals yes but they are few and far between! It would literaly make alot of low balling Ia members sick to there stomach when they see what some wrecked totaled cars with a salvage title really goes for! There was a post about a guy who wrecked his 2000 civic si for example and there was a stupid post of just let them total it and buy it back for 500$ bucks yeah right like the insurance company is going to pay out 7k and sell it back to him for 500 bucks lol!

I have bought and parted out several 99-00 civic si's yeah some sale for 500 bucks they are the theft recoverys that there is nothing of value left on them and they are the most common! The cheapest I ever got a wrecked one was 2000$ NOT INCLUDING AUCTION fees which are a few hundred bucks! It was a total and not even close to fixable!

I supose its just the thinking that everyone else is getting rich lol And it boils down to the dealer mark up is not near what people think it is alot of dealer are happy to make 500 to 1000 on a car! Might sound like a lot to some but the dealers do have a tone of over head that goes along with it ! Insurance/ bonding/ rent/ utilitys and you always end up putting money into every car you sale! No dealers drive them from the auction to the lot!

I think average used car markup is 20%, so a 8500 car they probably have 6600-7000 UN it after buy, transport reco etc

I sold my 2007 SE-V6 with 50K miles on it for $12,500, and that's all that they were selling for. People would list them for more, but what they were actually going for was about $13k. An '03 with that many miles for $9200 doesn't seem like a superb deal.
