gsr rebuild

Helping a friend build a b18c1, put acl rod and,main cap bearings in and the crank doesn't wanna turn he thinks its binding up. I torqued them down to spec but he thinks something is too tight. Some help me out pls lol

Sounds like wrong sized rod bearings..Had the same problem few weeks ago.

He said acl rod bearings come in only one size?

They might, thats just the prob we had. Believe we were using kings. Make sure the mains are the correct size while were on this subject.

Make sure the rod bearings are for a gsr. the rod bearings are different from a gsr to an Ls/b20. Torque down the crank without the rods at different amounts of torque from start to finish. You should be able to rotate the crank easily by hand with oil on the bearings. If the bearings have oil holes in them they aren't for a gsr. If you start torquing down the rod bearings and then it won't turn you've found your problem. Either that or you got the wrong size bearings. DON'T TURN A HONDA CRANK DOWN!!!

i know you didn't mention anything about taking out piston rings and rod out of the block but if ya did check to see if the ring has drop off the piston and stuck at the bottom of the piston, happen to me while taking a d-series apart. this will also stop the crank from turning.

There's no pistons or rods in the block yet so I'm sure that ain't the prob. As for the mains, they're spot on. Crank spins freely. The rod bearings don't have the oil holes and the box says it's for a b18c1. So I'm thinking wrong bearings

I had same problem. Come to find out they where LS bearings. I would put money on wrong bearings.

Plasti gauge don't work if they are LS bearings. I plasti gauge mine and it came out fine. But Franck was super tight. Measure how wide your old bearing to the new ones. LS bearings where a little wider.

The tang on the bearing is different in location from the gsr to the Ls bearing so it makes them bind when tightened up. So figure it out OP

He's taking it to a shop to make sure but I'm positive on wrong bearings even tho the package said gsr
