So, my car is going to be finished soon and the bike will be going under the knife. One of the things it needs will be tires but I have having a time picking a selection. I am looking for a set with good tread wear and wet traction. Any recommendations?

i always rode michelin pilot powers. your bike is stretched so you won't being taking turns hard so the pilot powers ct2 would probably the best for you. they are a harder compound so they last longer, but they just take a little longer to get sticky.

I was looking at those and considered them. What about Shinko?

Ive never ridden shinko. i've had pilot power, pilot power 2ct, metzler, pirelli , Dunlop, bridgstone, and avon(300 tire). I almost wrecked on the metzler and bridgstone bc of it sliding out. I think shinko is a cheaper tire if i'm not mistaken but you get what you pay for and only riding on 2 wheels, I wouldn't take the risk. I actually liked the dunlop the next best but it depends on what your looking for. if i was in your shoes I would go with either pilots or dunlop. the harder the compound the less grip but more longevity. I say get whats a good deal, just not bridgstone or metzler.

I can get both tires new that are made by Shinko for $200 but as you said riding on two wheels isn't worth buying cheap shit. I had Diablo rosso tires on my ninja and they weren't too bad. I may look into the Michelin tires a little more.

My Michellin 2tc didn't hook for shit on my '02 and it was more or less 6" stretch and -1/+0. Maybe others have had better results, but I wasn't very impressed.

What about the Pilot Power 2?

Pilot Power 2ct on the street.

It will only see street use. I just want to find a pair of tires with decent wet traction for after-rain rides and good tread life.

EDIT: Well, I was reading up about a guy with a Bandit who got 9k miles out of his Shinko Ravens so I will try them out and for $200 for the pair that isn't too bad.

EDIT AGAIN: Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires aren't that much more than the Shinkos so I will go with those.

You will hate riding in the rain. It's bad enough when you get caught in it, but it really sucks.

I try my absolute hardest not to ride in the rain but the occasion sometimes catches me off guard. I think the Michelin PP 2CT will do good for me.

the 2ct aren't too bad after 5-10 min after riding once they warm up. so I think you should be happy with them. my first bike I owned was my only transportation and I tried alot of different tires and the pilot powers were hands down the best though they don't last as long as others.

Well I've put 6500 miles on my bike since I got it three months ago and between a Shinko front and battlax rear tire and both were used.

Q2's!!!! Omg, I have them on both bikes and loved them to death. If you're looking for long distance riding and not much leaning. Dunlop Road Smarts. I've gotton 16k out of a set.

2ct's for a nice mix of twistys and daily riding.

Q2's if you don't do much daily, and alot of twisty.

Conti Road Attack for a daily tire. We got 5k on a rear on the shop Busa. Still did OK in the turns as well. Road Attack 2 is supposed to be a nice mix of both, but I haven't tried it.

I put 6500 miles on the bike in four months so yeah a lot of daily will be had. I am looking at the Q2s now. I guess when it boils down to it, it doesn't really matter that much. I don't do twisties or high speed runs.

Ended up going with a Shinko Raven for now. Got it new for a good price.
