I figured out that I haven't posted any pictures of my car on here yet, so here's a couple of the best of them as she stands now:

Yea, I've had the thing for 2 years, and the only time I've been able to do stuff is during the summer because the rest of the time I'm at school. So more will be done in the future. At the same time, I hate the fact myself that it's still so stock looking.

Don't feel bad man, its taken me 6 years to get my lude to where I want it & finally boosting it in 2012 & take your time & have fun with your set up.

I love them. agx's have adjustable stiffness settings, and the skunk2's can go crazy low or close to stock, so you have a huge range of heights/handling combos to play with. I'm upgrading to full coilovers just so i can dial in more. I got a fairly aggressive set of wheels that are going on the prelude soon, so I want that super fine tuning ability.

Thanks Drummerboy and uho. I'm looking at F&F's, and I'm also trying to find a place to get OEM side skirts(and possibly the whole kit if I can find a deal). I think I wanna go all out in terms of ride quality, improved handling, and a better stance. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty positive that's what I'm going to be doing come summer

I personally didn't like the wheels when I saw them in your pictures, but they look alot better in person. What suspension are you going with?
Western.
01-19-2012, 12:31 AM
I'll probably be going with Function and Form Type 1's. Just a question…How do y'all think those wheels would look on a black prelude? I've just been milling around looking for 5spds(which, btw, there are 5x the number of auto preludes for sale than there are 5 speeds). I could, technically, put everything stock back on, except for the exhaust, and then just transfer it all on to a new one. BUT it's highly unlikely that it will actually happen…I just really want a 5spd.
Do it! as for wheels at first i didn't like them but now i actually like them a lil but you should look into konig britelite's they look amazing on 4th n 5th gens unless you're lookin to go wider than 7in

Nice lude. I've always loved the third generations, but this one is clean. Get that thing dropped and you'll be looking right. I've always dropped my cars first. In my opinion, it doesn't matter how much shit you do to your car, if it isn't lowered, its ugly, lol. I'm not calling your shit ugly but you know what I mean.

Most parts will switch over to any other bb6 prelude minus the suspension and exhaust will not swap between a base and type s prelude. The autos are not know to be strong so be easy on it and also NEVER and I mean never run anything but Honda atf in it. If you do the clutch pads will dissolve off of auto transmission disc. I have seen this first hand. If you have any questions about the car you can pm me. I have been playing on them for about 7 years. I have a white SH that is getting a fully built motor and them selling her off for lack of room. Also a black base that is a shell that I'm debating a ls swap or something.

Yeah I know all about the auto transmissions in these cars... I've had this thing for about 2 years now, and I plan on keeping it for a long time. It will eventually become a project car once I get out of undergrad/grad. Thanks for the reference, and I will probably take you up on that if I have any really specific questions that I can't figure out by searching it on google/forums.

I still have a soft spot for Preludes. I owned two 4th gens. You have a very clean car. I don't like the wheels personally- I think a polished wheel would do better, but that's just me. Overall she isn't bad tho.

The first and third one are some solid inspiration, although I'm not a fan of chrome wheels like that. I'm trying to do the black-on-white theme…but again, the next thing up is the optional OEM lip kit and then this summer, I will be getting lowered(finally). You know what I also need? Time! If I had time, I'd be working this semester to get money for parts. I also really want to find a flush-mounted Type-S spoiler. Do you know whose Ludes those are?(with the exception of yours)

retrofit the stock ones with the projectors from the current. Retrofits look 100X better than stock or aftermarket in my opinion. I'll be doing my retrofit this summer when I have the time.

Thanks bro. No, they were not taken on the West Coast. They were taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I'm not sure of the name of the area there, but it's an area in NC between Cherokee and Waynesville.

Finally got some money coming my way, so I'll be taking my car to Mr.Tint in the very near future. The black front lip will go on next(I think I've decided to not paint the front and just get the sides and rear done), then the real JDM fogs will replace the current ones. After that, it will either be HID's or painting the sides and rear. I've been back and forth between holding out until I've got the money to get F&F Type 2's or just go ahead and get lowering springs. Its a hard decision. I've got 17's on it, and the front lip will be very close to the ground once installed already. If I lower it, I'll never be able to get into my driveway again. But I want to eliminate the majority of that space between the wheel and wheel well. Decisions, Decisions. Although it is ultimately my decision, thoughts, opinions, and ideas are always appreciated.

Get coilovers without a doubt, along with paint the front lip....
Drummerboy
05-30-2012, 04:21 AM
If you're worried about scrapping that much, I woundn't paint the front lip for now. Although I highly doubt you'll scrape it unless you have to jump a curve to get into your driveway. My car is lower than when you saw it at the meet (about 2.5" from the lip to the ground) and I still never scrape the lip. Cross member/flex pipe/muffler? oh yeah. But not the front lip.

I don't know if I'd reference that as a "photoshoot." Also, warehouse loading docks aren't a flattering spot to take pictures. Also, those wheels look rough on your car. The black is just too much. And lastly, picture editing, in my opinion, is not your strong point. I hate that this is filled with all negatives, but it's just my opinions. Like the car, but, to me, the wheels hurt it. Later, QD.

Your car is nice. Your wheels look like horse shit, not so much because theyre ugly wheels... the wheels are decent.... but theyre not even close to fitting your car correctly. you're arguably the worst photographer ive ever seen in my life. If i duct taped my camera to my weeny dog and turned him lose in my front yard, id probably produce better photo angles than this "photoshoot". Pictures with the wheels turning away from the camera never look good.

Sinfix, your first reply was really not needed. I understood what he said. I was experimenting with photo angles and effects and such, and yes, perhaps my attempt at taking pictures is a futile one, but I like trying, anyway. I was really looking for tips to improve when speaking of the photography. I don't have any training in things like photography, so I figure it out by pushing buttons and seeing what they do. So, constructive criticism is more than welcome. Photography is also a matter of opinion, so keep that in mind as well.

Sinfix, I stand corrected. You did offer a little bit of advice, and I appreciate it. I ask for advice purely to get ideas of what I could do. Just because I say I'm doing what I want doesn't mean that I'm not going to take suggestions and ideas from others. It is ultimately, of course, my decision of what I do. But I'm not someone who has endless ideas about what I really want to do, so I'm asking for any input to help me with ideas. See what I'm saying?

@OP I agree tho, your first set of photos was a lot better than these, seems like you got to jdm angle happy and editing happy too. As for the car, not a fan of the all black wheels at all, and not becuz they're black (tho that's some of it) they're just ugly to me. Rest of the car tho :goodjob:

No, I'm not satisfied with the car at all right now. It needs a lot of things. Got my shift knob and shift boot to do that conversion so I don't get so much crap for it being an auto. I know I'm gonna catch a lot of flack for this on here, but I'm doing it anyway. Plus, 2 less parts to acquire for a swap! :goodjob:

Planned for tomorrow is the headlight swap, slapping on my lip, putting in the shift boot and knob, and hopefully cleaning the air filter. Monday: Oil Change and seafoam to see if I can improve Crystal's efficiency because her mpg's have dramatically dropped. Im hoping to get a chance to do a special wax or something because I know at school she'll go ungodly amounts of time without getting a clean or wax.

Also, last week I hit a semi tire shread on 78 because I had cars on both sides and knocked my passenger turn signal and JDM fog right out of the slot...so that's why if any of y'all go to the Gwinnett meet, you saw a space under my passenger front turn signal(which I just bought off of someone)
Here's right after it happened last Monday:

I replaced the turn signal and a replacement JDM fog is on the way.

Got my shift knob and shift boot to do that conversion so I don't get so much crap for it being an auto. Plus, this shift knob is ballin.
Hate to tell you kid, but that's not going to help. In fact, it's going to look worse. Might as well embrace the fact you bought an autotragic.

Hoefully the part will come soon and you can replace it.Above not sure on why the hate about being an auto.

Callin me kid and you're two years older.....:ninja: Okay. I've seen it done, and I like it. Plain and simple. I bought the car because it had 84K on it, and for the price and miles, it was a great buy. I do regret it now, but I'd still take it over a 5-spd civic or integra any day. Hate on me all you want for saying that. I'm on the look out for a low mileage 5spd, but until I find a good one, this is what I'm rockin'.

Question, why don't you just convert it to manual? :goodjob: Either way, only children give ppl flack for automatics and the foglights looked nice. Keep it up

Answer: I plan to :goodjob: Right now, I'm about to enter my senior year of college, and I don't have the time or money to do the swap. I'm waiting until the transmission fails on me(which it probably will, as 5G auto trannies are notorious for doing earlier than most would). As soon as that happens, this car will become a project car(probably) and get all kinds of exciting things. For now though, it's my only car. Thanks for the words of encouragement though.
Edit on the original post: Friend didn't show up as expected, so the only thing getting done today is the front lip.

As said enjoy the car and box does not matter and is wrong to pick on and just ignore the wrong comments after its your ride.

I never said I didn't like the fact that it was automatic, I just said I don't like the cover-up shift boot. I think it's stupid to try to make it 'look' like a manual. It's almost as bad as the kids that manually shift through the low gear settings on an automatic because it's "like driving a 5-speed."

Fair play to you mate also it is like where i live people but GTR badges on there GTS Skyline models and this is hated by owners of those and other models so certain faetures can divide folks.I guess there is a lot of people jumping on automatics yet have never really driven them or at least driven a good one and myelf had that thought many moons ago when i borrowed a Merc automatic which i found boring and hated all automatics for years, but after driving and owning some different ones i found out they are not all the same and have driven some bad manuals along the way also.

Well as I said, my buddy didn't show up today because of "festivities" the night before. That kinda sucked because I was hoping to do a couple of things, and only one could get done since it was only me. With that being said, here's a picture of what I did today:

I'm still waiting on the replacement fog. In the meantime. I put the fog cover back on, and I'm debating taking the other fog light out and slapping the other cover there just to make it even.

Looks good and if any one ask about the missing fog just tell them its an air feed to the air filter :)

Hah thanks. I got a fog light that should be here today or tomorrow. Here's to hoping that the one that's coming in the mail looks the same as the one on the car!! I know I'm going to have to buy some matching bulbs for them, but I hope they at least look the same.

I know this is becoming more of a slow build thread, but anyway....Here's some of the pictures of just my car from the GPC End of summer meet(almost a month ago, but it took me this long to remember to get them onto photobucket

The plan right now is to get my eBay headlights swapped out for OEM ones + HID's(I'll get them retrofitted as soon as I have the money!), put my replacement JDM fog in, change the oil, and clean the air filter. The first 3 weekends in September are going to be about the only ones for about 3 months that I'll be free...

I've only got a guess as to what happened there. The girl that had it before me did it somehow. There was also a couple of more marks that were less severe on the opposite back corner and on the same side rear-quarter panel, but thanks to some Eagle One metal polish and some serious elbow grease, I took care of most of it. That's the only spot where it's actually paint off instead of on top of the paint. I'm trying to figure out whether touch-up paint will be sufficient or if I should just get the whole front bumper repainted. Thanks for the compliment tho!

Thanks bro. It's going well. It's only a couple weeks in now, and I'm coming home this weekend to change out my headlights back to the stock ones, change my oil, and a couple of other things.

Yep. My goal is to do enough to the exterior/lighting to where everyone knows it's my Lude, but nothing extravagant. The simpler the better.
